(I will be posting the front views of each character here, the scenes of them pulling trains and interacting will be seperate posts) This is quite odd, usually I do not like mixing franchises that are far apart in topic, usually it feels like forcefully combining the two, so mixing Angry Birds & Thomas is something I normally would not do, but the latter has anthropomorphic talking vehicles so why not. The main character of Bad Piggies (Ross) If he was a British steam locomotive, a Southern Railways (Not to be confused with the American Railroad of the same name) E2 built, in 1915. I imagine Ross in the role of Thomas. I chose a design closer to the actual extended-side-tank E2 design, no splashers, and a slightly larger and different design then the actual Thomas. He is sitting in a nice, clean roundhouse, sort of like the interior of Steamtown in Scranton PA + The Age of Steam roundhouse in Sugarcreek Ohio, and the famous Baltimore & Ohio Railroad One in Baltimore Maryland. Like the characters in Thomas, they have more human like features on their face, so I did that with Ross, making his face look more human. His number, which I put on his buffer beam like Hurricane from Journey Beyond Sodor has, is 1819, because R is the eighteenth letter of the alphabet, and S is the Nineteenth. I chose Luke from Blue Mountain Mystery’s color for this engine, as I think it fits Ross. He has chain-link couplers, no cowcatcher, and no lamp as sometimes British Locomotives do not have lamps. Ross would have similar roles, shunting, goods trains, but mainly, he would do passenger service. The background I made is a roundhouse. It was tricky drawing this, but I finally finished it. I hope you enjoy. 👍

Bro is just Billy 2
A illustration I made as Ross if he was a steam locomotive, & more locomotives coming soon.
I just realized that, he does resemble Billy the Orange Tank Engine a bit. 😅
Another character is out! The Premier 4-6-2 Express Pacific. King Pig (Smoothcheeks) in the role of Gordon. He is on a scenic tourist line pulling coaches, but he usually hauls heavy express trains long distances. I based him on the London & North Eastern Railway A1/A3 pacific, built in the early 1920s, which fun fact, particularly was inspired by the Pennsylvania Railroad K-4 Heavy Pacific class. He is numbered 117 due to K being the 11th letter and G being the 7th number. He resembles the other A1s over Gordon, as he has their running board design, and has circular buffers. Even more will come soon. I will plan to make Red as a Class 08 shunter, obviously colored red. Hope it is good. 👍
Think about the name: "Gordon Smoothcheek" or the "Flying Pig(man)" lol
Illustrations of Bad Piggies & More as if they were locomotives (more in post comments)
Currently working on an illustration of Red as a Class 08 Diesel shunter, like Diesel himself, and Arry & Bert.
I matched them to how I feel is correct personally. The pigs are rounder, on average larger, and less colorful than the birds so they fit the vibe of that of a Steamie. Birds are more sharper, rigid, and colorful so they fit that vibe that diesels have. Plus, diesels can be the protagonists, and main team. (To symbolize the birds being the main character group in Angry Birds)
Other Class 08’s from Thomas & Friends include Splatter & Dodge, Paxton, Sidney, and the Mainland Diesels. My main inspiration for Red will be this minor Class 08 from the 2017 Special “Journey Beyond Sodor”. One of the mainland diesels. This Class 08 resembles Red the most out of all of the Class 08’s.
It's mainly the eyebrows
Finished Red. Here is him as a Diesel-Electric locomotive. A Class 08. These diesels were built in the 1950s for shunting duties. They have a top speed of 20 miles-per-hour. The Class 08 is a very common basis in Thomas & Friends. In this illustration, Red is getting his maintenance done at a dieselworks.
Reference for the locomotive basis for Red.
I'd imagine Bomb being a Co-Bo like BoCo
Figured it made sense for the more chill birds to be based on the nicer diesels
That’s a great idea! Bomb really fits Boco.
I've never heard of Co-Bo locomotives, but I'm sure it means it have one 3-axle bogie and one 2-axle bogie, right?
That is correct. Co-Bo is the definition of that. 👍
I have finished Bomb's illustration. A Class 28 Co-Bo (1958). Here he is on a beautiful morning waking up in a vintage shed during his visit to another region. He has plans to pull agricultural trains, some being livestock trains.
BoCo, my dear engine!
I have finished Foreman Pig as a London, Midland, and Scotland Railway 8F design, a 2-8-0 locomotive. He was originally a design from the 1910s, permanently injuring his eye early into his career due to a bad derailment, but eventually, he had to be re-built. It fixed the issues from his earlier design, however his eye could not be fully brought back to health. Here he is in the rail yard awaiting his next assignment.
What engine will Corporal Pig be?
I assume a wartime locomotive
Maybe one like this

I was actually thinking about using the Hunslet War Department 0-6-0 Saddle Tank Engine.
Or maybe a U.S.A.T.C S-100.
Or maybe a WD 2-8-0 that fits for Corporal
This is a tricky decision. The Merchant Navy class is too prestigious for the military corporal theme, with it’s art-deco streamlining so it would be more on the role of King Pig, though I would love to draw the Merchant Navy Pacific. The choice between the Austerity, and the S-100 is complicated for me. 🤔
I think Prince Porky is the best candidate to be based on a 4-6-2 Merchant Navy.
I can also agree
What about Piggy McCool?
Still thinking of possibilities for his basis.
Here is Matilda. I illustrated her as a Class 04 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter (Her basis built around 1951). She spends time every-day arranging quarry wagons and making deliveries of Agricultural products. Sometimes, she helps transport stone to the docks, and occasionally, she pulls branchline passenger trains. Here, I depicted her without the sideskirts and cowcatcher, but I may depict her with them soon. In this depiction, she is at the quarry she shunts at. She is very gentle, calm, and helps the steam locomotives when in need.
Also, unrelated, what era of the show did you grow up on?
The Sharon Miller, & Brenner periods of the show specifically, but I grew up watching a lot of the classic episodes.
I unfortunately grew up with the HIT era and the early CGI era of the show
I'm from Australia, so I watched them on ABC Kids
Postman Pig should haul the mail obviously, maybe a small engine like the Great Western 14xx? I think I will make him that.
I like trains
I created another one. Here is Hal as a ALCO (American Locomotive Company) Schenectady RS Class Diesel Switcher. (His face is on the Long Hood, so he runs hood-forward) The locomotive was built sometimes in the early 1940s in Upstate New York, and was rebuilt into his present shape as an Rs-3 a decade later. Here he is at an old wharf he delivers grain to on his shortline. Hal is a gentle, wise, and kind engine who spends his time sharing tales and stories sort of like Salty from Thomas & Friends.
Two photo examples of the basis, I will provide more later.
A image of the pre-rebuild shape Hal had plus some other examples of the Rs-3, one is a model.
If you do the Blues and bubbles as engines, they should be narrow-gauge diesels like Rusty
Sounds like a good idea. I need to do some researching on the locomotives. 👍
I think I will work on Corporal Pig for the next addition. A Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST will be his basis.
Ross the tank engine lol
Great idea!
