My body struggles to interpret the neurotransmitter for sleep
My college has not my hs
That's sad
depends but for marching band i’m doing the rack
Is that a percussion instrument? Sorry I'm new to marching band
Concert i play trumpet, tuba, cornet, saxophone, or flute depending on what they need in the song. Sometimes ill play percussion instruments too
it’s like the bass drum, gong, cymbals, toms, snare, and stuff
i’m glorified drum set without a kick
Wow that's really cool I only know how to play 2
once you learn one the test come east
How can you choose to play those instruments?
I didn’t, they just know i can play whatever they throw at me so
i’m in choir and was a percussionist, they handed me a trumpet bc they had none and i learned it in about 2 weeks
next they gave me a cornet
then a tuba
i learned sax on my exs sax and i played that in another bsnd
flute is my worst instrument
i’m not perfect at any of them
That's really cool
I only know Clarinet and I main on the bass clarinet
March bass clarinet
Np
Honors classes and AP classes have different weighting on ur gpa because AP classes are college classes while honors classes are advanced highschool level classes
what do colleges see? Weighted gpa or unweighted gpa?
Oh no not AP ii mentto type advanced that's what they called Honors on my old school
Both, but they will recalculate it weighted using their scale.
Some schools do that. My school has both Honors and Advanced but Advanced doesn't get any additional weighting.
Ok cool
If you take less courses but have high grades will your gpa be lower than someone who has more courses and similarly high grades?
Only depends if their courses are AP or no
nope
averages still average the way they average
no. depends on course rigor
Gpa wont be different but when applying to college they will see that the schedule wasn't nearly as rigorous as someone who took more courses
Is there a difference between taking an ap test vs the entire ap course? (Besides stuff like gpa)
would ap stats and ap calc ab in the same year as a senior be too much? i def wanna take ap stats bc it’ll be good for my future career interests, and it’ll be not too difficult especially for a math class. however, the more i think abt it, i think ap calc will be beneficial for me to take because it’ll look good on my transcript and if i pass i could remove some credits in college. so, should i take both in the same year, or would it be too much? (also, i’m taking apush and ap chem)
It's manageable but if you are skeptical you can drop another class like apush if the math credits will be more beneficial.
alright thanks!
i would assume so
do colleges like to see 4+ years of language? i want to do my language all 4 years but idk if i'll be able to fit it into my schedule
and would it be necessary for the medical field
id would be helpful I think
no?
Im taking my lanugage classes at my community college
i did calc bc and it wasnt that bad so i think u can manage it
i havent done stats tho
Literally not at all, while in residency and stuff it might arise that you’d want to learn a language (like Spanish or something) to communicate w patients that can’t speak English but language is not a prerequisite to med school whatsoever
How manageable is BC Calc, Physics C, Stat, and Gov in the same year
I was going to take BC and Physics C in the same year but then I was told that its bestter to take physics c after
I'm a senior in my school and I'm taking precalc honors. Its been the 3rd day and I'm struggling a lot in the hw. I don't need math credits so should I just drop the class? I was suggested to swap it to sports statistics which seems like it would be more useful in life.
no
no don't drop it
dont drop, get help from teachers, online resources, or anywhere to help reinforce your math
Colleges will clown you if u take sports statistics
Ok so I need to choose between japanese and commerce for my y9 subject selections <neutral feelings towards both> so like any recommendations for which one I should choose?
Or does it not matter too much and just go with my gut
I'm a sophomore and having some difficulty with apush. we just moved to the US, so I have no prior knowledge of stuff. Would switching APUSH for AP Gov be better? and would it be better to take apush junior year?
also is AP gov worth doing?
Take APUSH Junior year, as it is a rigorous course, if your school offers AP World History, take it, since it might be more familiar to you
But I wouldn’t recommend taking APUSH as a sophmore
my school does offer APWH however i already have credit for world history from 9th grade (we dont have honors/ap in india so they just put regular wh on the transcript) so i dont wanna take it again..
This is kinda a general question. But do y’all think I’ll be fine taking a class with mostly 11-12 graders, as a freshman? Idk if it’ll be awkward.
for undergraduate?
not sure how it works lol
i think you’ll do great as long as its not too hard
how could i tell my chem teacher that the course is too easy for me and for me to get harder work during class
Go with AP Gov then
UC SF is a purely graduate school
Meaning you will have to obtain a bachelor’s degree from another institution to attend
The medical school to be specific or the other one
both
yeah
I got a quick question, not really sure where to post it. I took Spanish one and two in middle and high school, but sophomore year I took Spanish three and didn’t really like it. So I dropped it after the first trimester. However, I still got an A in it for the term that I did take. Is that gonna screw me over with colleges?
How would it screw you over?
Other than the foreign language requirements some colleges have
hey do u know any online resources where i can get grade 11 Canadian/American notes?
okay thanks for your input
Just don’t want them to think I’m low effort, or give up easily
It might be awkward, but remember that you are there for the learning, not the people. You might make some really cool friends too! Don’t let upperclassmen the the reason why you don’t take the best course for you. 🙂
I need help picking classes for high school 😭
9 and us
I can't help for the US, sorry
ok
what math have you taken so far
alegbra 1 geometry and algebra 2
So you’d be taking pre-cal
Well first off what were the classes you took last year for history, English, and science
our school only has honors stuff
so honors history honors english and honors science
if i can maintain a 95% or above then ill take honors bio
or 93% and above for honors enviornmental
but i really want to get into honors bio
for social studies this year, you could take us gov, us history, world history, i think (im new too). from what ive seen most freshman take us gov so you could go for that
im not sure about english
what do you mean maintain 95% or above
I can’t take us gov till my senior year
If you’re really good at English consider an advanced class unless it’s the same as honors for you
Idk
Should I take honors English as a freshman? It is the only honors class available at my school for freshman
Why not? It is always good to challenge yourself.
which one has more maths? comp or econ?
Subject?
definitely computer science
comp sci. econ is more analysis
Need help choosing a class, can't decide if I should take track or study hall. Track would be good as an extracurricular/sport, but it would bring down my GPA as it is counted as an academic course that I would take all 4 years of high school. Study Hall feels like a waste of time, but it wouldn't bring down my GPA. Which one should I take?
Tldr which one matters more to college, a sport for 4 years or a boost in weighted GPA (by around 0.15)?
I think you should take study hall only if you need it to do classwork, or to study. For example, take it if you think you won’t have much time at home to do homework or study. But, personally, I would choose track because not only your grades and gpa is the deciding factor for schools. They also look at you extracurriculars especially if you are planning on continuing it for 4 years in high school.
Alr that's what I was thinking but wasn't sure
I got to a rly competitive school and wanted to be high within the rankings for GPA, which was y it was hard for me to decide
Ohhh
Yeah
If you really want to boost your gpa, take higher level classes. Only take higher level class if you think you’ll get an A or high B on it though.
