There were 2 other keyboards that I've suggested with Purple
Q6 and the AK980
#1071070910989209661 message
#1071070910989209661 message
Yeah the keychron one but how do the gateron g reds compare the box pinks in terms of clickyness?
Ok I figured so that eliminates the keychron one bc the browns are also not clicky at all
Yeah true
The only issue you'll have is that the Q6 is wired
I prefer wired
More good
Other then mouse
And headset
Yeah I prefer wired as well
Except for my Xbox controller I use all my PC peripherals wired
Ok I'll order the purple q6 then but after my figure gets released
@jolly coral I am in need of your keebs wisdom
My sis is getting a new keyboard and we are in need of options in the sea of keyboards available.
We got it down to a 75%, linear switches, likes the rgb and doesn't have a preference to wired/wireless
I was thinking on getting a white/pink barebones kit because she will definitely want prettier keycaps
Epomaker is having their spring sale right now
There are plastic case keyboards for under $50

Well, the American Amazon
lol i think the finance dept. has cut me off after today
The good thing about amazon is that they have import/export fees included in pricing, so oddly enough it can be better

Forgot to ask, are you trying to do a budget board @gray wave?
Sorry that I just assumed
Np np, we are good to $150 usd
If you want something in the entry premium, I recommend Rainy75
Linears?
If you're looking for pink linear switches
Loving these Love switches from TTC. The construct and QC of the switch is outstanding, there are pieces of different plastics but no tolerance or creaking sound whatsoever. The stem is long with a flat bottom vs. tappered bottom you commonly see in other switches. Stem wobble is very good, as almost good as Gazzew stems. The switch is plate-...
Very expensive though
On the more budget side, KTT Baby Pink
Very
Damn
It's spring break
Nice
So didn't need to scramble (SOAP) this week
Just waiting until tomorrow to find out who we matched
Ic good luck
Thanks
@gray wave, another good one is the Akko Stellar Rose
KTT is 40g and Akko is 37g
Both are light and thocky linear pink switches
Probably will be a visual preference
The stock Cocoa switches on the Rainy75 is quite good too
The Rainy75 really is an excellent pre-built
Stock keycaps are nice too
So yeah, going barebone vs. Rainy75 would be similar in price if your sister likes the look of the stock pink Rainy75
Huge thanks 🫶
Anytime

Gravastar now sells their cyberpunk keycaps as a full keycap set now
might be time for me to get the Keeb TKL finall

I learn new word today
alright, just posted all of December's videos onto YouTube
I'll do the write up tonight
I'll see how far I get
Yeah dude
I'm def getting a set
Mine already shipped
I gotta pay bills this week, so I'm probs ordering next week
alright, time to start updating for the month of December
it began with putting on some very interesting keycaps from CIY called "Nogi" onto my Ducky One 3 Aura (#1071070910989209661 message):
the original SA keycaps that were on the Ducky One 3 Aura was pulled to complete the Pink Galaxy 80 build for my friend: #1071070910989209661 message
these Nogi keycaps are quite interesting in that the entire keycap is made of soft silicone surrounding a flat plastic piece attached to the stem:
they went on the Ducky One 3 just like any other normal keycaps:
and here's the Ducky One 3 Aura White with CIY Very Peri Nogi Silicone keycaps, unlit:
Ducky One 3 Aura White with CIY Very Peri Nogi Silicone keycaps, lit + ambient lighting:

Here's the typing test with the Ducky One 3 Aura with the new silicone Nogi keycaps.
Board: Ducky One 3 Aura Clear White
Switches: Drop Holy Panda Tactile 65gf
Keycaps: CIY Very Peri Nogi Silicone Cherry Profile
and the 4x timelapse of the keycap installation: https://youtu.be/N51TYjo9caU
4x speed video of the installation of the CIY Nogi silicone keycaps. It's a quick one.
the sound is rather muted and probably a good thing for the Ducky One 3
seems like a reasonably good fit for each other
probably won't be using these keycaps much as I don't think the soft silicone will wear well over time
it's quite porous and will attract dirt and grime like crazy
one last shot of the build:
next was the first of a pair of Akko JIN01 that I've picked up during the sales, this is the Santorini edition that came with Akko's Rosewood linear switches:
exact same construction as the MU01 (#1071070910989209661 message), except the case is made out of metal instead of wood
weight is significantly more compared to the MU01 or YU01 (which is a completely different mount)
ended up ripping out the Rosewood switches and put in some WS Light Tactile (35g) switches:
fairly muted looking switches and aren't the best for RGB transmission:

Here's the typing test with the Akko JIN01 Santorini after swapping out the stock switches.
Board: Akko JIN01, Santorini
Switches: Wuque Studio Light Tactile 35gf
Keycaps: Akko Santorini Dye-Sub PBT Cherry Profile
the WS Light Tactile were excellent and the sound profile is definitely quite thocky

next is the ultra budget metal case keyboard: Leobog Hi75:
really quite an amazing deal considering a metal case, hot swap, RGB, and a knob, all for under $40:
after putting on a few stickers:
I threw on some Kailh Box Winter switches:
and put on some peach blossom side printed keycaps:
Leobog Hi75, Grey, with Peach Blossom Side-Print keycaps, unlit:

