The blackflame DoT killed her during the riposte, because phase 2 isn’t a new entity like Hoarah Loux and some other bosses are, and is instead just Malenia, Blade of Miquella altered, killing her via riposte can cause her to break, this is why they updated it so you can no longer kill her phase 1 with a riposte, it will always leave her with 1 hp so this glitch is avoided for the most part, otherwise she dies immediately after phase 2 starts like she does here

I was never talking about popularity, I was talking about which one has proven to be an objectively better companion for humanity. And while it does seem very possible that cats are more popular on the internet, they are not more popular in real life. Therefore, that doesn't say anything about the status of the two species, it says something about the people who use the internet a lot. Also, the internet isn't unbiased; almost every single application is specifically tailored to each individual. If you like cat stuff, it'll show you more cat stuff. As for the "pet channel" argument, dog and cat content on those have always been about 50/50 in my experiences, probably because I don't interact with much stuff about either species. incredibly, very excellent in PvP too, the range and damage are always underestimated by the people I play against

speaking of underrated Katanas, I found out the Meteoric Ore Blade is actually pretty solid, in PvE at least the two handed strong attack is very potent for some stance breaking shenanigans on most bosses

with an offhand magic misericorde with magic glintblade I imagine it gets even more potent
