i went full sweaty tryhard, went to get the uchigatana, got it to +10 quality afinity , got the mimic to +10 and boss was dead in a matter of seconds

Anyway this run i summoned people for almost every boss so i'm starting another run without help and without abusing ashes summon / scarlet rott / bleed / frost on bosses

I was originally playing str build with the halberd from Tree Sentinel for the first 40 or so hours, switched to a spellsword that was mainly int with magic straightsword+claymore. I just found it so much harder to stay alive and do competant damage. I switched back to full str+great shield and honestly I wont be going back. Ill do another playthrough as a pure caster after my first playthrough fersure but having a greatshield is so damn good

It's pretty fun to use, but it's indeed not something you should keep using imo. I'm using it atm but prob will switch to a flail i got from a boss that looks fun ( and that boss his grab attack can go F itself, i got caught so many times because i didn't know where he came from )

I highly doubt a weapon is so good it ruins the balance of the game as much as yall are making it out to. To be fair I haven't tried it because I'm a str build but having played every Dark Souls before this and have multiple thousands of hours across the franchise with every type of build, it would make little sense for Elden Ring to bring about a weapon that can cheese the whole game. Bleed+sellsword twinblades were really good in DS3 for killing bosses and would cheese a lot of things but you still had to be good enough to actually not die in the process

Yeah, true it mainly depends imo, my point comes from that it made about 5 bosses i was stuck on with other weapons much easier and so far i haven't encountered much that can shrug it off with ease. ( there is also a spell that makes the wyrm to get said katana easy as hell lol, it's the bane of anything slow )

I've seen some pure casters using a purple orb spell, not to sure what it is but it seems like Elden Ring's version of Dark Bead because they pump a ton of damage nearly instantly

the music stuck out, the art direction is my personal favourite of fromsoft, IT'S AN ACTUALLY GREAT OPEN WORLD LAYOUT, the characters (namely Melina) are more involved in the story, there's just more content and it's all great, it's full of secrets and little events. The gameplay is great and a nice blend between ds3 fastish paced combat and ds1 learning movesets. You can approach legacy dungeons, open world bosses, convoys, and other relevant examples in multiples ways outside of what method of damage you deal. OPEN WORLD MULTIPLAYER. I love the spirit ashes, it gave me a pseudo multiplayer feel when using them, and I used them whenever I could do. It felt like you got worldspaces from multiple souls games and glued them all together. Most importantly, You can tackle the game in any order you like, replay value is through the roof