Here's the typing test with the grey Leobog Hi75 build.
Board: Leobog Hi75, Grey
Switches: Kailh box Winter Tactile 38gf
Keycaps: JOMKIZ Peach Blossom Side-Print Dye-Sub PBT Cherry Profile
the sound is quite deep as well from a metal case
4x timelapse of the build: https://youtu.be/311BFxiNfic
4x speed video of the build for a grey Leobog Hi75. Installed some switches and keycaps to the kit. Pretty straightforward build.
I completely regret getting this next pair of keyboards
I ended up caving and getting the Adam and Lilith from KBDcraft, a.k.a. the Lego keyboards
starting with the Adam, that literally came in pieces:
ended up using some very expensive Boba U4 Silent Tactile (65g) switches for the build since I was curious to see if some expensive switches can somehow improve a very cheap plastic board (hint: it can't):
the entire build was just annoying since EVERYTHING is left to the user to resolve, like all the holes you have to poke out:
the entire build process was just miserable rather than fun:
worst part: the bottom plates weren't even cut to the curvature of the case:
ended up having to manually grind down the corners:
equally annoying numpad building process:
and more grinding of the numpad:
I just wanted to kill myself at this point
but here's the RGB/switch check:
at least everything works and I didn't mess up the build
threw on some "Bricks" keycaps from Womier with "Retro" design:
KBDcraft Adam Base + Numpad, unlit:
KBDcraft Adam Base + Numpad, lit + ambient lighting:
KBDcraft Adam Base + Numpad, lit + no ambient lighting:
oh yeah, forgot to mention that I've added some bumpers on the bottom to give the keyboard a slight angle for easier typing:
that's why the base board is at an angle and the numpad is just flat
typing test of this miserable build: https://youtu.be/R4hW6RDIa40
Here's the typing test with the KBDcraft Adam build.
Board: KBDcraft Adam (Base + Numpad)
Switches: Gazzew Boba U4 Silent Tactile 65gf
Keycaps: XVX Building Block Retro Dye-Sub PBT Uniform Profile
and you can watch my suffering through the build timelapse: https://youtu.be/Ym_Dzpum3Jk
4x speed video of the build for KBDCraft's Adam Base and Numpad. Poking out the holes for the sound dampening pads was definitely annoying. The extra edge that pokes out from the base plate required some shop work. Definitely more fun watching other people's build videos than building it in real life. Can't say I recommend this keyboard.
second one from KBDcraft is the Lilith kit:
yeah, just as annoying
everything was in pieces
and love that the PCB was just recycled from the Adam kit:
since the build was going to be for my wife, I ended up going with some KiiBoom Taro Cream tactile switches (54g) that I used for quite a few builds now:
ended up wrapping the board in some midnight purple vinyl:
and threw on some old gradient purple side-print keycaps that were being use after the Q6's initial build
and here's the KBDcraft Lilith Midnight Purple, unlit:
KBDcraft Lilith Midnight Purple, lit + ambient lighting:
KBDcraft Lilith Midnight Purple, lit + no ambient lighting:

Here's the typing test with the KBDcraft Lilith build.
Board: KBDcraft Lilith Base
Switches: KiiBoom Taro Cream Tactile 54gf
Keycaps: XVX Purple Gradient Side-Print Doubleshot PBT OEM Profile
slightly better than the Adam
improvements were definitely made
and the miserable build timelapse: https://youtu.be/5XHRx7v-qU0
4x speed video of the build for KBDCraft's Lilith Base kit. Poking out the holes for the sound dampening pads was definitely annoying. The kit was slightly better than Adam, but still by no means a good keyboard. I ended up vinyl wrapping the Lilith in Midnight Purple vinyl.
and one final picture of the custom vinyl lettering I threw on the case:
at least I've found out what @hearty lily was going through in an earlier chat in September (when I've ordered the board): #1071070910989209661 message
oooo, next build is a fun one that I was quite excited about, the Yellow Holy60 from KBDfans:
which came in many many pieces:
first order of business was doing some vinyl work:
the initial build was done with some Keychron Banana tactile switches (57g) that I had lying around
not the best switches, but I don't have any good better yellow switches (yet)
probably the most interesting part of the Holy60 is that the Redux60 PCB that came with the kit provided underglow for the case:
got a fun cheese novelty for the Esc key:
and got some Cheese theme keycaps:
KBDfans Holy60 Cheese build, unlit:

Here's the typing test with the KBDFans Holy60 Cheese Build.
Board: KBDFans Holy60, Yellow
Switches: Keychron Banana Tactile 57gf
Keycaps: ManyuDou Cheese Dye-Sub PBT OEM Profile
the sound was quite thin, as expected, since there just isn't any room in the case for foam
timelapse of the build: https://youtu.be/Kms82Q1jIA4
4x speed video of the build for the KBDFans Holy60 kit. Ended up doing a cheesy build.
some of hte small tweaks I did for this build included adding a EVA foam sheet and some o-rings to the stand-offs to provide at least SOME dampening:
but I kept messing with this board as I ended up really liking the build despite being a very impractical 60% layout with no directional keys
a couple more iterations for this board will be coming
next 3 builds are from my comparison of the HE keyboards
I finally got my Wooting 80HE preorder:
very interesting that Wooting put individual clipart onto each of the keys on the PCB along with a bunch of easter eggs (?):
ended up opting for the Lekker L60 HE switches:
I first tried out the infamous scratch-prone White Zinc case:
more easter eggs on the bottom case:
pretty much a plug and play kind of deal:
ended up going with some EVA-08 Pudding Dye-Sub keycaps:
Wooting 80HE with White Zinc case, unlit:

Board: Wooting 80HE, White Zinc
Switches: Lekker L60 Linear 60gf
Keycaps: EVA-08 Pudding Dye-Sub PBT OEM Profile
after doing the sound test, I immediately took off the White Zinc case and put it back into the storage case:
I also ordered the transparent plastic case as well:
and easily moved the 80HE module over to the plastic case
and here's the Wooting 80HE with Frost case, unlit:
Wooting 80HE with Frost case, lit + ambient lighting:
Wooting 80HE with Frost case, lit + no ambient lighting:
bonus: additional lighting profile with the swapping of the keyboard profile, this is the "rage" mode with 0.4mm trigger:

Here's the typing test with the Wooting 80HE build with the Transparent plastic case.
Board: Wooting 80HE, Transparent
Switches: Lekker L60 Linear 60gf
Keycaps: EVA-08 Pudding Dye-Sub PBT OEM Profile
I was fairly impressed with the 80HE
I can definitely see why the 60HE was such big deal
the software was easy and intuitive
here's the build timelapse including the 2 case swap: https://youtu.be/_GyXT7YlUCQ
4x speed video of the build for the Wooting 80HE EVA-08. Ended up swapping out the White Zinc case for the clear plastic case after the initial build.
the second HE keyboard I test was the Akko MOD007v3 HE, Year of Dragon edition:
very cool looking board along with an additional brass plate
unfortunately, things started going south quickly when I took the board apart to swap to the brass plate:
yes, literal foam bars were glued to the PCB foam to adjust for PCB height difference
the stock switches were Akko Cream Yellow Magnetic linear switches (50g):
which I removed in order to swap the plates:
the plate and PCB were screwed down, but the actual screw was covered by the foam that was glued onto the back of the PCB!
after ripping the foam to access the mounting screws, I was able to get the brass plate on:
closed my eyes and just slapped the whole thing back together

