Should it be possible to complete an update on my node by using the web installer off a Linux laptop?
Most people say "if you've got Linux you'll know what you're going" but I generally don't! Ha ha. I booted it old laptop to experiment.
Ive realized it'll be easier to take a laptop to the node rather than remove the casing from the antenna etc

I have had a couple of cases, where the device seems to loose the node list. I think it corruption when looses power. when low battery, have seen the device (heltec v3) reboot in a cycle. Lots of opportunity for it be lost. But only a guess.
... also the list can get messed up, when the devices loses the time. Doesnt loose the entire list, but the 'last seen' data is lost, or changes. eg I know have connected to my own base node recently, but suddenly it shows 17 hours ago. On the device, all messages show 0s ago, until reconnect to mobile, persumably when can get the current time again.

Wonder if, just the the device was powered on back in London (mpowered is somewhere in london, dont know where), and its last known location was still winter hill before it had got a new GPS fix. Check rangetest.csv to see what packets actully got from there.

hasnt been up long enough to know really but hes also thrown a 10000mah battery in there. Its a RAK 4631 so the power consumption is extremely low due to it being based around a Nordic NRF52

if you were on mediumfast then there wouldnt be any point because you would get basically no contacts. Would maybe work and would be good if there is a specific node on mediumfast somewhere a long way away, but people only use mediumfast for testing really, very few people who legitamitely use it just because it is a worse standard than longfast

True, but i imagine if you made it publicly available and told people that there was a cross country relay network on mediumfast there would be some people on it, and since all relays have direct line of sight to each other and large parts of the country i don't think the reduced link budget would have a large impact.

For example. Can traceroute and clearly getting through fine, but all dates are like 2 months ago lol

It gets super hot in my loft when the sun is shining on it.
So idk maybe something just overheated and some memory got corrupted or was read incorrectly.

its a bit complicated, I recommend watching the full video, but basically because m/f is 3x quicker it reduces traffic by about 3x

it's currently a bit to the west of ditchling beacon, but we're thinking of moving it and also upgrading the antenna on it (seems the antenna we were using is fine for testing but performs quite badly)

We were picking up these nodes while testing on the downs. Hopefully at the Christmas break we can do some more testing with a better antenna. We found that trees and bushes etc had quite a significant effect on the signal which can make it quite difficult to find a good spot. If anyone has any ideas for other places to put a repeater let us know!

I might just reset the node when I go up in loft. The user interface on the app is really confusing. Looks like no one has logged on in days (even us in Horsham) and the time stamps on LongFast are all jumbled

New node in the mesh : BL-M / "BL@Bognor - Mobile" : just a T-Echo with a Gizont 200mm antenna clipped to my backpack / on the windowsill when I'm at home.
I do have 2 old T-Beams (BL-X and BL-Y) that I've used for other little projects, but they mainly just sit in the drawer with the battery pulled.

Red keys are because the remote node has a different public encryption key to what your node has in its database.
Can request a new one by either long press on the node shortcode and 'exchange user info' or by removing that node from the database and waiting for it to announce itself again.

The only way I can think that'd happen is if the copy of the nodedb on the phone has old details for your node - but don't quote me on that !
