The only drawback is that you can't guard, and you can't use the ash of war of the weapon in the left hand

But dual weilding only works if you're dual welding weapons of the same type, like 2 whips or 2 katanas
If you were to have a katana in one hand and a hammer in the other, it wouldn't work

You have to meet him first by Mirkwood ruins, speak to Kale until he gives you the snapping fingers gesture, use it in the aforementioned location and Blaidd should come down from howling on the tower, go to the back and speak to him, he will mention Darriwill and by the time you exhaust his dialogue you'll be able to summon him

Follow Varré's quest and go to Mohgwyn Palace,the best farming location in the entire game is found there (although it relies on a weapon skill that you most likely can't have on your first playthorugh because it's the Remembrance Weapon for the final boss in the game)

Have yourself available to summon in other players worlds to help kill their bosses too, then you can get runes for killing the same boss over and over again

Ds2 has pretty good hitboxes. People just hyperbolize it. It looks weird because the dodge animation has priority over the grab animation, which makes it look weird because the rolling animation must finish before the grab can start.

If you look up Domo3000 on youtube you'll find a whole channel dedicated to visualizing hitboxes and showing that 90% of Ds2 hitboxes aren't as bad as people say.
