If Hammerhead has been activated and a Harpoon hits, does the player who played the harpoon get to look at the opponents hand and choose a card while channel the bleak expanse is in play?

If they've activated a cannon then bleak expanse doesn't affect it, as you are instructed to look at the hand not reveal it. If they hadn't activated a cannon then bleak expanse would prevent the reveal

Channel Ice - At the beginning of your end phase, put a flow counter on Channel the Bleak Expanse then destroy it unless you put an Ice card from your pitch zone on the bottom of your deck for each flow counter on it.

I think the wording should read as "If you've activated a canon instead you look at their hand and choose (a card to reveal)"

so it should still prevented by expanse for the discard to happen anyways