and the whole plate swap timelapse: https://youtu.be/j8N2QcpfZRM
4x speed video of the swapping of plates from FR4 to Brass for the Akko MOD007V3 HE. Got a good inside look of Akko's HE board.
the Akko MOD007V3 HE was quite the disappointment, especially after having just literally built the Wooting 80HE
the software was ghetto
and build was ghetto
great looking case and keycaps though
Akko boards look great as always
but the 80HE was clearly a much better HE keyboard
however, the biggest disappointment was the Glorious GMMK3 HE:
I got the board literally to try out the Panda HE switches:
the PCB was weird, as it allowed for standard 3/5-pin switches as well:
I literally didn't do anything to this keyboard, but took some photos of it being lit + ambient lighting:
and Glorious GMMK3 HE, lit + no ambient lighting:
and did the typing test: https://youtu.be/RKsc4tU5RUQ
Here's the typing test with the Glorious GMMK3 HE.
Board: Glorious GMMK3 HE
Switches: Glorious Panda HE Tactile 45gf
Keycaps: Glorious White GPBT Backlit OEM Profile
given the switches were tactile switches, it typed just like any other tactile switches
the disappointment came when I dealing with the software
at this point, I've built enough Glorious keyboards to know what I was getting myself into
but a huge part of the HE keyboard experience is the software
and the standard Glorious software was already miserable for the normal keyboard
the HE software just straight up doesn't work
I hated the keycaps too
and the case
I ended up ordering another case for this, which I will eventually swap the board into
from testing the 3 HE keyboards, 80HE >>> MOD007V3 HE >>>>>>> GMMK3 HE
at least the MOD007V3 HE was acceptable given the crazy design and reasonable prices
next was another entry from the sub $40 keyboard during Black Friday builds, a Keychron V1 that was $35:
I threw some Gateron Baby Kangaroo tactile switches (59g) onto the board:
and a really interesting set of keycaps from Drop: the Artifact Glow Shine-through ABS keycaps:
ended up throwing on the black knob to fit the build:
and here is the Keychron V1 Frosted Black with Drop Artifact Glow keycaps, unlit:
Keychron V1 Frosted Black with Drop Artifact Glow keycaps, lit + ambient lighting:
Keychron V1 Frosted Black with Drop Artifact Glow keycaps, lit + no ambient lighting:

Here's the typing test with the Keychron V1.
Board: Keychron V1, Frosted Black
Switches: Gateron Baby Kangaroo Tactile 59gf
Keycaps: Drop Artifact Glow Shine-through ABS OEM Profile
but the whole build doesn't sound very good
anyways, the build timelapse: https://youtu.be/pEh6RhOumYU
4x speed video of the build of Keychron V1. Mostly wanted to test out the Drop Artifact Glow keycaps.
a fun little detour was me picking up a pair of Keychron Q0 Max:
pretty boring pair of black and white Q0, which I promptly ripped apart:
the white one eventually became this color:
and got some Venus switches from GamaKay:
proceeded to throw on the numpad keys from the purple ID87 build: #1071070910989209661 message
Keychron Q0 Max Purple Colorshift, unlit:

4x speed video of the build of Keychron Q0 Max. This is the first of a pair of Q0 Max that I've custom painted.
became a permanent fixture for my wife's setup:
the black Q0 ended up taking a bit longer to complete
I'll eventually get to it
as promised, the Cheese Holy60 build (#1071070910989209661 message) ended up getting a couple of tweaks after the initial build, first being a stabilizer swap:
proceeded to take apart the whole keyboard and threw away the stock stabilizers:
and put on some Durock V3 stabilizers:
typing test with the new stabilizers: https://youtu.be/EKofsVojiTo
Here's the typing test with the KBDFans Holy60 Cheese build after swapping in some new stabilizers.
Board: KBDFans Holy60, Yellow
Switches: Keychron Banana Tactile 57gf
Keycaps: ManyuDou Cheese Dye-Sub PBT OEM Profile
and the timelapse of the stabilizer swap: https://youtu.be/7N8LiM79gn8
4x speed video of the stabilizers for the KBDFans Holy60 Cheese build because the stock stabilizers that were included didn't sound very good.
alright, about half way through December
I'll continue tomorrow
new patch came out for Infinity Nikki
going to play a bit before sleeping
Damn I really need a Holy60 for myself
The build just looks clean
Unless you like the look, I don't recommend it
The sound is really thin and hollow. Not quite the sound most people are looking for
There's basically no room for tuning
For the same price, I would recommend the Tofu Redux instead
I really like the look
And for me, it's more about the weight and size for bringing to/from work than the sound profile, as i work in a warehouse, so most sound would get drowned out
It's definitely the perfect weight and size for portability. I really like the normal sized modifier keys on the Redux60 PCB. I really don't miss not having the arrow keys when I'm on this board.
Good to know
Id probs pick this up as my portable board for work or LAN parties (yes my friends and I still host those)
it is definitely very lightweight
if you throw a 60HE PCB on it, might just be the perfect gaming keyboard
The issue is i ordered the 80HE for my gaming board
And I just need something for work, doesn't have to be a gaming board
Although I could just buy the case and module seperate
I'll think on it
I have no complaints with the Redux60 PCB that came with the Holy60 kit
since with the Holy60, you best get a PCB with under lighting
the kit was a pretty good deal (aside from the horrible stabilizers)
https://www.instagram.com/qwertykeys_international/reel/DHyIfedx86L/?hl=en
anyone else here hate money as well?
Ngl black looks good
I just ordered a Neo Ergo last night. Looks like the same PCB but in a split case
I'm using one rn and I quite like it.
Normal keyboard or this
Which is better
10 years ago, i would have said split board better ... but since i have re-adjusted to a straight board, meh
not sure i could go back
I'm working on building a Libra right now:
depends if you have a spare 'B' keycap lol
A flat split like the Keychron Q10 is meh
No
a tented one i think is more divisive
Ic
I've been looking for tented ergo boards recently
the neo ergo tenting is on the more minor side
I miss the good old days of the Microsoft Ergo keyboards
But yeah, more for nostalgia reasons
i wanna mess with the dactyl keyboards from bastard keyboards but i also really dont want to spend money on keyboards
FB has been trying to get me to buy a Naya recently: https://naya.tech/products/naya-create
yeah thats a bit too rich for my blood
id sooner spring for a beamspring with solenoid if i were to drop that amount for a single board
Dang it, shouldn't have searched for Naya:
What it do
4 different modules you can plug into the open rings
Ohhh ic ic
I didn't know I had to wait a bit to let rustoleum cure again after sanding... I've had to deal with wrinkled recoats 4 times now over the past 2 weeks of working on my keyboard case painting
Yeah, 24 hours
Sorry, I could have told you that
All good, I initially thought it was still from the previous coat fuming but finally found out it was from my sanding last night.
Hopefully now I can finish up the coats hassle free
got my tariff panic orange wish order in yesterday, some white sideprint caps and a new white desk pad to replace the one i have that is full of dents and holes
oh, and some cheap guitar picks
I've been shopping like crazy the last couple of days too
Even if the boards are already here in the US, I'm almost certain retailers will start increasing the price regardless
Because why not?
right?
Just moved to a new place, so all my.money is going into furnishings and the property, but yeah, I wanna start picking stuff up before price hikes hit
Better hurry
I'm tryiiinnnggg
Those keys don't look like they will fit anywhere else but the PS/SL/Pause keys
They have the RX-78-2 version
Question for the custom keyboard crew. I have the Connect The World keycaps and they're starting to get a bit dirty. What's the best way to clean them properly?
Without ruining the text on them
Hand soap and water
It's PBT
Either that or dish soap
I personally don't like using dish soap because it dries out my hand
Then again, aggressive hand soap dries out my hand too
But yeah, hand soap or dish soap
i generally use hot tap water (my water heater is only set to like 170f) and just a couple drops of dawn. i don't use any other dish soap.
big bowl, swish them around a bit.
rinse at least twice in cool tap water. lay out open side down on paper towels until fully dry
fight the cats if they mess with them.
for stubborn dirt, i use paper towel directly to get it off - nothing more abrasive
i have 3 boards currently, 2 with white pudding caps, and now one with white sideprint caps
I would use a blower
But that's also because I have a blower for washing cars
Might as well
I appreciate it you two. ❤️
Meletrix Zoom75 TIGA x Sylph Potion Keycaps with Gateron Melodic Switches and custom Sylph Potion coiled cable. Sound test provied.
Forgot to post it but finished the painting for the yakult keyboard last week.
Battled like heck with spraypaint and drying so it's not perfect but I'm satisfied
So many
There were a couple more:
Was trying out a couple different effects: 1) black light/UV reactive and 2) candy
That green one is UV reactive and also continues to glow in the dark after activation 👽
I was trying to see how close I could get to the NK Classic TKL GLO
Despite using a crazy cheap board, the cost of all the paint ended up being similar to the cost of the GLO keyboards
Those look rad holy heck
Green one is masterpiece
💯
I love the new Metaphor keycaps
Anyone got recommendations on a keeb that would match the look of the brown and gold book from the game?
The "Medieval Celtic" AC100: https://www.whatgeek.com/products/ajazz-ac100-aluminum-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=45107241713917
Omg that looks perfect
Thanks for the rec
after a few weeks using the sideprint caps, not sure i could do anything else on a south facing board
Can't agree with you more
I try to get side print keycaps whenever possible
I actually don't like side print caps xD
They aren't bad, but I prefer top print lol
you need north-facing LEDs for those
and you run the potential program with interference with Cherry profile
i only like them for south facing
i was having issues seeing the function keys over my monitor glare lol
LEDs?
My main keeb isn't backlit lol
I thought you've meant top shine-through
If it isn't backlit I'd run a no print caps
@junior granite, finally built my 60HE+ today:
lets goo
the prototype Brazen Mason 60 arrived today and I just couldn't wait:
the EVA-02 edition that Ian never brought to market
I liked that surface
Smooth
Also is back is made from that thing
Which is used to made boards
cork
Yes that
Yo this looks sick a/f
Haven't updated in a while
Been running around r/mechmarket buying fun stuff like this recent purchase:
Mechmarket is a very dangerous place for me
Goddamn that looks good tho
@jolly coral gravastar dropped an HE keeb
I'm more interested in the Ice Ring 65
But shipping doesn't make sense unless I buy 2
But I only want the orange one
So still not ordered

Is it a backlit keeb?
Of course. Anything from AM is going to be RGBed out

You interested in one?
If you wanna get it and save on shipping, gimme a few weeks to set aside some money and we can bundle our orders
Im interested in the brown one
Deepspace Titan?
Ye ye
Chocolate colorway goes well with a surprising amount of keycaps
Plus, Chocolate and Navy with gold accents would look sick
So imma be looking at picking up some nice keycaps for it
The Metaphor keycaps from HYTE should fit the board well:
Shit you right
I thought you pre-ordered these?
Anyways, the autographed Mode Loop showed up today:
These influencers really know how to pick the color combos
That sign looks cool
There was an actual Mode collab version with another reviewer: https://modedesigns.com/pages/alexotos-edition
250 were sold, but the signature was printed on a card and not actually on the board