Like APs, GT
I'm planning on taking mainly higher level classes
Cool
Yw
generally how many classes do freshmen in high school take?
I'm taking 7 but it might vary between school
it depends on your high school tbh, my high school has eight periods so we could take up to eight classes per year
yeah mine had 8 periods, i took 7 classes so id have a study hall
which id definitely recommend taking a study hall if ur able to
so i think there's a chance imight be overloading myself with ap's consdering i haven't taken any before
i'm going into my 10th year of high school and i'm taking the following courses
- AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C: Mechanical, AP Computer science, AP European History, French 2, Chemistry, Honors English
i'm skipping from algebra 2 to calculus bc since i've been studying over the summer and taken caluclus classes in person
i will also be skipping to ap physics c mechanics since in my school they cover the entirety of physics during the first semester and students at my school do the same thing
i've been coding for around 4-5 years and i believe that ap computer science won't be as big of a deal as the other ap classes
and i'd taken honors history which was meant to prepare me for ap euro, and i got a B+ first semester and an A second sem
i'm also not sure if clubs and sports will interfere with my courses since i'll be taking year long sports
does anyone ahve any advice?
according to our school's website, during my freshman year i should've been spending around 2 hours on homework, when in reality i barely spent any time and only took around 15 minutes out of my day. but for the courses i'm taking it says it'll be around 3 hours of work
Have you taken precalc yet? At my schools in my area precalc is required
Grade-wise colleges look more at your overall letter grade rather than per semester so ig just keep that in mind
if you have the time and feel that you can do well in these classes why not
ap cs:a or apcsp?
I only took five in freshman year but that was cause Covid so don’t look at me 😭
No but I’ve taken pre calc courses and I’ve been studying calculus material
Yeah true that’s why I wasn’t sure
Ap cs a
So comp sci should be fine. Your schedule is good but physics c might be hard if you are taking it concurrently with calculus.
Our school recommends that we take it concurrently with a calculus course
But thanks for the help!
hi, i did geo in 6th and alg 2 in 7th, pre calc in the fall, im gonna self study calc bc next yr and am gonna take dual enrollment classes in the 9th grade specifically discrete geometry 10th some calc and in 11th and 12th easy ib math calsses
does anyone have any tips/online resources for self studying pre calc and ap calc ab while being enrolled in algebra 2 honors for the upcoming school year?
did i ask
I choose physics chem maths and computer science as major
Ok?
that's great
probably not a good idea to leak ur school name though
cause now i know ur locker number and combo
ur stuff isn't safe anymore
uhh what i did was i took outside math classes
see if there're any in your area that teach pre calculus
if not you could always enroll for a college summer program
usually they have classes running during the summer that you could join if you're old enough
but if you're taling about studying concurrently, just make sure you understand everything in alg 2 before moving on to pre calc
that's what i did anyways
might not want to include the school name
Doesn’t matter
Schools is a school
Whatever
with that someone could find your location easily
I mean whose gonna go to my school anyways
Yep
you don't have any issues with that?
is ap us history worth taking? 🤔
whats ur other options
@mint thorn Depends on the teacher in my opinion
a lot of times it gives poor credit when transferring, but it’s a lot of fun and easy in my opinion.
Should I take Spanish online
i haven’t taken it cus i took it at cc however i tutored for it and it seemed relatively easy
if you can learn online yes, i do it and do just fine. I take it at my CC so 1 sem is 2 years of hs
Okay
Just make sure you stay organized and stuff
My teacher doesn’t lecture, it’s all reading, so be prepared for that too.
Well the textbook itself is objectively westernized
Hey guys- just joined the server haha. I’m someone who’s entering freshman year in less than two weeks and I’ve really be stuck on the fence for a certain class. My 8th grade math teacher recommended me for honors math, which whoop that’s an awesome thing that I’m very proud of however as someone who does NOT do math outside of school such as Russian Math, I have a bad feeling I’m going to feel dumb in that class or struggle to keep up and idk maybe that’s too much stress for a 1st year in high school? What do you guys think? Should I take the challenge and go to that class? Should I take it easy and drop down? It’s my only honors class so it’s not like I’m juggling a million hard classes, just one.
whats russian math
Basically a math class that you can take out of school
oh cool
I was in the exact same situation, and I just gritted my teeth and went into the honors class. It was definitely worth it in my opinion, and not everyone in the class did Russian math so you’re not alone haha. Usually honors classes are just like the normal class only they move faster or do more challenge questions, so if that’s the only class structure that you know (like you’re not going to normal to advanced) it’s completely fine
Should I take AP Physics or AP Lit?
I wanna take both but there are both the same period so I gotta chose one
Oh alrighty, thank you so much for the advice!! 🙏
definitely go for the honors class, it's a good challenge and will prep you for sophomore year, which is a lot harder lol. Also do you know what level of math it is, like algebra 1 or 2?
It just says Math 1 accelerated/honors
So I guess algebra 1?
This is what it says for what courses I’ll prolly have
then honors is better, I took algebra 1 honors a couple years ago and it wasn't that hard
Alrighty, thanks!
that’s usually alg 1 and 3/4th of geometry. Honors Math 2 is Alg2/trig and the remainder of geometry. Honors Math 3 is remaining Alg 2 (covered in first 2 weeks) than pre-calc.
Math 1 is usually alg 1, Math 2 is geometry, Math 3 is alg 2 where I’m from
after that is precalc
I need some help, so four languages are offered at my school: Latin, Hebrew, Greek, and German, and I'm finishing of my required Latin classes next summer, but there is an extra optional Latin class that my school offers, Latin IV. I'm already enrolled for German, but I'm wondering if I should head into Latin IV. (Like should I take the optional Latin IV class) Also should I do Hebrew, and Greek? (I can graduate already with German, so it makes Greek and Hebrew optional) I would like some suggestions, I have a lot of time, (to take these classes) so idk which ones to start with. Should I finish Latin then start Greek, or start Greek then finish Latin?
Latin I, II, and III are required, as well as Greek I and II, or Hebrew I and II, or German I and II.
Also please note that my classes are really difficult so it's hard to take more than 3 classes at a time I'm already done for with taking 4 classes this next school year
wow thats a lot of languages, my school only has Japanese, spanish, and ASL
def finish latin first
^yeah, finish latin first, i'd only enroll in greek or hebrew if you feel it's vital to any kind of application you'll need
Ok thanks :)
I'm an incoming junior ('24) who just decided to attend college in the future. I know a rigorous course load is one factor that can help me get into college, and this year, I'm taking three advanced classes (AP US History, AP English, and IB Film). I haven't taken AP classes in previous years, even though a couple of my teachers say I have what it takes for advanced classes. While I don't have other Math classes available to me, IB Physics is a class I can take. The question is, should I take IB Physics even though I'm not the best at Science, or should I stick to regular Physics? I plan on majoring in Filmmaking in the future, so is it even worth it?
