Audacity 3.3.0 still adds a few seconds of silence to saved mp3 files

Before the MP3 import library was changed, Audacity would automatically trim the padding (using LAME's "gapless" metadata). As far as I'm aware, this is also supported by the new library. Are there plans to re-enable this useful feature?
