I've played with some begginers like that... for us who grasp all skills, description, reaction, steps ahead, decision making should almost be instant, while they could still need to read the descriptions of what things do.

Probably not a wise thing to do in a tournament, but a lot of people could've joined to learn and have fun

Max and minimum matches throught the entire prelim to qualify (that way, it won't matter the window duration since not everyone can play on a tight schedule)

But most importantly...

Increase the time to accept the queue for like 30 secs (also hide the name of the person you are facing)

I don't think a fixed number of matches would help cuz you would have queue problems. As you can see as people start reaching match cap per player, we are having queuing problems imo.

3:-1 W:L encourages and favors participation. Which is good.

But it's imbalanced towards participation over skill.

Not that people don't need skill to get on the leaderboard, it is just too unbalanced. Personally I'd change the ratio to 3:-2.5 for W:L so that is more balanced. I'd also require 5-10 match minimum. But I can see why the mods chose 3:-1 so that there are less people in the negative.

which is disheartening. But as a result, we have a ladder system rather than an ELO or MMR system.
