I need help and I don't know what to do. on steam, my game lagged into a crash three times, the last two were in the span of an hour, now I get the white startup bug and the game doesn't launch at all, only gets passed the god-awful easy anti cheat splash screen. I've done everything - my computer is up to date, has latest Nvidia drivers, mucked with the graphics settings to try to make them run better, deleted temp files, I even reinstalled the bloody game and nothing works. granted, I didn't delete all the temp files because I didn't know what all of them did, just the ones with the .tmp notation.

Believe that's just death if you're caught in the middle of a breath plume

even if you survive initially through rolling, the moment the invincibility frames from that roll end you're still in the fire, and then you either die if low hp, or get staggered and eat more fire and die

Souls games difficulty is more of a meme than anything else
If you are used to play rpg,action games/hack and slash,etc it's not that difficult

Like pure melee in Elden Ring is absurdly difficult by nature of From saying 'Screw It' and throwing out making interesting bosses, with a couple of exceptions, in favor of just throwing togther all the mechanics that players have found most frustrating over the years, all of which generally punish melee combat

Well,it is difficult if you try to rush the bosses necessary for advancing the main story,but it is true some builds are too broken

Overleveling only really helps with early to mid game, bosses get grossly inflated damage and HP by the end game and no amount of vigor or weapon upgrades is going to help you with some of them

It's like From looked at how boring Demon Prince was with how tanky the thing is, and then decided to give it Nameless King delays, Midir one shots, DS2 boss pivoting and tracking, Defiled Watchdog damage, DS3-era estus punishing, and Orphan phase 2 crazy janky combos and mobility, but then turned all that up to 11, and that's just every other late game boss

The only thing that stopped me from killing Tree level one was the one shield slam, just couldn't be bothered to learn that with how long it took to whittle him down, so I came back when I had a vew levels of vigor and could at least survive the slam if I had max HP

ER's weird because they simultaneously took efforts to make it more welcoming to new comes, whilst being overtly concerned with pumping up difficulty and naturally making it harder for newer players

Ds1 and then I'd say Bloodborne are the actually easiest to just get into, DS1 has the pacing of Demon's whilst having the world overall be a bit less hostile(no Latria which demands perfect dodging in 3-1 or Defilment's everything)

Whereas Bloodborne just has the most r1 friendly combat in the entire series and makes aggression way more safe

Bloodborne would also raise your defences with any level up

2 would be a contender, but Agility or whatever they call it, the stat the limits I-frames on rolls till you level it up, combined with 1 estus at the start, majorly punish you just starting out

Yeah, it was just an overall bizarre mechanic that any one with half a brain knew would cause problems the moment they heard about it.

Not that it wasn't put in with good intentions, twinking was awful in Ds1 and Demon's to a slightly lesser extent, but they needed another way
