Love my WisMesh Pocket, would love to build one into a mobile node in my truck! I have an idea for installing one in the 3rd brake light and tying it to keyed power with an external battery for the few days I'm not driving a week. Would be a great addition to my off grid hunting comms set-up

Chicken food and water levels and other cool Meshtastic projects as a software engineering student.
———————————————————-
I’d use it to build a Lora based chicken water and feed sensor that reports the current percentage of food and water from the coop into my home assistant dashboard.

It currently uses a random Lora board I had lying around jankily soldered together and is unreliable so a new Rak WiseMesh board ONE would be sweet! It reads data from an Arduino nano via serial that’s connected to 2 ultrasonic sensors. The data packet is in this form “W22F12P1” where w means water distance, f means food distance and p means presence of water where the chickens drink from (I haven’t implemented this yet).

Another Lora board receives the message and sends it over to my mqtt server hosted on my home assistant Pi. The data is then read from the json mqtt message and the water and food levels are extracted and graphed on my HA dashboard.

Once the water or food hits empty it sends a notification to my iPad that displays the dashboard on the wall.

For the board ONE pocket I’d use it for testing different bridging applications like custom locally hosted AIs to the mesh and try out data analysis on my local mesh, as well as using it as the link to home assistant for the chickens.

These boards would be a great addition for me to create personal projects to help my mesh community -and my chickens! - as a software engineering student.

The food and water monitoring is my first project and I hope to make many more enabled by utilising these boards!

How fun! I've actually been considering deploying a node at a family member's house to provide coverage in a dead zone. That being said, having options to switch around mobile nodes based on what's needed for the day would also be useful, so the options are plentiful!

-# Emoji kitchen suggested this pile of smileys. Not sure why it was recommended for this message, but I'll go ahead and include it 😁

I'd setup a node at a buddy's house. He's interested in meshtastic but keeps saying silly stuff like he needs to be "responsible" and he needs to "save money for his wedding". idk what he's on about but I'd love to get him setup and let him start playing around 😛

I’d love to have a WisMesh Board One so I can design cases and set up a portable solar-powered node that I can carry and move around school! Together with a few friends, we’re planning to create a central hub with GPS tracking—so even if it gets moved or tampered with, we’ll know where it is. We also want to connect environmental sensors to monitor things like electrical usage, whether it's deployed indoors or outdoors. So we can learn, experiment, and contribute to a more connected campus!

What I would love to do (but is very ambitious):

Strap it to a drone (that I do not yet own) and measure signal strengths, maybe by getting a drone that could follow an autonomous route. Then maybe create an autonomous routine that launches it (like in case of power outage) to act as a repeater for a large area. I think the WisMesh Board ONE Pocket would be good for that.

What I would more likely do:

Hook the node up to an app that I would write (I know Golang). A very easy one is hooking it into Ollama running local LLMs for an AI bot, but I would be more interested in something that does stuff. acars-processor, an app I wrote uses LLMs to process ACARS messages based on user-provided prompts - maybe I could monitor Meshtastic messages, looking for specific topics or types of messages base on prompts. I like the idea of hooking Meshtastic into the internet or to advanced apps to give folks with nothing but a node the ability to do cool stuff. The WisMesh Board ONE would be great for this kind of thing.

As it is, I'm unemployed right now so I'd likely have the time to tinker lol.

Hi, this is awesome! I would build a node out of the WisMesh Board ONE and give that to someone new to the hobby to get them started. I would use the WisMesh Board ONE Pocket as another mobile node, I have several for different purposes depending on location and need.

I would use it to build a solar repeater near our local state park's popular swimming area. I have access to privately owned property that butts up against that area. Then I could use it as a way to teach others about meshtastic.

I would use the wismesh board one to build a solar repeater for my area to expand the network out of town and into the hills. I would use the pocket to become an upgraded mobile node to carry and then repurpose my current nodes into additional solar nodes throughout the area.

I’d use it to figure out if my flatmate left the garage door open again, which they do with regularity!

I would make it into a portable node and attach an amp to it to make it even better.

#

I would build myself a new node and give away my current one so I grow the coverage in my surrounding.

I'd love to use the WisMesh Board ONE to build a compact, solar-powered Meshtastic relay node with GPS tracking for reliable off-grid communication. In my region, the Meshtastic network is still very underdeveloped, so this would be a great starting point to establish local coverage. I’m planning to deploy it on high ground to maximize signal reach for hiking, and rural connectivity. The OLED it's a plus to make it ideal for diagnostics and future upgrades. My goal is to build a small, self-sustaining node network and help others in my area discover the power of open, decentralized communication.

Good luck MeshLove

Honestly I'd use them for nothing special whatsoever, the board would just be for a solar node as I only have ESP32-based devices right now (and with SLA battery not lithium due to the climate here), and the pocket would be carried around/general purpose.

I really need a good Mesh product that has GPS, attach it to an amp and solar panel so I can mount it somewhere. Set it and Forget it (for short periods of time 🤣 )

I’d make a portable solar node I can take with me on trips or out camping

I would build a solar repeater in my area that has quite a few Meshtastic users but it’s difficult for us to build a stable RF mesh and this would help!

I'm trying to add this to my farm to control automatic pump controller. This automatic controller got gsm sim but issue is no good network and the seller got more control over that device than me.

What I'm going to do is remove that gsm module (it works on SMS and app) it listens for particular words to activate relay. That's where I connect meshtastic to control over 9km distance.

I'd use it for a mobile node for the car.

I'm trying to get the folks in my office to get meshtastic radios so I'd use this one as a base station repeater for the mesh in my building!

I would use the wismesh board ONE to set up a monitoring station in my well pump house. I need a way to know the temp in there for when it goes below freezing and to tell me whether or not the power is still on in there. I'd have it relay the info to another wismesh board in my cabin where it has more reliable power and has internet connectivity to be able to let me know the temp and power status hopefully so I could get over there and start a generator or fix whatever needs fixing.

I would probably use the dev board for a car node (don't have one of those yet) and then give the Pocket to my wife so she has a node of her own. 🙂

I work in a Very Large Mall™ that happens to be a huge tourist attraction, also a massive dead zone. I've made direct contact with quite a few visitors from out of town who are exploring the place. If I won the Board ONE, it would absolutely go towards setting up a robust CLIENT-mode repeater to cover the area, with the obligatory environmental telemetry and all. I'd also absolutely love to run a little BBS to share status updates, recommend places to eat, attractions worth checking out, and so on.

As for the Board ONE Pocket, it would be my go-to "base station" node for camping, road trips, and other outings! I carry around a ~10ft extendable tripod thing in the trunk of my car that would be exceptionally easy to design a mount for, and it would be perfect for boosting range whenever I need it to. It would even sit in a little charging cradle on the dash when not in use. All my current nodes are either purpose-built to be mounted in a specific spot, or are communicators with keyboards and stuff. It would be amazing to have something a more flexible on hand!

Ideally a solar roof mounted node, then some good rugged mobile gps enabled nodes for a layer of emergency comms. Also playing with the ATAK plugin.

Also would like to do a weather station node and feed the data into ATAK.

Well I have been thinking about making a solar power base for my home and get a strong antenna to bridge the gap to all the locations to the north and west of my location. I also want to make it so I don't need to climb up to connect/update so going to run some cabling or make connect a Bluetooth module. Still debating...
