nah that isn’t what’s being said, while DS1 is still an amazing game and we probably wouldn’t even have ER if not for its spectacular success, it’s undeniable it does have some shortcomings here and there, most of the bosses in the first game are either too easy or unfun in mine and many other’s opinions, when it strikes the perfect balance it strikes it really well with stuff like the three major dlc bosses, O and S, and Priscilla even imo, but aside from a few, the majority are admittedly kinda lackluster tbh

Well I'll tell you my reasoning for this. From what I understand about why she did it.

||She overcame a lot since she was young because of the rot. Basically learnt how to fight even though she missed an arm and both of her legs as they were lost, and she was damn good at it too. She never used the powers of her scarlet rot because she never wanted anyone to decide her fate. She wanted it to be on her terms all along.||

||Now insert her relationship with Miquella, the person she respects the most and wants to succeed to a literal god. Miquella was literally building another tree where there wasn't any influence of a parasite that the others call god. He was doing for the ones who are forsaken by the golden order just because they don't match it's agenda.||

||Now during the time miquella was raising the erdtree, radahn was conquering the lands. Now unlike malenia and miquella he would have been just prolonging the problem by becoming the elden lord. Because the greater will is still there and basically a parasite on this world.||

||Malenia wants the best for his and will is trying her best to conquer the lands for him. So her and radahn were fated to go to battle. She can't really be a bad person if she's commanding an army who know that they'll live a painful life and die soon just by living close to her.||

||So her and radahn fight. Now this woman who has never """known defeat""" suddenly loses because radahn ofc is the most powerful on the land. But know this, she just can't lose because if she does then Miquella is gonna be all alone and the future that they both dream of won't happen.||

||So she either dies here or makes the painful decision of using her powers, the powers that she so vehemently detests. She literally had to sacrifice fragments of her soul to do it. Mainly her pride.||

||She did it so that there can be a better future for the lands between and people won't have to suffer because of these fickle gods.||

Not really. Ranni and us go beyond lands between to the moon and stars. We barely have any influence over the world. We are probably like the silent watchers of it and unlike the greater will we aren't leeching of it. In any way.
There is a literal dialogue where she says that the stars and moon would be very far from the earth that we step foot on.
This clearly means that we won't have much influence on the world and this is very good.

The dark moon that ranni uses powers of is also an outer being. This is given. But this one doesn't influence the world in any way whatsoever.
