Lots of guard counters, they have several attacks where they just charge at you and keep their noses there for a bit. That's a tiny punish window on anyone else, but for guard counters, it's just enough time.

I avoid locking on a lot of the time, and so long as you just run in one direction, only one of them will give a consistent chase.

spacing, isolating, being opportunistic, using the enviroment, movement tech, parrying, you name it. panic rolling gives the enemy advantage to roll catch you for example and generally just bully you around. dont be afraid to give them a little run, running around is suprisingly effective in separating groups. you could have gone to the fort and maybe lured them there while the bats just swooped in

in invasions I feel like its best to intimidate them into rolling so you can roll catch them

you're welcome! also one good thing to know is that if you guard while twohanding a weapon, you can turn around super fast, the "sliding" animation will not happen. so basically you can just sprint and do very fast spins, making spacing a bit easier at close range, useful for melee builds

Hum actualy it wasn't that much of a trouble for me, but i allowed the use of NPC so i guess this helped quite a bit.
The first true roadblock was morgot and his blender attack, i hate it
The second hold up was maliketh, first with the DTS in front of him (i got the spiked balls out for this ennemy because fuuuu) and then maliketh himself, got him after a while, then it was godfrey and OS stomps, after a bit i figured out how to survive them, Hora loux is easy however XD

@wind lotus its all about getting relics with post damage hp regen, stamina on hit (both mandatory), and something like evergaol, attack buff after being hit or after being knocked, and the raider skill upgrade

For weapon buffs, the actual important one is sucessive attacks increase dmg negation, and damage negation after receiving damage. Hp or fp regen on hit is very useful, specially if it only needs to be in your hands but doesnt need to be the one that hits (white hand icon) since you can powerstance something else

For weapons and boss buffs, you want something that hits fast like fists, claws, dualblades or anything with multiple hit ash of war (spinning weapon is op, and aoe attacks like vyke spear also works wonders, the fire heals you and increase dmg negation too with the weapon buff). You also wanna get as much poise as possible

The gameplay is as follows: your hp regen is tied to the number of hits and not the damage, so anything that hits fasts, even if makes less damage, allows you to instantly heal back all damage, keep aggro on you on enemies, and recharges your skill turbo fast. Its a gameplay where spamming fast attacks and tanking the damage is better than rolling.
With the proper setup, you become too thick to fail

Examples: dual wielding 2 vyke spears and usikg a running attack is 6 hits, healing a lot of post damage and giving full damage negation buff, and against libra you can tank almost everything when you use the ash of war, since the fire is gonna keep healing as it damages enemies, while also lowering the damage you receive

Btw sucessive attack dmg negation can just be on a shield or whatever you find, no need to have it on your main weapon
For main weapon, fist are best, then twinblades and claws. I use daggers too sometimes at the beginning but not viable on the boss, its better to use greatswords or curved swords or lances and dual wield, specially since you run a dual wield buff
Also, spinning weapon or any other multihit aow is broken with the setup

Fists and claws are easy to find early, since its a white weapon drop
But literally anything is better than your starting weapon, so nay sword you can use early will be serviceable
Claws are very good early too but you either wanna trade for fists or twinblades later
Dual twinblades is very strong, i recommend it too

Yeah, best in slot are either fists like grafted dragon or veteran prostetic, gargoyle twinblades, vyke for the ash of war, a big weapon with spinning weapon, a big weapon with wild strikes (big poise, low fp and stamina drain) and marais (marais aow is a ton of hits so once you start the attack you are fully protected and recover all your post dmg hp in a second)

I use claws a lot too if i cant find fists but its just worse fists

go to an expedition in noklateo, get a fast weapon for your character or a fast spell if you play a caster, on day 2 you go to noklateo and aim for specific ashes of war, like alabaster lord sword, morgott's cursed sword, etc., then you replicate it for your entire team, in the boss fight you want to hit libra with the fast weapon to avoid the puddles and spam, and on the summoning phase you just use the ash of war immediately along with your team to clear the mobs in 1 second, then go back to your main weapon if needed

Boss required to get it is pretty easy (in my opinion) just a little funky to get used to at first,

Its a strength based curved greatsword that deals 55 bleed and has an ash that lets you strike and then immediately jump out of the way with LB, and then immediately teleport in and strike again with RB

Before this I was using a +4 dismounter with spinning slash and it only took me two upgrades to out pace it

The weapons you upgrade with somber smithing stones, usually come with a skill unique to them that you cannot change.
Weapons that you upgrade with regular smithing stones like Uchigatana have a default ash, but you can change them at the blacksmith. That requires you to find ashes of war and there's an item allowing you to copy them, so you can use the same thing on several weapons. You can also make weapons scale off of different stats and do different elemental damage when applying new ashes, but that requires you to find various whetstones.
Each ash is usually only available for select few weapon classes, yeah.