If you’re not the best at science, I’d stick to regular physics for now
I agree with Iconic. Unless you want to take honors physics if that course is available. I would say that course is more important for college acceptance other than the major
how important is GPA for college apps, like my unweighted is a 4.0/4.0, but my weighted is projected to be a 4.48 which is probably only slightly above average at my school. And also, does taking a lot of 5.0 classes and AP matter? all my classes im taking right now reflect what i wanna major in college instead of just random classes to boost my gpa
for those who took AP computer science, how easy is it? I've heard most people say it's easy.
its rly easy, i studied like 10m for the ap test and got a 5, and at my school the AP CS course is data structtures + APCS so its like 80% post AP and 20% AP and even that class was easy
people who are going for ivy leagues, how many ap’s did you take sophomore year?
i did 1 ap/post AP sophomore year (data structures + AP CS), now im doing 3 AP and 1 post AP (APUSH, AP physics C m&em, AP calc BC, artifical intelligence)
wait AP Computer science principles or AP Computer ScienceA?
AP CS A
data structures is AP CS AB plus more, but we dont get to take the test for that
wait nvm they disconitinued the test for AP CS AB
Well thats a relief ive heard some ppl say that apcsa is diffiuclt ty
yea for some ppl it is
wait, what's the difference between the two?
I think principles is Java and A is Python
Im about to take principles this fall so i got to see, but you do have to take principles before A
python is principles
oh? well sorry about that misinformation
artificial intelligence is in python
yup
i havent coded in python so long
our first lab is just a bunch of one line coding to warm up
ooh good luck!
principles is supposed to be easier I think
Yes but I don’t think they’re going to be teaching that in principles
Learning artificial intelligence properly requires calculus
And considering that ap csp is open or freshmen, I doubt they’re going that
Yes it is, it’s meant to be an introduction to coding
Hi y'all there is a program for SUSTAINABILITY and ARCHITECTURE READ the description for more details:)
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdqOdteuuWjPSey0qF33WCzMZ8WfD0STsKsjfSBIEDC37YkPw/viewform?usp=sf_link
Hello, hope you are smiling!
We are that you are interested in joining our program. This course is to know the problems facing our nature. If you like sustainable architecture, art, films, games, and writing if you want to know more about them we will discuss all this.
All over the world!
Diverse networks and minds and cultures are important for...
jr year schedule:
Pre-Calculus Honors
AP US History
AP English Lang
Gym/Physics lab
Physics Honors
Spanish IV
AP Chem
Chem lab/study hall
Accounting
does that seem ok?
yeah that seems good
imo 3 or 4 aps is good for junior year
I was gonna do AP stats too but I have to save it for next year cause PCH is more important and stats is only 1st period
personally I'm taking ap calc before stats
im taking them together next year
Bro is the math master
Take dual enrollment if you can get a good grade so when it goes into your college transcript
Its not a bad starting gpa
I'm from South Africa and this is my course selection subjects:
Pure Maths
Physics
Life Sciences
EGD
Does anyone here that take any of these subjects mind giving their opinion on it 😅
AP World History is officially the easiest class i’ve taken
tell your secrets 😭🙏 my course starts monday
show up to class, do the work, pass the test.
Pretty easy imo
i don’t take notes though so she’s prob gonna start docking me points for that
oh rip
I wish notes weren’t required
mine is through canvas and my previous classes didn't require notes
mine is through google classroom, and she didn’t require notes, but now she wants us to start proving we’re paying attention
that's kinda weird to switch up 😭 idk tho
Has anyone studied Legal Studies at any point? I’m intending to study it next year as an advanced subject.
So i want to do a double major in computer science and business, but for electives I got digital marketing (which is great bc I wanted that) and intro to psych. do you think intro to psych would affect my chances of getting into colleges for comp sci and business? i'm just a high school freshman right now
i’m also a freshman but i don’t think so, but you could get ahead and learn more if you took a business class or another compsci class
i’m looking at going into the medical field, but i’m not taking any medical classes this year— A, they couldn’t fit into my schedule and B, i want to get my computer science and health credits out of the way
electives don’t matter at all, trust me
IB English HL
IB history of the Americas
IB Math SL 1 Applications
IB Spanish 4
Digital Media Studies
IB Design Technology HL 1
IB Physics HL 1
IB Theory of Knowledge 11
Ap Computer Science A
is that this a good course load for colleges like BU and NYU this is my schedule for this year (jr year)
they show your interest to colleges.
yeah that looks like death but go for it
csp is java script
csa is java
csp doesn’t use a specific language
teachers will sometimes teach it with one though
I am taking french 1 and choir for my electives this year
I think its good for a 7th grader
I want to pick a humanist subject and something to do with it as my career.
However, I really like money and mathematical subjects aren’t all that bad. What would you do if you were me?
nope!
though some schools might need you to take csp before csa
AP or IB or Dual Credit courses?
Depends on what your trying to do
AP shows ur devotion to that subject I think while IB is more broad and more critical thinking and essay based
sometimes, my school requires a cs introductory class before taking csa
I am thinking of self studying ap psych
I am in my senior yr of hs
Self study cuz there was no room on my schedule to fit the class in
Will my score of a 5 or 4 show colleges that im interested in the subject?
Not really
It'll show colleges that you were able to handle the subject, not that you enjoy it
The way for colleges to know that you like the subject is probably by having psych ecs
So I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but
School starts in a couple days and I'm taking Algebra 2 but I was thinking of self studying honors pre calc, however I haven't learned algebra 2 yet. Can anyone give advice/tips?
i'd say since you're self studying go slow. start on algebra 2 first then pre calc. take breaks if you need. if you're confused, ask questions and good luck! pre calc is pretty fun! 🙂
Is taking AVID for jr and sr yr worth or NO?ima freshmen btw
Avid at my schools is your with the same class all 4 years so you can only get in as a freshman
Self study AP stats cuz it's different than everything else. But pre calc you need to build on
i’m going into ap stat this year, how would you say to prepare?
Go to mirajur rahman on tiktok and in his bio tap on his linktree and there's notes there for every AP class
Hey, should I continue my classes (they put me back to algebra 1x1) thought I finished last year with b’s and c’s? I would love to learn at a higher level. Should I risk it? (By the way I only went back cause this is a new school and my last school was understaffed so there was no proper education everyday, and be were learning 8-7grade thought we were 9th graders)
@urban vigil I would say that is more up to you if you feel academically ready. Just to keep in mind that high school grades matter
use khan academy for learning alg 2 but find practice problems online because the khan academy ones arent that good
Anyone know or had smth like Ap research and its counter(?) part? (capstone program thing)
I'm thinking of going into it next year because i was recommended for it. I heard its really good to get into colleges, and that was the main drive to get into it tbh-
Ok thanks
yeah that won't be hard to pull off
one piece of advice: get princeton review book instead of barron's
other than that just memorize the terms
Ok cool
is it worth taking a series of technology electives to get a specialised award for them on my diploma even though it would lower my weighted gpa because they are not honors or ap
That's what I want to do too! Do you want to become study buddies or something like that?
