I dont have a picture to add but On 3 separate instances of purchasing junk yard cars the value of each car has dropped as soon as I purchased the car. Ok sure whatever. Then once I have the car back at my garage I begin cleaning the car getting 5 stars. I go to check the price and it has now dropped again.

So to lay it out

I purchased a Bart for $2450 at the junkyard

I then got it towed to my garage where the value suddenly dropped to $1700. Mind you this was before towing, it dropped as soon as I purchased the car.

Then I began to wash the car, I got 5 stars of clean but the value then dropped to $1200

Now this has occurred with 2 other cars since I last played yesterday. I am unable to make any money if car loose so much value, even when fixing them!

  • To add, My game is purely vanilla, and this "bug" was not occuring 3 days ago as I was using this strategy to fix up cars on a baisc level and sell for a decent profit. But now Instead of a $1000-$4000 profit I am loosing thosands of dollars despite getting multiple stars in rust, clean state, and color condition

Having this issue as well, even with removing mods, and trying a fresh install.

#

Pictures taken before and immediately after buying.

Since it happened with the bart with you as well, I wonder if it only affects the Bart? I will do some testing tommorrow and see

The first thing is not actually an issue (Price dropping after buying it - This is intended), the second drop is indeed a bug.

I almost figured the first drop price isnt a bug, but a part of the game. But correct me If im wrong, Is it always supposed to slash the price in half? I remmeber last car I bought was a jesse for $7400, and I wanted to turn it for a quick profit and it dropped to $4200 after purchase. These seems like a flawed system. Not much praccticality in gameplay wise other than being more of a chore. idk Im probably mistaken or somthing...

It should lose a bit of valuve, but 56% is wayy too much. Seems to be broken too then...

Yes exactly, the problem lies within how much value is lost, and my testing shows consistant loss of close to or more than 50% value. Im suprised others arent facing this issue?

So I just tried to replicate the Bug about 6 times, I couldnt replicate it. So acutally car DO NOT drop in value when you buy them. all 6 cars I bought did in fact NOT drop at all, so the dropping prices are a bug

#

Guess its just a random bug that can happen, but doesnt happen often enought to replicate it

Im doing some testing rn and putting it in an excel sheet. So far Ive had a few 1-2% price drops, and then some 50-56% ones as well. Gonna try to find out if there’s a way to reproduce it

Ok great, good stuff. Those numbers seem consistent with what I have experienced so far.

My first batch of tests were on my normal save with no mods. I'll have to do another set of tests with the infinite money mod to make it faster lol

#

Couldn't seem to consistently reproduce the issue, I'm not great with tech stuff, but tried variations of quicksaving, loading, exiting game, etc.

Your testing seems effective, some of those net changes of cost are quite high

#

So quick calcuation we are looking at on average a 33% loss on all junkyard purchases

#

Im guessing this is intended by the develouper? althought some cases like 50% loss and higher seem too high so that may be a bug

Why would they lose value upon purchase intentionally that is not how used cars work at all

foggy heart
#

Agreed, I know it’s not supposed to be a hyper realistic game, but used cars don’t lose much of any value when purchased. Should only be new cars, since traditionally they do lose value off the lot

#

Id be okay with up to like 10% loss, but that would still be a stretch. It makes the rust and paint renovations barely worth doing

knotty rivet
#

So ive been playing alot more latley, and the average is 10% change which is totally playabel

#

I guess the complaint is when the off chance its a 50% loss or greater, I just quit the game without saving and reload

sharp oriole
#

There shouldn't be a change though that's not how used cars work

Yep the more than 50% is whats the big issue.

#

seems like a quick fix by adjusting numbers
