For Sekiro, it’s a lot different than the other Souls games gameplay-wise. The main things you need to learn are timing and patience—but I’m guessing you already have the second one down. You can use certain items in the game to make your posture damage and vitality even stronger. It’s not meant to be played like the other Souls games you’ve already beaten.

Playing Bloodborne really puts into perspective just how noob friendly elden ring is

I mean that sincerely, elden ring is the goat

But there's so much QOL stuff in there. From Stakes, to numerous sites of grace, ashes, summons and even down to the little things like your stat screen telling you how many runes you need before you can level up. Not to mention fast travel and instant access to the roundtable

Shadows was something else, idk how they balanced three normal enemies to be a fair boss fight. Idk if they're actually programmed differently, but part of it is probably the massive arena and their different attack strategies making it easier to single them out

But come to think of it, Elden Ring enemies are also just way more aggressive

you're able to get a free deathblow on him if you go past the entrance of the well, there's a hole you can drop down in. also keep close to him otherwise he's gonna push you into a corner and you'll have a bad time with the camera lol

when it comes to his red kanji moves he's got:

a spinning kick combo that can always be deflected, his last kick will usually be red kanji. you can mikiri counter the last kick bc it's a thrust attack

one long kick with a bunch of air whizzing around his leg, you can mikiri counter that

he can jump into the air, divebomb you and follow it up with a sweep attack. you just dodge if he's in the air and jump on his head during the sweep

you should be deflecting more than usual in that fight tbh, he chains attacks pretty well

@tall jay i seem to be taking way too much posture damage in the last fight even when i get the sparks for perfect guards, and holding guard doesn’t actually seem to speed up at all unless my bar is still really really low. any tips? i don’t wanna have to stock up persimmons for a boss fight lol

i also don’t wanna switch back to ichimonji bc i simply want a move that looks cooler but i suppose i could

u might be right, i’m also missing a few attacks in between sometimes so it’s possible everything just eats a ton of posture

but what abt the recovery? should i maybe be using the posture sugar just to help while i get timings down? it rly feels like with how fast my bar gets to red, holding guard just doesnt do enough

i will say i never rly got into the habit of holding guard in bosses until i had already taken damage bc i just moved around too much, might practice that on genichiro for a bit first. but it seems almost useless unless you’ve barely taken posture damage

that would also make nightjar slash useful for once…….. closing gaps

giving any space to ||isshin|| is rlly risky, healing or anything like that

compared to the bosses before him

i guess you could use fireworks when you wanna heal

holding guard to get ur posture up is useful but only if you don't have low health

yea. that’s tripped me up a lot throughout the game actually, i think trying to heal is one of the few things i still haven’t gotten rid of as a soulslike reflex

also am i just failing the parry or does ||genichiro’s mortal blade|| still damage you a bit through deflects

i noticed a similar thing seemed to happen doing lightning reversals

but i don’t think it happened with ||divine dragon|| so maybe it’s just a timing thing. parried well enough to keep my stance but not perfectly enough to completely deflect or something
