To put it simply, he was considered cursed because of his horns and was locked up in the sewers of Leyndell with the other "omens" you can see there (those big horned creatures). He has been betrayed and hated by all of the Shadebearers and even his parents (so Marika and Godfrey). Mohg is his twin and was locked to rot and be forgotten too.

He was the one who warred against the demigods to secure Leyndell and the Erdtree after the Shattering despite the fact he has been rejected since he was born, even if he was considered a fiend by the Golden Order. However he couldn't become Elden Lord as the Erdtree wouldn't admit anyone.

At the beginning of Godfrey's fight, you can see Morgott being held and it's like one of the only tender gest his father has ever done to him.

"Wilful traitors, all. Thy kind are all of a piece. Pillagers. Emboldened by the flame of ambition. Have it writ upon thy meagre grave: Felled by King Morgott! Last of all kings."

You can also see in the intro cutscene that even if Radahn was considered the strongest of all demigods in his prime time, Morgott still had an advantage on him.

And nothing to do with it? you're literally arguing he must've been that size during the shattering which implies he wouldn't have reached adulthood. Now to reiterate, he grew massive in size so he had to learn gravity magic to keep leonard. It is incredibly unlikely he did that during the shattering.

keep in mind, he's rennala's son. The entire passage of time between his birth, to radagon leaving rennala, to the shattering occurred before the shattering. That was not such a short time that he wouldn't have reached adulthood. And yes, reaching adulthood implies full size. That is every animal on the planet. It isn't something you can simply write off