Guess I caught him as he was cleaning out his closet

Tbh, I forgot about them for a minute
Been with friends today
always good to touch grass
We weren't touching grass, we were drinking, playing MTG, and opening packs
And i got my hands on a $210 card
Beautiful
setting up the next theme:
Dang
since nobody has entered anything
I think I'm going to have to end up throwing the Songque keycaps onto my #⌨-keeb-tkl
and have both the CNVS and the Keeb to count as the 2 items controlled by #🦑-nexus for the contest
the number of available Songque wallpaper is slightly lacking:
anyways, just what I'm cooking up next to meet the deadline since I simply can't get the Y70 build done in time
but I'll get something done by tonight and make the submission deadline
Shouldnt it be better if u like used one wallpaper on all wallpaper
Like
Only one
No high resolution wallpaper exist
I see
HoYoverse only released 1440p
I tried it
Remember, it's 2x 4k screen
It looks absolutely awful
Makes sense
If i had the Keeb and CNVS in, id have everything good to go for a Persona build for the contest
But im a brokie lol
Wait, you still don't have a #⌨-keeb-tkl?
ADHD has me in a constant state of forgetting simple things.
Such as hitting check out on things that have been in my cart for literal months, only remembering when I dont have the funds to make the purchase
I completely understand
Dang it, just missed the sale when both the Keeb and the CNVS were crazy discounted
So you have the P3R keycaps?
Pre-ordered them with my P3 Y60
I also need to get the P3 Y70 for my P3 collection
Debating on whether or not to make a P3 shrine in my room as a joke
I don't think you need to get the P3 Y70
You underestimate me and my obsession for that game
Welp, seems like I'm the only entry for the anime contest
And the contest wasn't running anywhere else
And the P3R Y70
Just says Y70 Touch infinite
Well, if you're going to make your shrine
I'll try to work something out with HYTE,if I win
And that's a big if
What exactly is in your shrine plans?
I'm down to modify another #⌨-keeb-tkl
Baby Blue and White should be a fun color
I have almost every Elizabeth figure made
Im missing like 5, 1 of them I dont like
3 of the remaining 4 are the P4AU statues in its different colorations
No, like what are you going to do with the second case
Im getting there
Are you going to build in it?
Hell yeah. My room is right next to the living room. I've been slowly accruing parts for a living room setup for a while.
Im thinking of setting up the shrine to host both the Y60 and Y70. Run cabling through the other side of the wall to my TV for the living room, and running a small cable channel under my bed to the desk for my PC setup
Great, sounds like a plan
Although I would probs need to custom build the cabinet, or at least modify a cabinet, for it all to go to
You have an IKEA near you
Not like me
30 min drive
Wouldn't be hard, just pricy
I would just do an IKEA hack
Yeah, I don't understand how that works
IKEA used to be the budget furniture brand
Because you had to build it yourself
I wish that was still the case
But IKEA is still good for basic shell furniture made of decently durable stuff for modifying
Anyways, there's always the wire rack route
But those are expensive too now
Also wall mounting
I've got options
Anyways, we'll see what Gabe does
Also: this is my setup rn
Oh dang, didn't realize you're using a QK100
I thought you've got a Wind x98
Just did an Odin build yesterday:
Nothing like cleaning up someone else's mess from r/mechmarket
I swapped the keycaps on the Wind x98 and swapped it to clicky for a friend's wedding present
He and his wife both play a ton of PC games with me and they both wanted to dabble in custom keebs
So the wife got a pink and white Wind x98 with Black/Pink keycaps to fit her desk esthetic
The husband got a Zoom98 from one of our other friends in purple with the Hyte Silver Wolf keycaps to go with his Silver Wolf PC
Should have got her one of these
That would have been great lol
All joking aside, my most recent build for my wife:
That's a super pretty build
Only WS would be crazy enough to be throwing a diamond on a keyboard
The title of this review is hilarious: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wuque-studio-promise87
The Promise87 is a meticulously designed custom keyboard complete with a precious stone.
If someone were to propose with a keyboard, this would be the board to do it with
The pair of Zoom98 I did for my wife and me in April:
Gawd, I'm so behind posting here
Loool
@winged patrol, guess what I've found at the used keyboard marketplace (Mechmarket)
Damnnnnn
Nicere
How much
A little bit less than yours
It didn't have the gold hardware
For you or for me?
Definitely like it, especially I found a purple Cycle7 for my wife as well
I might just spray the back weight of the Cycle8, tbh
damn thats a pretty keeb
It nice
Im on hall effect topres @jolly coral
I might be wrong but i feel arrows keys are wrong
idk if its the angle, but the right arrow looks like it sits higher than the rest
Prob needs to pressed down
Bc its an old photo
Oh
Any keycap recommendations I'm using the razer death stalker v2 pro
That's got north facing LEDs
You'll need "shine through" keycaps or pudding keycaps
(if you want to maximize the LEDs brightness)
Plain pudding keycaps start at $10: https://a.co/d/dYxejP8
Dye subbed pudding keycaps start under $20: https://a.co/d/966RTK9
ill look around thanks
Owllab Ti HE worth grabbing for the Wooting 80HE? Would be swapping from Lekkers when the Suisei stuff comes in.
I'm pretty happy with my 45g Lekker V2s. Huge improvement swapping to the Holy80 though:
I don't think switches alone will do much on the stock Wooting case
Saw that one, looked interesting. But I'd love a colorway that works well with the Suisei case and keys so probably a deep blue. So until SOMEONE thinks about something blue, I'll be sticking with the black Zinc.
But yeah, haven't begun trying out HE switches, still waiting for more to options, but Owlab's Oats that are stock on the Evo80 are quite nice
Fair enough. Could see if those new Tikken switches will be nice too. Maybe even a BLUE case will be out by then.
I think the fastest option is to pick an in stock color and spray it navy yourself
The board already comes in pieces
That's definitely an option, just have to be up to the task.
I personally would go with either the grey or black Holy80 and hit with a new color shift top coat:
The color shift paints needs a dark base like black or gray
I've actually seen that specific can more than I'd ever like, but good to know I can grab it tomorrow. Heh.
Which both happens to be In-Stock:
Grab a black primer while you're out
Spraying over anodized metal won't be a very good grab
You'll start flaking very quickly if you don't hit it with a coat of primer
But I used this color of the Silver Wolf Keeb's plate: #1071070910989209661 message
There's a purple part of the shift to Blue Cosmos
To not have the purple color, you'll need to locate somewhere that has the Imagine line:
Man, your work is great. I bow to thee, keeb god.
And find Turquoise Waters
This color will only get you the blue/green shift without the purple
But yeah, if you don't want to mess with the specialty paints, the 2x primer + paint stuff will work even easier
Plenty of dark blues in different finishes (high gloss, gloss, semi-gloss, satin)
Easiest stuff to paint
I wouldn't wait until new colors come out and just spray it yourself
But yeah, a glitter blue case I did in April
Hated every step of the way
I was trying to do a couple of candy paint jobs and for the life of me, I just couldn't get the coat to flatten out
Oh well, settled for close enough
Here was the glitter red one I did from that same spray group
This is darkest blue you'll get from the satin finish:
@jolly coral Thanks for all the tips, suggestions, and examples! Local store definitely has options to use so once everything has arrived, just need to get an accurate take of the color.
Oh wow
You've got options now
Another tip, spray the shift over the satin paint
The crystals will reflect light differently depending on the base
Not a black base coat, huh?
I would do some test sprays
For example, I was testing out the glow in the dark paint in combination with the shift paint, on top over different bases
And I can try it on cardboard, that's actually in abundance here. Nice!
@jolly coral it came in
Time to wait for Metaphor keycaps
The brown is gorgeous
been using it for gaming the last 3 hours
will say
35g switches is way too light for me
BUT
HE switches feel nice by being able to adjust the actuation height and did make some gameplay super smooth on FF16 rn
What is that circle thingy?
Mode switch
Mode like?
Like difference profiles
You can have a "gaming" profile and the actuation point is at like 0.4mm
And a normal typing profile and have the standard 2.0mm actuation point
I see
I set a custom profile for a .6mm actuation point.
.4 felt too feather-type for how heavy handed I am
With the light switches, just resting my hands was enough to set of some miss inputs
I tested the shallowest actuation point I could comfortably do. And it was between .6 and .7
Oh dang, don't remember seeing it before but this blue with the plate is kinda perfect. May just get Bone...
That stupid tab along with the GT-80 is why I waited for the Holy80
It's designed into the case, so no getting rid of it
ah yeah that's absolutely fair it is dumb
It will bother me to no end
I already know it
It might have made sense with the 60HE where everything is lighter
But on the 80HE with the function row, it's stupid to try to do a wrist strap
hey, with the help of @jolly coral I secured some Owlab Ti HE Heavy switches, and these things are SMOOTH with a great sound profile on my Ice Ring 63. which is a hollow keeb, so its harder to get a nice sound out of it.
the TTC King of Magnetic switches that came with the Ice Ring were way too light for me at 35g, since im used to 55-65g switches on my QK100
I decided to compare the Lekker60 V2 with the Owlab Ti HE 50g
The Ti HE 50g feels smoother out of box with no additional lube or modding needed for a solid sound profile for a nice muted thock across the board, although the spacebar on my Ice Ring echoes.
As such, I've since switched to using the Lekker60 V2 on my spacebar, shift, enter, and caps lock keys.
Everything else is the Ti HE heavy switches.
I have not tried the light 40g Ti HE switches, but that is because those are way too light for me. @jolly coral might be able to give input on those
^^^^ I forgot to reply to you
I'm sure it's the same, just with a lighter spring
I'm not sure when I'll get to building my Ice Ring 63 yet
but I'm definitely excited to try out the Ti HE 40g
(after hearing your review of the 50g)
I'm sure it'll come down to a personal preference
I prefer lighter springs (faster, but more error prone), but some of the heavier keycaps (like ceramic) will need >50g to feel right
i feel like you lose some of the fine-tuning people look for from HE keys when you use heavy caps like ceramic and metal
Yes, just stick to plastic keycaps
You ended up getting the Galaxy100?
Yes and no i got the one back i got my dad cause he got that other 1 i showed u that is the layout hes familar with
So yes i got it but i didnt buy another 1 lok
The AULA F108
Does he like that one better?
Yea so far he does hes use to the old school default 100% layout
Those keycaps go hard
@livid mason yea they fit both case my mouse and the jinx theme so it all worked out plus there differnt
Now that the kids are back at school, I finally got a chance to do some long overdue painting projects that have just been sitting there. Here's the first piece that I've redone, the pink Time65 from Fox Lab:
Still haven't built the board yet, but at least the color scheme has improved over the stock colors that were chosen for the pink case:
For the life of me, I can't understand why the designer decided to go with blue for the accent color
While I had the board apart, I also removed all the "parts" in the watch as well and repainted them to copper to better contrast against the brass weight:
Sheesh
Ngl this might be best looking keeb yet
I've fallen quite deep into the keyboard rabbit hole recently. I've been getting a lot more high end boards recently, especially from the used board Reddit.
Currently trying to organize the mess from the purchases from the last 3 months:
F
Summer happened. Still trying to recover right now.
I dont think it will be plenty time
There's never enough time in a day
Keebs and keebs and a dance pad and keebs...
You've missed the racing sim chair
And it's a pair of dance pads
True
Couple more boards were put back together after their paint job, Stars80:
And the Walker75:
Still haven't done the keycaps and switches on these yet, but at least they won't be laying around in pieces anymore
Preview of the next case to get painted:
Does this board has that texture like idk
Up and down
No texture, it's just flat paint
Oh
No bumps
I was trying out a new painting technique
dude the stars 80 looks clean
super unique
Just need to find the perfect keycaps now
Something like these
those would look clean
couple of boards (Mode Loop and ND75 LP) that were put back together after the paint had dried:
and the Intro S100 that was painted copper the day before:
the ND75 LP are still waiting for keycaps, and hopefully WS will release their LP switches. There's literally no other switch options aside from the linear switches that came with the board.
that copper looks clean
Thanks, tons of paint defects, but I really didn't want to "permanently" paint the thing
Just in case I was to go back to the original color
idk i prefer the copper personally
I can always paint it better as well when the chips start bothering me more
My actual GB was orange as well
So this was extra to experiment with
ended up putting up 4 shelves and got my gym space back:
took 1.5 weeks, but it's nice to finally have the proper space for all the keyboard stuff without having to go to the offsite storage unit
with the mess out of the way, I can finally get back to doing what I love to do: build more keyboards!
Looks so clean
Compared to ur previous photo
Holy shit so much keyboard shot
just a few
Sure buddy
At least that's what I tell myself
I went to see how much it would cost to get a QK Alice Duo (in the US). The answer is too much lol. After getting close to $400 USD I went nah, I'm good.
That wireless receiver is not cheap
Otherwise, it's got the same PCB and plates as the Ergo
400.......
Saw this on Divinikey when I was window shopping.
Must resist temptation...
KKB sets are not that expensive
There was this DMK set that I've picked up recently from Mechmarket:
The all-in-one price:
Problem is the keyboard that I'll end up getting with it
And what keyboard is that?
IDK my wallet will know it if it sees it.
But considering I bought some boots, a dac, a clock, some gunpla and other crap I might want to hold off.
I still don't see a board on that list
I'm considering the Vortex Model M SSK kit, I know it's been out for a while but I've always liked the retro vibes. They did a plastic version earlier this year so it's on my radar. I own a silver badge Model M (bolt modded), Model F XT, Dell bigfoot (old logo), SIIG MiniTouch.
I already own the NCR80 which is quite nice with the Chosfox Arctic Fox switches since the NCR80 has a very plasticy hollow chassis.
hmm but the metal alu one would match the caps better...
Can't quite get myself to pull the trigger on SKCM blue Alps given how poor old Alps switch hold up to dust and grime.
That list of boards was not what I was expecting based on the fact that you're looking at the Duo
It'll literally be 30 years of time traveling on your desk

