First. Sorry for my earlier unhelpful response. As for tournament etiquette I don't know too much of the finer details, but know touch move, use the same hand to move the piece and hit the clock, do it like: move, clock, notation, uhh when castling touch your king and move it to the square first, uhhhhhhhH H handshake when the match starts/ends, and know all the nuances when it comes to illegal moves and what happens then.

Thats all I can think of rn but I'm sure the other people here will point out anything I missed. Gl :)

You cannot capture the king normally unless it's allowed so make sure of that

Touch move is where if you touch a piece you have to move it and you have to press your clock with the same hand you move the piece with

Also you can only castle with one hand

So move your king first and then your rook

With the same hand

When your opponent makes an illegal move such as ignoring a check on his king and moving another piece, you have to stop the clock and call for an arbiter and explain the illegal move your opponent made where he will have one illegal recorded, when your opponent makes two illegal moves in one game, your opponent automatically forfeits

1. gather other interested individuals to co-run the club or at least actively participate in it. This will be necessary for step
2. talk to school officials. For me, there is a club administrator who I can speak to in order to set up a club. If you don’t have that, if possible ask anyone in the school office or vice/principal directly.
3. If they like it, you’ll be able to sign up to speak to the Board of Ed (may not exist where you are, depends.) This is a group of adults who oversees what bills/changes relating to the school pass and what doesn’t. You’ll need to make a solid argument for why the club should be created with evidence that people are interested (maybe via a sign up sheet with multiple signatures who say they’ll join if it gets approved, or a recommendation otherwise). Hit all 5 “W” questions if possible: who, what, when, where, and why.
4. Get someone (a teacher) to agree to supervise the club. You can’t have a club without an adult to be there to watch the club and make sure it goes smoothly each meeting. They’ll more or less co run the club with the Club Captain, aka you. You can have multiple Captains in the club, so long as they’re eligible as you see fit. They need to be able to help run the club or sub in when you can’t.

Hey man, I'm the vice president of my school's chess club and I'm actually in the process of trying to get my school to host my city's regional scholastic tournament. I know the way the rounds work is dependent on the time control of the games, id recommend a minimum of 15 and idk up to 30, 5-7 rounds with a lunch break after the 3rd round I'd figure. U can have a concession or pizza stand to sell and possibly raise money for your chess club. But anyway just have it on a weekend, get flyers up everywhere, post it online and get your school or any local chess organizations to repost that, and also just talk about it with people.

well you should talk to your club members to ensure there are people able to play the tournament. See what their schedules are like; do they have other clubs or sports after school, are they busy from this time to this time, do they have lunch this time, etc. My chess club meets on Wednesdays after school for an hour and we can do whatever during that time (tournaments, rated games, etc).

Then choose an opening repertoire

There is no best it all depends on how prepared your opponents are to deal with whatever you're doing

If there was a best everyone would be doing it then everyone else would be finding a way to refute it, which is prolly what happened with a lot of openings