I self taught algebra 2, honors pre calc pretty much requires most of the A2 content however, you could consider challenging AP stats or something if you want more math, or go ahead with PCH but you might be missing some concepts if you have not taken A2
precalc is not fun
😭
calc is much better
every other math class is better
besides stuff on cantor’s research
and infinities 😭😭
precalc prolly hardest class in hs
math class*
dont get me started on english
i’d agree 😦
speedrun A2 by urself, then go for pre calc lol
whats hard about it
the fact that nothing connects
You learn something and then u learn a unit where it almost has no correlation
since precalc is meant to fill in the holes from A2 to understand Calc
it is more “random”
And doesnt flow too well
oh but what specific concepts
u go from like rational functions to like conic sections
idk man it was just hard for me to connect dots
cuz there was no connecting dots
and limits
🥲
limits actually useful though
the whole course?
yea
so like how long for conic
bruh i thought studying chem over summer was a pain in the ass
my man is doing precalc in week
I learned a bit of conic sections in al 2 but i didn't understand jack
oh
so idk it might take a while for conic sections
r conic sections even useful in calc
they seem trivial
where r u learning?
khan academy and I also have a textbook
havent done calc lol
also through youtube videos my friend recommended me
i just talked to professor and he taught me a little
oh lol
which textbook
Algebra and Trigonometry with Analytic Geometry
it goes through al 2 and a bit of precalc
I'm using it to do the first few chapters and then I'm gonna go onto other resources
but expensive and spacey
I got a used version
why r u speedrunning
it was like 20 bucks
no it looks brand new actually
ur skipping?
trying to
thanks
textbook is like 300$ on amazon sheesh
oh its 140
nvm ur right u can get one for lkke 30
yea lol
Yeah sure I'd be down
Ok thanks for the guidance!
Thanks for the guidance!
Can someone please help review the courses I'm taking this semester
well you gotta tell us what you're taking first
French 3
English 2 H
Global 2 H
Math 3
Chemistry
Health 66
Foundations of business
Tbh I'm not too excited about the last one
And my counselor hasn't been so helpful with, well counseling
And I don't get what honors are
Honors are more a cancer classes with more weighting on your gpa
these are all good courses, since the honors classes will have a larger advantage on your resume
Oh so honor classes are good then?
yes
If so then should I opt for honors in health and business?
if you can, then yes
they'll be harder classes tho
but benefit you positively later on if you succeed
Can I go for honors in the second semester?
it can also help give you more opportunities in the future
So I could use the first to know how the class actually is
i don't think you can switch midway through the year, considering your schedule is worked around the honors classes
once you're in honors classes, it's extremely hard to move classes around, because they're normally only for one or two periods
Oh I didn't know that
i think it's that and then some
I saw someone with about six and thought I should do more
i just learned that this year when i tried to move some of my classes and i couldn't because of honors classes
Ohh wow
you'll have more opportunities in the future for honors as well
Why does this have to be so complicated
Lol
I think I'll take honors in health and take a food class
it's the way the school system works
make sure health honors is a class that exists too
my school doesn't have a health honors
Oh so not every class has honors?
what's up?
i believe so, yes
Oh okay
the higher the grade, the better the gpa
of course!
My counselor has to be sick of me with the number of emails I've been sending so far
don't worry about that, they're there for a reason
Yeah, so there's no honors class for either of those two
And apparently food and nutrition doesn't fit into my schedule
makes sense, they have to work your schedule around the honors classes
if you have any study halls, see if you can get into any extra electives maybe
which one
i have 3 aps and im deciding on my 4th
idk what i should take
i wanted to take 4 this year really bad but i couldnt fit the 4th into my schedule
i might challenge one
Just messaged you!
Ok
idk what happened here
autocorrect
Hey, quick question. I’ve been doing band(honors) in school as an elective for 5 years now. I’m currently a sophomore in highschool. I’m not very good at my instrument, and haven’t really had any real interest in band . I’m thinking that studying business would be nice in college, and it’s something I’m interested jn. If I quit band now at the start of sophomore year and take personal finance and marketing 1 instead(not honors courses), will it look good or bad on my college application? Will it reflect badly on me since I quit band after 9th grade?
Also, personal finance is a optional college dual enrollment class.
It's not necessarily the more As you get
and gpa is kind of subjective between schools as well
plus it heavily depends on what sorts of classes you're taking
but yes, as a general rule, the higher your grade, the higher your gpa will be
but this also depends on whether you're taking honors/ap (which are generally "weighted" classes; these are more important for your gpa) and regular classes ("unweighted"; they're still important, and you can't slack off, but weighted classes are more beneficial to your gpa as a whole)
the system will definitely work differently at other schools
but at least at mine
generally, the highest gpa you can get is a 4
which is with all unweighted classes
it gets more complex if you take two or three weighted and the rest are unweighted
but for me, I take 7 classes, and only one of them is unweighted
so the absolute highest gpa I can get is a 5.3
In general, 3 is about average
This will probably also depend on what school you go to, but as a general rule of thumb at my school, your grade in a weighted class is equivalent (gpa-wise) to your grade plus 10 percent in an unweighted class
so if you have an 85 in a weighted class, then for your gpa, it's equivalent to a 95 in an unweighted class
which is why they increase your gpa so much
because if you get a 95 in a weighted class, that's about equal to a 105 in an unweighted class
hence the higher possible gpa
are college classes counted as weighted in gpa calculation?
im in a prep school, taking 2 classes at the college.
would i pass ap stats (both the class and test) without taking pre cal
Yeah I think so
A bunch of people in our school double up with alg 2 and stats without taking pre calc
And they’ve also done precalc and ap stats together
You could go both way
S
I was wondering if I should try taking computer science H
Or would that be too much with the ones I already have?
how is it possible to get higher than a five?
As much as I know it is 10 maximum
Cus i have seen people get GPA like 9.3 9.5 etc
Hey im in 8th grade and im trying to get into stanford and i'm wondering how could i stand out to admission officers
Again, that's cause of the way the weighted classes have your grades calculated
Cause I have 100s in some of mine
Which is the same as an unweighted 110
doesn’t the 4.0 scale go up to a 5.0 max
or are you using a different scale
How is that possible though
Yeah it does. Honors classes are usually up to 4.5 and AP classes are usually up to 5
how does the the other guy get a 5.3 then what
he probably has a different scale
ah
are there any AP courses in the social studies category?
thanks!
yw!
are college classes counted as weighted in gpa calculation?
im in a prep school, taking 2 classes at the college.
depends on the college. UC considers them apart of their GPA, but some schools may not.
Alright, thanks for the info. I'd rather not specify the college, so I'll go ask in person. Again, thanks!
