#Hyte Y70; high m.2 temps, bad airflow / blocked by pcie riser + cable (?)

Henlo. 💖

I just got finished building my first PC in the Hyte Y70 non-touch edition and I'm noticing high m.2 temps for the lower slots that's right behind the riser and its cable. I have no clue on what I can do to improve it.

Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
MB: X870E Aorus Xtreme Ai Tops
GPU: ASUS TUF RX 7900 XTX
RAM: 48gb DDR5

Fan config:
3x intake, 120mm side fans
3x intake, 120mm bottom fans
3x exhaust 120mm AIO at the top
1x exhaust 120mm, back fan

The m.2 pcie gen 5.0 ssd all the way at the top has a beefy motherboard heatsink and averages around 50°C when gaming.

The m.2 pcie gen 4.0 ssd below the riser is covered by a motherboard heatsink plate but gets over 60°C+ while gaming depsite never being in use. Idling at 50°C, there are no files on it. 72°C as soon as it gets used.

I'm new to all this, help would be appreciated. I really like the case but if I cant fix the temps I may need to swap cases because as soon as i use the second m.2 ssd it goes up to 72°C which is way too much for a gen 4.0 ssd for me. Thanks in advance.

don't forget to add thermal pads on those M.2. I noticed you didn't mention anything about the thermal pads. Also, 50 is not too hot for these nvme

@livid flower You can also fit a 50mm fan in the low profile slots under the Hyte riser. There are even screw holes there already. I have the same fan set up as you, and while I wasn't having the same heat issue, I put the fan there as an exhaust to draw away the hot air from the GPU that might otherwise get trapped there.

I'd have to take the GPU out for a better view but I circled it in the pictures

Let me know if you need a clearer image, planning to move the DisplayPort cable to the top at some point. So I'll have to shift things around eventually.

I used this fan https://a.co/d/dUa0Hvd and silicon fan mount instead of screws https://a.co/d/5T43EA9 since it didn't line up 100%

# livid flower thanks for the pics, will do this too!

Awesome, glad I could help!

Just wanted to use every spot I could and make the most of the space!

Planning to put a low profile GT 1030 in that remaining spot, to be a dedicated PhysX card, if I can snag a RTX 5090 😆

i just wanna know what gen 5 m.2 are you using that's averaging 50°C ? I'm using the teamforce gc 4tb and it sits at 57-59C idle, going to 60+ in use

with the beefy motherboard m.2 heatsink that came with the Aorus X870E Xtreme Ai Top

I guess the m.2 heatsink that comes with my motherboard (asus strix x870e-e gaming wifi) isn't as good lol or the teamforce m.2 is just bad

Did you peel the plastic off the heat sink?

@livid flower I don't hear it at all... it's at 30% and all the other fans would sound louder if they ramp up.

Probably don't need these pictures anymore but just in case, I took a few more when adding a 2nd gpu

Well I'm future proofing for my 5090. Still have a 4090 as I've had no luck finding reasonably priced 5090 stock. I did find some reddit posts showing the 1030 was good enough for a dedicated physx card. Plus I didn't want more cables so that was the best single slot option
