To bind all you need to do is 3x plug in the drone to get the express lrs Rx in bind mode and then select bind from the bottom of the ExpressLRS menu on the commando.
You don't need to update betaflight, that will actually reset many many important settings. If you followed through then we'll have to restore the factory configuration from iflight support.

After its bound you would hopefully see stick movements in the receiver tab of Betaflight configurator

when you get a BNF, the last thing you want to do is to flash it

it comes like 90% configured, you just need to add the personal config