So here are the current classes I'm taking
Geometry honors
Biology (normal but I'm trying to get honors because schedules this year is weird)
English honors
Jrotc LET 2
AP spanish
Honors Civics/Modern world history
AP CS
PE/health
Are these good classes for 10th grade
What classes should I take in high school if I plan to do MIS in college
@elfin pivot
Oh shi I thought you meant dual credit. Im doing dual enrolment this year but school hasn’t started yet
I’ve always wanted to take AP WH but no school does it and it’s not on khan academy
10th grade geometry honors?
Isn’t the whole thing about honors is so that you go 1 grade level above the other piers or something
Not really, Honors is just a more advanced version of the same subject.
And it sometimes contains more content
has anyone here taken AP seminar? Some of my peers have told me that its useless and im currently taking ap seminar. Please help, I dont know if I made the right choice. Ive only started the school year and im not 100% sure what AP seminar is and very few schools give credit for it.
Is AP Seminar worth it?
I had an issue last year that resulted in me taking algebra 1, hence why I did Geometry
@elfin pivot yo
I’ve done it over the summer
Can I dm you @cinder crag
sure
Hi. Just wondering if anyone has taken AP English Literature (or knows about it) and would or would not recommend it. I have not taken AP English Language. I like writing essays but not really reading
if you don't like reading that much I wouldn't take lit
AP lang is very different from AP lit. AP lang is more of rhetorical analysis, ap lit is analyzing old english. i would say ap lang is 10x easier than ap lit because it tests whether or not you can form a complete thought.. honestly, the ap lang test is super easy and just measures whether or not you know the meaning behind literary devices used in reading passages
concerning ap lit tho... based on my knowledge from friends who have taken it, it's pretty frustrating bc they read old english (shakespeare, etc) and a bunch of poems. it also really depends on your teacher (if she makes it fun/if it's boring, u won't learn). like blizzard said, if you don't like reading old english and analyzing old poems, dont take it
is it worth taking though even though i dont want a job having to do with English?
It depends on what your college counts as credit and if u need it. For the college I'm going to, it counts as a humanities credit, but I'm not taking it because I need an ENG 306 credit anyway for a med program I'm doing anyway.
If you dont want to have a job in English and the colleges ur applying to takes it as a humanities credit, I would suggest taking it. Not for the career path, but for getting the credit out of the way.
ahh thank you. got it

Ok
I want to take ap psych
And i can!
But
I have to replace my Spanish 3 course with AP psych
If I don't take Spanish 3, I won't be able to recieve an advanced regents diploma and will just recieve a regular regents diploma (I'm a senior this year who's behind on her langauge credits)
I don't necessarily want to take Spanish 3 and reaalllly want to take AP Psych, but if I dont take that language course, I won't get that nice, feel-good title, yk?
What should i do? I also dont have any more room in my schedule other than that time both Spanish and Psych are happening
I’m a Junior in APUSH, AP physics, AP statistics, AP lit, honors Spanish 3, and honors Precalculus (and a required religion class). For context, im on varsity crew which has practice everyday before school on a lake at 5:45 as well as after school everyday on rowing machines. My school doesn’t offer German but I’m conversationally fluent in it. Do you think it would be a good idea to prep for and take an AP German test?
is it required to take three years of spanish at your school?
take it next year instead
Yes
Hey I need help picking my English course. I'm currently taking AP English Lang and 2 weeks into the course, my teacher is already asking if I think I can handle it. And I'm not so sure I can. I hate the extra work and the crazy amount of note taking and my summative assessment is coming up and I didn't want to do it. My teacher is very nice she isn't mad at me and just wants the best. The one thing holding me back from moving classes to an easier English class is that I would be dropping one of my very few AP Classes. I was gonna take 3 this year but if I drop this I'll be only taking 2. The AP options are limited at my school so I'm wondering if I should just stick it out while possibly being miserable (because this is only the beginning of the year). I'm thinking about getting my AP's out of the way this year to have a calmer year next year and I also think that I can learn good things while being in tough classes. My teachers however are really noticing how much I'm struggling and they said that they know how much I hate and don't engage with the class. Is this just the beginning of the year getting to me? Should I stick it out for the credit and risk having a miserable, difficult year?
I also don't know if doing an AP class will matter if I don't do well. I'm going to study in Europe (because I'm in Europe) and I want to keep my options open because I don't know what I want to be yet. I'm hating my English class but I'm wondering if I'll just get used to it
I need to decide by the end of the weekend and I'm scared.
Should I just take as many AP's as possible and just deal with it? I'm struggling so hard...
Dont overload yourself to the point of burnout. Do you feel like it’s too much? I saw that your teachers were worried. Do you have an idea of what you want to do in college? Also you might be able to take one of the APs you dropped this year next year.
*or as a job
Also I could be wrong on this but I believe European universities care more about grades then course rigor so let me double check
Okay I actually was incorrect, some countries in Europe have different requirements. I would tell you to research a little bit on colleges and the countries requirements because that will help you make that decision.
I’m not entirely sure what I want to be when I’m older. Right now Art seems like my main option but I honestly reaLly don’t know so I’m trying to keep my doors open as much as possible.
I’m gunna (hopefully) study in the Netherlands, cause that’s where most of my family is and it has a lot of good university’s
Also, a part of me does feel like it’s a lot. Even my teachers are asking if it’s too much. Heck my teacher came to ME first about switching the course. But if I want to prepare for collage, shouldn’t I get used to the work load and take as many APS as possible?
Well if you’re finding it to be too much i would weigh your options, talk to your counselor if they are good, and see if it’s really worth it to take another AP class. I would suggest maybe talking to a trusted teacher or someone who knows u well. To be honest I think that you have a lot more free time in college than highschool. I don’t believe it’s about getting used to the workload because you can adjust in college. Generally, APs are considered beginner level college courses, but I actually believe the curriculum is squeezed too much too close together.
I’ve already been talking to my counsellor and teachers and their not really giving me straight answers. My counsellor said that if I wanna persue art, I don’t have to worry so much about my AP, but that’s just an option so I’m not sure.
He said to think about it during the weekend
I need a minimum of 4 AP classes and I wanna take more if possible
help i think i have to decide between csp and chorus but idk which one, i rly wanna take csp bc i wanna try it out since ive never done coding in my life, and i think it would be interesting, however i've been in chorus for yrs and music is a big part of my ecs. what should i do? also the chorus is honors and csp is considered regular lvl bc its "ap optional" 😔
But if I can’t even handle 3 in this year, how will I do more next year
I’d do chorus bc imo if it’s one of your ecs you should consider doing it
Taking a coding club instead of a class might be a better option.
imo if you won’t use something in the future don’t do it
we dont have a club and i wouldnt start one cuz obv im not qualified lol
Than if you don’t have space, take Chorus. Stick to your guns unless you have space for anything else
im gonna try to see if theres another chorus class another period but idk
do you plan on doing anything coding-related in the future?
i was hoping this class would give me an idea if i'd like to do it in the future, but idk. but i'm also not gonna do anything w music in the future lol
I’ve already been talking to my counsellor and teachers and their not really giving me straight answers. My counsellor said that if I wanna persue art, I don’t have to worry so much about my AP, but that’s just an option so I’m not sure.
