I always imagined it like what if the final boss was similar to the Soul of Cinder, as in the world very far in the future. But when you teleport to the future you see that Godwyn's body has consumed the entire lands between, with a black sky and fins and tentacles protruding from everywhere. Eventually you reach a sort of "heart", where Godwyn's fight would start off in a beast-like aquatic form, similar to how we see him in the deeproot depths. But as the fight goes on he becomes more and more like his pre-death self, shifting into a sort of "Merman" at first, and eventually the finale would be him coming back in his prime god form in a blinding beam of light that would contrast against the darkness of the entire rest of the world.