I have random mixes of stuff.
got the caps since its a GB, i can ponder my board choices later

What about it? It's been out for a moment now
Guess people thought the Neo65Cu didn't have enough copper
It's funny, I never ended up getting one
I do have a couple of the 75Cu
But yeah, I think the Neo65Cu is more interesting than the Neo65 Core
Mines really boring its just Grey alu
The navy one is pretty
Gonna try out a 8bitdo keyboard since I heard they're pretty good. Chyrosran22 (Thomas) quite liked them.
They're awful
Big L
Hopefully you've bought it through Amazon or something, so you can easily send it back when you realize how trash the board is
Read the lower rating comments on their original version: https://a.co/d/bcO8E8u
But at the $100 price point, you can get much better boards
Its 64$
65 actually
Still doesn't make it worth it
Tru
It's Woot so basically Amazon
The absolute worst mechanical keyboard I ever purchased was the GMMK Pro
Expensive and super mid, sounds about right
Been messing with the 8bitdo Xbox keyboard a little bit. It's not terrible for the price I got it at. I think it might be worth more like $55 USD. But the Kailh Box Jellyfish combined with the thin translucent housing of the keyboard isn't all that nice if I'm honest.
The way they rely on plastic tabs to keep the case halves together is probably the biggest gripe I have. I think a thicker plastic housing would do their switch choices better justice. I run my NCR80 stock with a FR4 plate, Cherry profile PBT caps and Chosfox Arctic Fox switches (clicky Box switches) and it's much better than this board despite both being all plastic with clicky Kailh Box switches.
I shoved some foam into the case and taped up the back of the PCB with acetate tape cause that's what I had and swapped the switches with Akko Cilantro. The former two didn't seem to do much but switching over to different switches made the board okay.
Sounds about right
Good thing you've only paid $65 for that?
The build I'm planning for tonight:
makes a okay cheapy tri-mode keyboard with a bit of work
oooo pretty
might try and find something in atomic purple or clear glacier at some point
@jolly coral did u heard about cybertruck keyboard
#1071070910989209661 message
No
Cybertruck
Keep reading the conversation
Thus?
I actually have picked up an OG Cyberboard recently:
Planning on repainting it to a new color as the board is pretty beat up
Yes
Ngl box is freaking cool
Doesn't say anything about Cyber Truck being the inspiration
Ture
True
Its kinda gives vibes of lappy keyboard
Because that title goes to the Cyberboard
Lappy keys are also kinda like that
It's literally in the name
I see
Sure, whatever it is, I'm not paying 1.6k for that
There are some that are worth that kind of money

There are boards that regularly fetches 1k+ on the market
Sheesh
A couple of the recent KC boards: https://novelkeys.com/collections/keyboards/products/keycult-no-1-1800
You wanted big, so let's get BIG! Talking BIG HOSS, lotsa stabilizers, perfectly equipped for full office use. You want numpad?—Its got numpad. You want Frow?—Got that too! It's been teased, taunted, streamed, and talked about—It even got a custom themed version first. But finally, at long last, it's the Keycult No. 1/
That second board has a solid piece of titanium for the bottom weight
Damn
I recently pre-ordered a couple of No.3 TKL: https://novelkeys.com/collections/keyboards/products/keycult-no-3-tkl-keyboard
1.2k damn
That's KC for you
Insane prices
Nah, 5090 are insane prices
That crazy Dhahab edition one
Hmmm true but again its getting less now
That one is crazy i agreed
Weather was good today, so I ended up painting the CB:
Painted a Tomo and a Salvation as well:
The Salvation has the same paint job as my wife's ID87: #1071070910989209661 message
went ahead with the QK Alice Duo since I've been wanting a new board for a bit and since it's basically Neo Ergo guts on the inside if I were to guess, so I know what I'm getting
Yup, there are some snazzy features on the Alice Duo though, like that wireless controller. But you are also paying for it compared to the much more budget friendly Neo Ergo
Purple looks gorgeous

As the resident 1800//Full-size enjoyer
This looks nice
Athena 1800
That looks super nice
Did some custom work for the back to recolor the sclera:
But KDBFans ended up starting to sell extra sclera for the Athena 1800 now
Anyways, I would recommend paying like $100 more and getting the Athena instead of the ND104
I should be building my actual Intro S100 pair soon that finally arrived
I did eventually finish building the prototype one that I've got (#1071070910989209661 message)
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, I've been messing around with 40% keyboards, this one was from last night called the Duo40:
Its so tinyyy
"smol" is apparently the term for these
Woohoo, my recent photo shoot with Cerakey's Lacquer keycaps was featured on their social!
Here was the full shoot with all 7 builds:
Oh yeah, just remembered, it launched today. Did you get the $169 + gift link?
No wonder you were posting about it
Just placed my order and there were still like 130 out of the 200 allotment left