He said to think about it during the weekend
update so they changed my schedule and i have ukulele now so i’d at least have some music in my schedule if i dropped chorus. i’m still gonna ask if there’s chorus any other period but i might just have to drop it for the best :/ i feel like csp is more useful for the future
also i do drama club so i’d still be involved in music either way
I think it really does depend on your major at specific Netherlands universities. At Utrecht they want their USA secondary school students to take 4 APs with a 3 or higher (including Calc AB) in order to take Business/Econ. I really do think it depends on ur college. I would advise to quit one if you think the workload is too much. Is self-studying for an AP or two an option for you?
why does no one have math 8 :c
Hello guys I'm a high school senior and I might need some help on my CC classes in the spring. I'm taking Calc 2 right now asynchronously and I'm thinking about taking the continuation of the class. Would it be a good idea to take both Calc 3 and Linear Algebra or just Calc 3 (asynchronously)?
OMG HEY
Does anyone know where to find affordable online courses so I can get high school credit on the side?
Ur local community college should be good
I also think byu is ok or apex prep, but I’m not sure abt the prices of either of those
ok thnx will check those out
just Calc three, but be prepared because it is a lot.
oh ok thx, i just found out that i cant take 2 math classes as a high school student at the CC anyway
Ah darn. I have a friend taking Calc three with a bunch of other classes and it’s a lot.
oh wow, we are limited to taking only 2 classes at the CC
Same, but you can take more if you go through special admission.
It’s just a longer process.
That’s how i took classes freshman year
Oh lol, taking more than 2 would probably be too much for me considering my jobs and stuff
Did anyone do dual degree/enrollment in high school?
Yes
Can I dm you?
Ok
Send you a friend request
yes
hi so i am from india
and i want to study abroad
problem is I am a commerce student but want to become software engineer
is that possible?
anyone>
It is possible after you've completed you're 12th
its not
which course to pick
If you graduate taking IT as professional it is.
yeah in that way it is
but i want to do my undergraduate course from abroad
idk about that
Yes you can
ask shoushhuke
what is the name of course
IT science
i didnt find BCA avilable in colledges
It is available, but I don't know the particular course
Bsc is different
Yes,but you need to pass exams
like
u are talking about sat and toefl naa?
okey
I'm sorry idk the particular course
Just try surfing "Colleges that you can take IT as mains".
What should I take after 10th
Arts , Commerce , Non Med , Medical , Vocational
I dont like maths really
depends upon ur intrest and what you want to become
I have got so many things and I haven't Decided yet
What elective should i take? I’m starting high school
computer science
is probably a really good selection
is honors english in 9th grade unnecessary
because i got in but my old english teachers told me it’s better to take regular english
honors is always better
usually honors gives you more gpa which is worth it
if i don’t perform good then it’ll weigh my gpa down more
it’s not much harder
AP Human is good for freshman year if your school offers it
Im Thinking about what courses to take next year?
Which year?
Going into the 9th grade next year
What courses do you have so far?
Computer science pathway is pretty good or engineering etc
Core classes or electives?
Both
My electives are Drama Choir and forced electives are intro business and marketing and personal finance
Core classes Are advanced English math science and social studies and pe
@ornate adder )
So you need to pick 2 electives?
If you can, you could pick one fine arts and one career pathway, whichever ones you like best
Could I get two fine arts?
Or like keep the ones I have?
I mean it's up to you and what you can see yourself doing in the future. Cause if you want a job in business/marketing it is probably going to help to take at least one of those classes
Im not really sure how many electives you get to choose here, but I do hope you get your fine arts class cause they can be a nice break in your day esp if you like what you're doing
Ty
we dont have anything thats ap
dang
I’m in 7th grade and I’m decently smart so I want more of a challenge my question is should I take tests to skip to algebra and biology and have extra electives because rn I only have 1. So should I take the tests or wait until I get to Highschool to take algebra and biology
@ornate adder
@toxic shard
hm? how old are you first btw
13
Hm? and you are at the start of 7th grade? did you just turn 13 or?
Yep
did you just turn 13 or?
ah, born in 2010?
09
ah got it
can you take algebra in 8th grade?
Yea
Ok
unless you are in the rare circumstance that allows you to take it 7th and take geometry in 8th
very rare
but some allow it
can you take high school biology in 8th also?
I think
I want to do geometry I will check school website
I can
if you can then yes
guys, is ap environmental science easy
So I started my freshman year a couple weeks ago, and I’ve been thinking about classes and college a lot. I really want to be a speech pathologist and work in Canada, but I don’t know if it’s better for me to drop French 3 and not get a deal of biliteracy on my diploma and double up on science or keep French 3 and not double up. Im currently in geometry and biology too so if I were to double up on science next year I would take chem and anatomy/physiology
I’m currently a US student but I’m applying for my proof of Canadian citizenship bc one of my parents is Canadian
i got school starting on wednesday and im going into my jr year
this is my schedule:
Pre-Calculus Honors
AP English Lang
AP US History
Gym/Physics lab
Honors Physics
Spanish IV
AP Chem
Chem lab/study hall
Pre-Engineering/MST
self study: AP Stats
does this seem good? any suggestions as to how I could do more next year or get more ahead?
Business information systems as a bachelors?
Thats a lot of classes so i'd suggest managing your time well before you start. Set up a google calendar or something and try to have 1 free day.
Jr year:
AP Biology
AP Environmental Science
AP Calculus AB
AP Computer science principles
Scientific Illustration
Regular English
Regular US history
any tips?
and also this is coming from a person who hasnt took any ap courses and has a gpa of a 3.0
Hi
hello
11th grade courses:
Bilingual:
Physics, chem, bio, buissness studies, arts, PE
I need some advice as idk what i want to be in the future (ive spent two days getting advice from my teachers who ask the same question and i giving the same “ idk maybe medical” answer)
I gotta pic 4 of the subjects 2 of them being sciences
The other two ive chosen to pic arts and buissness studies
I like the medical field as im intrested in human life and all (surgeon/doctor) but the problem is that first its hard for 7 years, the starting salary is very low (esp in my country, oman) and that its hard to find a job outside of my country some say.
