you open doors to pits, or to a narrow hallway with 10 regular enemies in it waiting to jump you. theres like twice as many enemies in some areas as there needs to be. enemies in some areas have massive aggro ranges or intentionally tiny aggro ranges to where its nearly impossible to bait them out without a bow. theres water in no mans wharf where one side is shallow and one side is deep and youll instantly die if you go in. its visually difficult to tell the differnce. the game feels like it wanted more "haha gotcha" moments and occasionally decides to be frusturating for the sake of it

1. Theres like 4 doors that lead to pits. Out of dozens of doors, it ain't that bad.
2. The "enemy spam" isnt enemy spam. It's actually really fair when you take a wider look. The areas in ds2 are actually quite open, so having two or three dudes in there would be far too easy to kite them.
3. "Twice as many enemies as there needs to be." Who tf is setting the bar for the appropriate amount of enemies? You're in a kingdom of undead soldiers, theres gonna be a bunch of them.
4. Aggro ranges have been a consistent issue in every FS Souls game. Especially in Elden Ring and Nightreign, where you get sniped by DTS from across the world.
5. Torch. Torch solves water depth issue. Just like real life, having light makes things easier to see.
6. Elaborate on the "haha gotcha"

the haha gotcha thing was kinda all inclusive, i feel like a lot of the level design in ds2 is setting the player up to die in stupid ways to environmental stuff or other things along those lines and i personally dislike that
