granted I can't put it in a car or truck and take it back, but it was just a 3-4 minute walk back to my house while holding it, and it was fully functional and I even fixed some cars with it

the lift can be taken from other places yeah, its working as intended because there is no system to lock items and unlock them later
they are either available to the player or they are never available no inbetween
and in base game, you can't buy more lifts so leaving the one in the garage is honestly smart for hard mode, you either buy it if you wanna play legit or steal it cause you need it.

Also the two other lifts are available by the mod shop where with the certain mod you can buy more lifts but you usually don’t head down there otherwise

please, this game has so many bugs, some bad lighting and a lot of stuff. MB (the game dev) mostly updates it once a year. do NOT expect a "bug" like this to be fixed in a SANDBOX and again SANDBOX game.

It’s a sandbox. That ”restricted area” can be accessed in mere minutes by duping cars or using money mods if you choose to do so. If you don’t want the lift early then just… wait?

Car duping by using intented barn methods isn't any more "cheating" than being able to shove your head through cars and objects. And it's not an unreachable or restricted area, you're meant to be able to access it.