I wanted to choose all three sciences but they all suggested me not to as itll be hard to get above 90s for a chance for a scholarship sadly ;-;
i took bio in 8th and it honestly wasn't bad at all. i reccomend taking it
Thx for the info
I accidentally called lol
while taking spanish 2 and algebra
Nice that’s insane my school only offers world languages in 8th
oh i go to a "academy"
it's not that prestigious or anything but tons of oppurutnies
My school's schedule system was completely messed up so I couldn't get any German but in the end I got to take a mixed Creative Writing class with grade 11s and grade 12s… I'm in grade 10 and normally I need to wait a year to get in that class so I'm gonna be the only grade 10 in the class. I don't know if this is a good choice because I'll have one less class to take in grade 11 and I might have to take a spare if the schedules are still bad which means I might not get enough credits to graduate
this is gonna be too much if you’ve never taken an AP before
APES, at my school, is a lot of work.
Going from a B average in regular classes to 4 APs, even though APCS is easy, will hit you like a truck.
Good luck.
your counselors will work it out. Usually you get priority for graduation.
is 6 aps but nothing else for sr year too much?
AP Spanish
AP Calc BC
AP Physics C
AP Bio
AP Stats
AP Lit
Lab period
Lunch
Gym/Study hall
if youre willing to take it it shouldnt be a problem but that really sounds like extra work
my overall goal was to take all 6 science classes available at my school cause i like all the kinds, plus im interested in math so i wanna do calc, they will make me take english, and stats is like another side interest class
and i wanna do spanish cause i dont really wanna have to do a lot if any in college
How many APs have u taken in the past ?
im doing 4 this year
if it goes well thats my plan
Did u take any as an underclassman
our school doesnt let us, but i have taken lots of pre-ap/honors
What type of college do u want to go to. Like a Harvard type, a state school, or a small less known local school
my goal school is cornell
im also used to lots of course work, ive challenged classes on my own on top of the honors classes ive taken
For most people who want to go to the Ivy leave I’d say 8-9 is the goal. If u can handle the stress then do it. See how this year goes, but doing 10 AP’s over 9 AP’s isn’t going to make a big difference.
And if ur spending more time on AP’s then ur college app that won’t work out in the long run for senior year
Good. 6 is a lot, especially with Physics and Calc BC, I’m awful at math so that’s a nightmare for me, but it seems that’s ur expertise, so go for it
yeah, my school requires history and engliush every year to graduate, but they offer history over the summer for incoming seniors so i will do that to free up a period, and then just take ap lit for english
They make u do history for 4 years ?!
yes
My school it’s Math and English 4 years. History and Science 3
I love history and politics so I’m taking APUSH this year, 4 year history would be great
9th - ancient global / global H
10th - modern global / Global H
11th - american / APUSH
12th - gov and pol / AP Euro but theres never enough people to have a class
Ohh. For us it’s 9th, American I, 10th, American II or Apush, 11th, World or AP World
i probably could have challenged the ap world exam
kinda wish i did
but im making it up now
i got 1 A- in freshman year so ill always have a 3.99 instead of a 4.0 which is fine cause it really doesnt make a difference but its annoying cause i like things to be perfect
i didnt really care about school back then
U didn’t care about school so u got an A- ….. sure. U put in enough effort to not get a B loll
Freshman year I got one A- as well
In math ofc
thats true
but the classes were naturally easy for me i just didnt put in as much effort as i could have
so i regret that
but i cant change it so now im just doing the best i can
What class was it
Honors Bio
Which courses should I care about the most to go to University of Toronto on a scholarship for Psychology?
eyy me too!
Hiii is AP Psychology worth it? Or should I take regular Psy 12? I am planning on taking AP Chem and Math, maybe English but I'm not sure yet. I think that I can handle academic stress and workload well, but I'm not surEEEEEEeeEEE
what class
I would take classes with more credits
or at least take if it’s honors or ap
likely not, depending on the class. Credits won’t matter if the class will give you a practical skill or help you in your discipline that you’ll study in college.
Jr year schedule:
Wind Ensemble (band)
AP Lang
Power Training
Honors British lit (online)
APUSH
Spanish 1 (I've never taken a language until now lol)
Precalc
Human Anatomy-- Dual enrolment
If you like psychology then it’s probably worth it. But choosing normal course or AP depends. At my school normal course and AP are practically the same difficulty. If you want to try psychology, maybe choose the normal course but if you’re really interested then AP could be the choice
Also don’t forget to enjoy your senior year ( I’m assuming you’re a senior?)
but because my school doesn’t offer ap psy so i have to take it outside of school (hybrid course)
Ohh
i’m going into junior haha
Oh sorry my bad
nono i’m just thinking ahead haha
Oh so this is for your senior year
yeah LOL
Gotcha. AP psychology would look good on your college application.
Op- thank you 😊
Jr year schedule:
Wind Ensemble (band)
AP Lang
Power Training
Honors British lit (online)
APUSH
Spanish 1 (I've never taken a language until now lol)
Precalc
Human Anatomy-- Dual enrolment
Is this a good schedule? I’m not going for like Ivys btw
Also the extra English class is because I’m applying to a foreign exchange student program this year and there’s a chance I’ll be gone senior year, so I want my credits covered
probably not
but you can’t really fix that
usually ivys want 4 years of a language and precalc to be done by sophomore
I said I'm not going for ivys lol
Lol don't worry
Yeah it's dual credit at my school
sadly not at mine
I'm gonna try and get those A's. Math is what concerns me the most
Sad
ah
instate school maybe
I'm gonna really try for an A in precalc
id hope lmao
My math grades have been improving over the years
mine got worse during homeschool ;__;
I almost ended last year with an A-, but I got a 74% on my final so it dropped to a B+
Oh yeah we don't talk about online school
i got a B+ with a 97 on my final 😭
lol
Some tech thing which is a easy A
should i take AP US Government and Politics, AP US History, or AP World History
Would you say that you are a reader or a listener?
APUSH is prob the best option but it's also hard. Depends on preferences
reader
alright thanks
Do you like big picture classes or classes that go over the details?
big picture
Ap world
akright
I enjoyed that class for sure
Do Grade 9 subjects selections greatly effect what course pathways are available in later years?
i wouldnt think so
ask your school
only if there are a lot of prerequisites for advanced courses you’d want to take later
Thanks
Thanks
in IGCSE ive taken first language english, french second language, global perspectives, maths, physics, chemistry, business studies, computer science. For IB Diploma Programme starting next year, im confused as to what subjects to take, as they only allow 2 sciences and count CS as a science as well, and i want to take physics, chem and cs
but i plan on pursuing CS / physics in the future and chem is just something im interested in so i can take Chem as an extra 7th subject
but for my main 6, i plan to take physics, cs, maths HL, and english language and literature, french sl
but for my 6th subject, im confused: economics/business studies/psychology/history
im interested in eco but have no experience with it and if i were to self take AP's, it wud be harder as there r 2 separate ap exams for ap micro and macro economics
for business, there is no AP counter part and ive already taken it in IGCSE (considerably easier than IB business studies)
but psych and history can easily be self studied as AP's
and i think i need to take at least one of them as i dont have any social science courses yet
- as im planning on applying to MIT which recommends all 3 sciences, id have to self take ap bio as well in 11th
any advice as to what subjects to take in IB + what to take as AP's
?
would it be possible for me to take algebra II and pre-calc in the same year??
both r semester courses, i think so
Should I drop a class for a free period (senior year)
doesn't that depend on the number of courses you have, if its a good amount (of at least a little challenging classes) i dont think it will make that much of a difference
I have 7
But i don’t need all of them to get my credits to graduate
Dropping one prolly won't make a difference then as long as ur using the free time for something
in my school they let us double up, check with ur counselor
👍👍👍
Chemistry or biology
Depends on school. If you have full year courses then it could be possible but i honestly don’t recommend it (pre calc and AB is a better combo imo). If your school does semester courses, known as the excel schedule, then you can and i recommend you do so.