Why i have an feeling u already uploaded this
I don't think I have
It just be my feeling
I have a lot of yellow boards, but. I don't think I've posted the Dimple before
Then prob i confused it with some other i posted
Damn these look clean bro
finally got the Suisei keycaps installed, here's a little preview:
did a full setup with my study
Can't go wrong with suisei clips
There are so much Suisei content online, it was quite amazing compared to Songque
Very nice! With minimal clue too
Logitech G13, often heavily considered the best commercially available Macropad
Coming out during the peak of the World of Warcraft hype, this, along with the Logitech G600 MMO Mouse were both discontinued by Logitech with no refresh
The reason for the G13's popularity comes from a few unique features it had
It was the keypad that had the most customizable buttons while still having a joystick (digital joystick)
With the OG Logitech Gaming Software, you could save profiles locally to the device, same for the G600, allowing you to take your macros on the go as a plug and play device.
And the device API and development software was made open source by Logitech, meaning you could reprogram it, create apps/scripts for its display, and create unique control binds that alter depending on exterior sources
Example: people have gotten the G13 display to show Twitch chat, run Doom (as the video output), and display the active key input that is being pressed
I currently have mine show multimedia titles. So it will display the song name and band I play off Spotify
The device itself can actually just be fully reprogrammed.
Its comfortable palm rest and less aggressive angles meant it also was much easier on the wrist for long-term use, although it definitely favored people with larger palms and longer fingers.
When I quit the WoW Crack that was an era. Progression raiding on 3 toons needed quite the particular KB + M setup for me lol. The G600 was overkill outside of WoW for me but boy was it nice when I was using it. Outlived half my raid teams Razer mice too.
the g600 was perfectly suited for my style of shortcutting when programming and scripting, mapping a lot of shortcuts to the numpad and the ring finger button as my ctrl button
I love this! Reminds me of the main villain in Sly Cooper
welcome @eager crown
so yeah, when doing your first custom keyboard, definitely begin by looking at the layouts
still one of my favorite images:
Keychron is one of the larger manufacturers of boring keyboards
but they make solid keyboards with a ton of layout options
Yeah I'm currently using a Logitech keyboard and it's an 80%. I love the more compact size but I use the numpad a ton and miss it 😢
yeah, once you start in the world of customs, you'll realized how overpriced the major brands are, like Logitech
one of the best way to deal with the lack of numpad for most custom layouts is to get a dedicated numpad
like the Keychron Q0
#1071070910989209661 message
still one of my best keyboard related purchases
anyways, definitely let me know what you're looking for so I can suggest some options that you can look at
Oh that looks really nice! I actually love the way you did that one. I may have to do something similar just so I can use it when needed and then clear desk space up
I'll have to look into the mechanical switches you can purchase because I like them to be a bit clicky but still somewhat quiet. I had an old crappy Razer keyboard that was pleasing to hear but my friends would hear every little click on discord
I buy most of my switches from Milktooth: https://milktooth.com/products/switches
Shop mechanical keyboard switches, from linear to tactile to clicky, at Milktooth.
they have a really nice set of filters
so you can find exactly the switch you're looking for
once you have a switch in mind, I'll probably have some opinions about it
(or even a full build done with the switch)
but one of the quieter Clicky switch is the Gateron Melodic: https://milktooth.com/products/melodic
Gateron reinvigorates the clicky switch category with the introduction of the Gateron Melodic. By infusing recent advancements such as smooth factory lubing and dual-railed stems into this clicky switch, Gateron ensures users can relish the classic clicky sound and tactile feedback without compromising on smoothness.
has a PC top for light transmission
the click bar is on the quieter side of things
Come to the 96% side
The 1800 layout is great
Haven’t been in here in awhile but I never bought a collab so fast
The Hololive x Tokidoki keycaps don't really work for a 2.75-1.25-1.75 split keyboard, huh?
you can take the shift keys
but the profile will be wrong
the set was clearly designed for the JP market with that 4.5U spacebar
it's the JIS layout
Shame. Kinda looks like the Suisei ones will work. But I'd love for to stay on the 80 instead. Bah. Well, not like I need the split.
80? as in the 80HE?
Yeah, was interested in getting the new 60 V2 with that split space bar. Would love to use that extra button. But at the same time, the 80HE is still fantastic. And I'd lose that function key.
Did want to have both keycap sets being used though, whenever everything arrives.
yeah, I was just chatting with @junior granite on #tech message last night
I really don't think the 60HE will benefit from the split
fun?
I am still gonna daily drive the 100%
so for me practicality is not key
could mess around with keybinds to see what works
Yeah, my current 60HE+ is in a Mason60:
how the base layer is mapped out
there's already more than enough keys
Wouldn't the split work as a better Fn key or some variation? Another, "hold for extra keybinds"? Does put it in a nice place for the thumb for WASD gameplay, I'll admit it.
3 layers have all the keys I use covered:
I can see a world where its good for fighting games and so
I was even doubtful until I actually checked where my left thumb was most of the time, if not all.
where you benifit from having extra binds for your thumb
personally I want split just cause it's cool
less about practicality
Well, it's when you get down to the 40%, yeah, you absolutely need the split spacebar:
but like it's not gonna make much difference in the long run most likely
mini boards
if talking practicality a 80% with an extra num pad is def the way to go for me
right, most of the time, only the right thumb is hitting the spacebar
I've adjusted
this Ergo business though is something else
every layout is just slightly different
I type really weird so for me I use both thumbs as well as my index finger on the space bar
haha
I really need to relearn typing
My left thumb is always on the far left than the middle of the spacebar. Use my left for the spacebar too instead of my right hand when typing. Maybe I type horribly wrong...
left hand is more normal but right hand is just what ever finger is close does the job
well, just that usually, the left hand is working harder while typing
right hand is sort of just the assist hand
I type one handed a lot too
either I'm eating or I have my hand on mouse
but yeah, not all of HYTE's collab sets are made the same
hey it works it works
the $150 sets definitely comes with more keys to accomodate more layouts
also there aren't that many sets that support split keebs
which makes the current Songque set that I'm typing on really a good deal
there are tons
they're just part of the spacebar kits for GMKs
I mean for collabs
like, how can Suisei NOT have Tsangan (7U) support
lol
Although, if I do want to use the Tokidoki set on the split, I can just use the default keys that come with the 60V2... are black.
the 1 actual Suisei keyboard only has 7U
yea...
no, custom PCB

I've gotten in pretty deep
Absolute madman.
literally had my first parking lot deal yesterday night
bought a keyboard with egg tarts
lmfaooo
I gave the guy some of my mom's egg tarts
based
But yeah, the board I picked up:
this is an adorable keeb
Now imagine 2 guys in a supermarket parking lot trading a pink keyboard for a plate of egg tarts
@jolly coral so after like a day of getting the 80 he… I couldn’t resist the urge to mod it so I can put the suisei caps on it
Why am I like this
I'm confused, more detail please. I'm not sure about the identity of that board. Doesn't look like the Kibou's 65% Suisei. What exactly did you mod?
its a mod for the wooting 80
the bone80 from aim
