#Quad falls out of the sky randomly (potential 4.4 bug)

Build Info:

  • Micro Apex 5 inch
  • Gemfan 5125
  • Hglrc zeus f722 mini
  • rcinpower smoothx 1507 4200kv (76% output limit)
  • 3s 1300mah
  • Elrs v3 500hz (adaptive power)

Yesterday I upgraded from 4.3 to 4.4 and loaded my backup via the presets tab.
Now it falls out of the sky:

  • 1x during punchout
  • 2x during rolls
  • 3x during a very gentle turn (los)
  • 1x while disarmed (~3sec after landing)

Additional Info:

  • i cannot rearm until i unplug the battery
  • motors are turned off (luckily)
  • osd is frozen (rssi and voltage still from the moment it happened)
  • no disarm screen
  • probably no failsafe (lq always 100 and rssi never under -80)
  • the esc plays two tones one high and low
  • Tune and Filters are exactly the same
  • Target is correct, but blackbox is not being recognized anymore
  • There is no vtx on the 5v Rail (probably no brown out)
  • Probably no bad solderjoints (im pretty experienced, but ill check them all later)
  • big capacitor on vbat
  • probably no desyncs (didnt change any esc settings and had no issues before)

I will reflash 4.3 later and see if the issue is still there. Ill put up a diff all later too.
Im just very confused. Feel free to let me know any tests to narrow down the issue.

There is no blackbox log since the flash isnt being recognized anymore, but here is my diff:

i beleive this is fixed in 4.4.3-zulu
please use latest ESC firmware as well.

The one defines does not match what is on your board, or it has a physical problem

Yes I'd try the HGLF722MINI target as that matches your board

Well, go back to your previous target for the moment then. Might be best to take a photo of your FC or the wiring diagram now too

go back to non mini, follow the link i provided for core-only, if blackbox work, then send support-id and output of both version and status from CLI tab.
if not.... 🔮 , maybe dead chip

Nope, you mentioned you had problems erasing it on 4.3

i've read a complaint or two about hglrc QC... never had an FC but i like their VTX. 🤷‍♂️

thought that's what you were already doing

okay, understood. if 4.3 fails, then hardware problem for flash-chip since you said 4.3 worked before. i can't see that any flashing would have caused an issue, it's jsut configuration/resources afterall.

sounds like flash-chip died irregardless of using, not using, not crashing. very unusual and would argue hardware quality control.
fly it as is, or replace. whatever firmware version you choose, sounds like flash-chip will never work. if you want to go through the custom defines, it is only "effort" so worth a try.
with 10.9 you must exnable expert mode / release candidates on the flashing tab.
