#Is there a way to split a clip exactly in half?

Here's a macro for doing that: (download the script below)
See here for how to import the macro into Audacity's Macro Manager: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/manage_macros.html
Once the macro is installed, you could create a keyboard shortcut to apply the macro. See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/keyboard_preferences.html
To use the macro:
- Click on the track that you want to split.
- Run the macro.
I don;t have an import button
Try to copy the .txt file in this folder: ~/.audacity-data/Macros
¿what Audacity version are you using?
audacity is already the newest version (2.3.3-1build1).
You may consider updating to a newer version; the last version available is 3.2.1.
Weird, is Aptitude behind?
I don't know much about package managers in Linux. I am using the AppImage available from https://audacityteam.org/download/
Yeah, I'm switching ot the AppImage
It looks much different
Can I hide the weird bars that are at the top of the tracks?
Those grey ones
They are clip handles that let you move audio in the timeline... Thats the way move to move audio in recent versions.
Aha
The split track macro works in this version, but not the old version I was using
I will try to test it just to see how it works...
I don't think split track is very accurate, the resulting halves are shorter than the splits I did manually, which when combined are shorter than the original
Actually I'm using it to shrink a clip to 1/32nd of its original length
Just to use as snap points for much shorter clips
Maybe I did it wrong, because I did it again and it's more accurate
Yeah, now it lines up perfectly at the end