Not a good idea. I asked my math teacher that and he said that you use a lot of algebra II stuff in precalc
Unless you don’t have one math class for two semesters
Nah, like what other people said you use a LOT of algebra 2 in precalc
If anything, just double in stats or Econ
How much math is required for a computer science major? Is it worth taking calculous over stats if I want to go into a programming field?
to take AP Comp Sci Java in HS should I be through algebra 2 completely?
What is the difference between ap and normal courses? How much more work is it? And is the extra work worth it?
AP courses use a curriculum approved by college board to prepare you for the AP Test. Normal courses use a state approved curriculum that provides instruction as which the state deems necessary for a high school student to learn. For most colleges, taking AP Classes gives you an extra grade point (5.0 for an A instead of a 4.0) and getting a 3,4,or 5 on the exam can result in college credit at many universities. In my opinion the work is worth it depending on the AP and the college you plan on going to etc.
Its not required at my school, but probably helpful. For CS you will probably have to take both Calc and stats, but calc looks better.
Could someone rate my course load? (I’m a junior) idk if I should take more hard classes or if I should stick with my current schedule now.. (for background I’m a A student looking to major in some form of science idk yet)
-Symphony Orchestra
-AP Env Sci *
-English
-AP US Hist *
-AP Calc AB *
-AP Chemistry *
-French 4*
-AP Physics C Mech *
My school uses a 4.0 scale, * means weighted (5 on a 4 point scale)
Ah my school used to have a symphony orchestra. Fun times. That’s a pretty good course load, however, BC is highly recommended for AP Physics C.
Yeah I would’ve taken both AB and BC
which I’m doing this year
Did any of you guys have astronomy, in my school it's new and I did not pick it lol
Ouu that sounds fun. My school doesn't offer it.
Ohhh ok well hopefully its easy 😄
I'm wondering if I should take english literature ap next semester, cause i have both math and science next semester and math is a pretty weak subject for me. However English has always been pretty strong subject for mine, and I have a few friends in it that would be able to help me. Would someone be able to help me decide?
Are you on a Semester couse schedule?
yeah
first semester I have english and social
so it'd make sense to take english literature for second semester
I need doctors work papers
Physics? Is that a good course?
I mean it’s a core course
Is it useful in everyday life? No
Is it easy? Meh
It’s good to learn though
Freshman Courses (For me)
Pre-aice biology (Honors Biology)
Law studies
Pre-Aice Global Perspectives (Honors Social Study course)
Pre-Aice Spanish (Honors Spanish 1)
Pre-Aice Math 2 (Honors Geometry)
AICE General Paper (College Level English class)
I know it isn't the most rigorous thing you've seen, but I'm going in the middle so freshman year can be easier for me
neat
I'm taking these courses as freshmen
ELA9
Ap comp sci principles
Web design/dc
APHG
spanish 1
Biology
algebra 1
Microsoft office/Dc
The only ap's i was allowed to join
Is it a good start?
My FRESHMAN(9TH) GRADE courses; all classes are honors or AP
English 1
Earth Science
Technology Engineering Design
Spanish 2
AP World History
AP PLTW intro to engineering
Algebra 3
Health
Also to clarify, I did not take earth science willingly as I am in a cohorted academy within my school that prepares students for careers in STEM field
Also, I am very interested in business/finance, engineering/design, and medical fields
Is this a good start in terms of courses that I am taking?
Do you have the option to stay in Earth Sci?
@here i was wondering if you could talk an endorsement class over the summer ex. Principles of Health Science, Principles of Applied Engineering
What's algebra 3
i’d assume either precalculus or perhaps an introduction to college algebra, might be wrong tho
great!! good luck with world history though
In my state the math system is different, we go by math 1(algebra 1) math 2(algebra 2) math 3 and then pre calc and the ap math courses
Well basically I have to take it this year, but next year the academy places me in both bio and chem
So I’ll catch up
should I take ap human geography? what’s it like?
what is AP psychology like?
I do not recommend AP human geo if you don't want a boring class. Yes, it's an easy class but it is very annoying with all the maps and you literally analyze the movement of the peoples. I would recommend world history because it is a bit harder but it is a more interesting course and you will be more engaged in the class.
That's a cool course load, it's similar to mine, but my PLTW intro to engineering is not AP. Isn't PLTW and AP different? But yeah your courses are good and you will do great if you pay attention.
@austere tulip well I’m pretty sure PLTW is AP weight, not ap credit
Not exactly sure tho
Yeah I checked, PLTW weight is different for different schools. For us, it is weighted as honors, so .5. But at the end of the course there is a PLTW exam, which you can get credit for, which is similar to AP
I see. I heard that Earth sci is easy from my friends. Never taken it tho, so don’t take my word for it.
Yep
Ah ok
thanks! boring is definitely something I’m trying to avoid. unfortunately I’m a freshman so ap human geo is the only one offered this year 😭 I’m aiming to take a decent amount of ap classes next year
Should I take 3 honors and 3 AP classes my junior year or not
Like should I just take 3 honors and 2 APs
What is the average reading (per day) for an AP class at an average highschool?
not qualified to answer this but if you believe you can handle those courses and contribute enough time, then go for it!
My APs give 0 hours to 5 minutes of reading a night and on week ends we get about 20 minutes
tbh idk what everyone be talking about with aps are hard
like how many chapters? 2 about
wut
yeah
My average school day consists of 2 chapters per class
And I'm in 7th grade 💀 💀 💀
I was just curios (and no I'm not reading Mary had a little lamb)
bruuhhh wut
10th grade only AP world
that doesn't make sense
I take classes at my community college and we get like 5 pages a week
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uhsiwcsdbxnlhz8/Cothran_Traditional Logic_Introduction.pdf?dl=0 this was my first day with logic in school
that's nice
||plus the annoying lecture
||
Because I was just curios (since I'm home schooled)
idk everyone says APS are hard and stuff but literally at my school we have a high 5 rate and its really easy to pass
oh lol
Yeah I was just curios
I wish my teachers would lecture
I feel like I'm not spelling that right "curios"
curious
I knew smt was severely wrong
It helps so much in quizzes
yeah I'm just stupid... I knew I could spell it, but 90% of the time my brain doesn't work
