Confused on tar-pit trap. If im attacked by a hero, say katsu, with a surging strike, and react with a tarpit. The surging strike hits, which dosent cause katsu to go on the stack? And then if the follow up attack hits katsu can no longer trigger?

That's right. Katsu can only trigger on the first attack action hit each turn, and Tarpit Trap would stop the on-hit trigger.

tar pit trap is a hard counter to katsu's gameplan

Could i get an explanation for this, my issue is that if katsu where to fail to go on the stack his once per turn effect hasnt triggered?

#

Or does it go on the stack and get countered?

Katsu's trigger would fail to trigger because of Tarpit Trap. The important thing is that Katsu's ability can only trigger on the first attack action that hits, which in this case, was Surging Strike.

#

It cannot trigger on future attack action hit events, even if it failed to trigger before.

Katsu's text has been updated, which may clear some things up

So how about the interaction with mom, would that also fail, or would say the 4th attack trigger it bc it says 3 and on?

Mom > mask of momentum

I believe there is a specific rule that covers MoM failing, and not working anymore

Could you post it for future reference, putting it in a deck and want to be sure how it works for Nats lol

If Tarpit Trap blocks the third chain link in a row, or higher, to hit (when MoM would trigger), but the attack still hits, then MoM would fail and would not be able to trigger again because the window has passed.

Like Katsu, it can only trigger once per turn. Once that window is closed, it will not trigger again.

So mom or any on hit goes, fails, and uses up the once per turn

But, you would have to use Tarpit Trap on the link when MoM would trigger and let the attack deal some damage

6.6.5f If the triggered effect is triggered, but there is an effect that prevents it from triggering, the
triggered-layer is not created and will not be added to the stack. However, the triggering still counts
towards the limit of the effect (if any).
