in the old audacity, you could use the repeat tool and it would just move what's after it and repeat what was selected. now it says there's not enough room to paste the repeats. anyone know how to turn this off so it just moves the audio after it instead of just not doing anything?

hi! Is it a huge amount of audio that you are trying to repeat? Seems to be working on Audacity 3.1.3 (Windows PC) with small selections of audio. I can make some tests with bigger sections...

nope I try the exact same thing you're doing and it just doesn't work, I'll set it to the classic mode to see if that changes it

so basically what it is is if I select like a whole part of a track then I can't repeat it if there's another part on the same track if these parts aren't connected
so it can't paste the repeat if there's another split off part of the track because it refuses to just move it along the track although in the old version it used to just move it

You need to enable:
"Preferences > Tracks Behaviors > Editing a clip can move other clips"
In older versions of Audacity this was enabled by default.
