impaling thrust gets good damage past shields whereas fang completely ignores them

fang has a further travel distance and some more aggressive tracking, so it's kinda up to you. Poise damage is the exact same

I don't really like him that much

• he doesn't have a lot of combo variation, he kinda just does the same sequences in a row with short downtimes to make it look like a longer combo
• actually dealing with said combos gets pretty stale, most of the time it's just roll-slop with little room for creativity. The fight tends to boil down to: roll at the right timing in a sequence, do a rolling attack at the end, repeat. It's kinda like a sekiro fight without the actual combat mechanics and depth that made those more engaging
• he's kinda creatively bankrupt. The guy is supposed to be a freakish amalgamation of two corpses, but visually he's just Radahn with a couple horns on his arms. He doesn't speak a word, he barely makes any noise at all asides from a small grunt during his own attacks, makes no reaction to getting hit. Compare him to someone like Gael and you see the difference quite clearly. The lore feels pretty random, there was absolutely nothing leading up to it in the base game and even in the dlc it felt hasty

tl;dr he's kinda just a silent, stoic meat bag that you swing at until he dies and he's repetitive as hell
