Since the normal swing is so slow, I find that quicksteps followed by an r1 allow a poke attack which comes out relatively quickly compared to a normal r1. A crouched r1 does the same as well

just before reaching the room with the azur staff, theres a long hallway with a tough enemy who shoots crossbow bolts at you. before this hallway is a room that youve been in before and theres a ladder that youre able to kick down if you manage to get to the second floor of the room. i tried to be kinda vague without giving it away, have fun on your scavenger hunt brother
