#Question about lending cards during a competitive REL event

A friend needed to borrow a card this weekend for a proquest that I’m already using and can’t lend to him, thus provoking this thought —

Player A and player B both register 1 copy of Balance of Justice in their deck, along with their other equipment etc, intending to only use the card if they pair up against brute. Player A owns a balance of justice, Player B does not. Can player B sit down, see that they’re playing against a brute, and say like “Hey judge, my friend (x) has one of my cards, is it ok if i get it from him now?” I’m curious what rules this is breaking, if any, or if this is just generally impractical. I would think that if both players have the card registered in their list, there shouldn’t be any issue with it?

During a deck check only one of the players will have a balance of justice in their deckbox is the 1st thought that pops to mind

this would be a card-pool contents error

sure, reasoning being that you’re not allowed to register cards in your deck you don’t physically have with you?

at first I thought 'WTH' but it's not like sharing a cardpool. Sharing a card might be ok. Feels odd, though.

Sharing cards between players at a Comp REL feels like s slippery slope.

I don’t think card sharing is what that clause is intended for

impact: yes, is that their problem? and penalty enough that one has to play without it?

I'd assume that the player missing the card during deck check is just like 'oopsi'. So we can't do anything.

Back in the days we did update the list so they can't use the card the rest of the tournament (and IP2?).

Oli: they don't need it right now, that's why their friend has it. The clause is problably there to support the vendors in case the card was actually left at home. 🙂

Why stop at a card? Why not loan your whole deck to a buddy. Play Aurora... fast games. Done in less than 10 minutes, hand the deck off to your friend and only get an IP2 for being late? (Slippery slope example)

Talking to another player after heroes are shown but before decks are presented opens up all kinds of outside assistance issues

"I'm registering this card on the hopes I don't need to go get one but can if I do"

Ngl once I'd clocked it I'd probably raise it to the HJ and they can make a judgement to uphold the integrity of the tournament if they deem it necessary

for sure and outside assistance is also a nice idea 🙂

I can't see a world where this would be legal and without penalty.

Yeah no way is this okay

maybe Jacob can bring it to Nic/Joshs attention

I'm not on policy 🫡

but rules?

They're committing card pool contents error on purpose in order to gain an advantage (not having to buy the card) is it not just cheating?

policy was strict with missing cards before and is not anymore. 🤷‍♂️

I can see the players getting themselves into trouble really fast. They sit down for their round their opponent flips the hero they need the equipment for. What do they do? do they get up and walk to their friend to get it? That's a fast track to getting judge called for outside assitance.
