I've been having this issue for a hot minute and it's getting increasingly annoying. Whenever I open a new audacity project and drop in (or import) an audio file, it freezes up completely and stops responding. I've let it sit on not responding once for 2 or so hours, and it was still frozen. I'm not sure whether or not it's the audio file I'm attempting to import (which is just music in .wav format), Audacity itself, or if it's my computer, which would be the worst outcome. The memory is pretty free, and no applications I have typically eat it up, so if ANYBODY has a solution to this issue PLEASE shoot me a dm.
#Audacity repeatedly freezing on Mac

Side note: Audacity appears to only freeze with the audio file I'm attempting to put in, as I just put in a different file and it actually bothered to not freeze. Here's a vid with that other audio file https://s4.ezgif.com/tmp/ezgif-422323f097fbee.mp4
Here's a vid with me importing the audio file that's been making Audacity freeze. https://s4.ezgif.com/tmp/ezgif-4b720fa1e3e867.mp4
the problem seems to be a specific file
so, it's the FILE that is causing Audacity to... PANIK
perhaps can be some corruption on the file that cause Audacity to crash?

Which version did you land on? There are three “hero” versions: 3.3.3, 3.4.2, and 3.6.2. You need the later ones to use the on-line audio.com digital storage, but you need the earlier one to open your older projects. Koz
