#Recordings that I edited in Audacity not being able to play

What exactly are you trying to open?
- an audacity project file (.aup3)
- an old audacity project file (.aup)
- an audio file (.wav, .flac, etc)
Which version of Audacity are you using, which OS?
An audio file, and I'm not sure of the Audacity version at the time since I edited the recordings 1 September last year
The current version I have is Audacity 3.4.2 so it's before that
Are you able to play the audio-file outside of Audacity? (Windows Media player, foobar2000?)
Nope, tried already
Go to the folder that contains the files, give us more info on them by right-click > properties.
Have any screenshots to share?
Did you lookup the error codes and what they mean?
Were the files ever moved, or have they sat there untouched since you edited them?
A common mistake is if you renamed them at some point and deleted the extension at the end of the file name. If you remember what format you saved them into them use that. Example : rename-audio.mp3 or rename-audio.wav
If you can't play the audio files autside Audacity, then the problem is not an audacity problem.
The error-code point to file corruption, that is a problem at the operating system level: https://www.google.com/search?q=error+code+0x80070570
Hmm, I see
What info should I look out for in "Properties"?
After exporting the files out from Audacity, I moved them into a thumbdrive, although I've been exporting files from Audacity to this thumbdrive without issues for years
As for the renaming, the extension is still there
