Abyss counts different than stygian and IT

If I got 1/3, 3/3, and 3/3 stars for chambers 1, 2 and 3, respectively, then I only need to go back and 3/3 chamber 1 to receive full rewards

Meaning that once I've gotten 3/3, I can simply quit the run and not clear 12-2 or 12-3

If you've ever seen abyss summaries from hoyo lab with completely different teams/swapped teams for one chamber, this is why

but any vertical investment would come after getting 3 good teams imo

since endgame content requires 2 - 3 teams

You have a lot of older 5-stars (Ayaka, Yoimiya, Wanderer, Cyno) that can't fully compete today anymore.

For Ayaka: Escoffier.
It'll make her worlds better, but she still won't approach what Skirk can do.

For Yoimiya: I assume Chevreuse + Durin + Fischl.

Wanderer and Cyno can't really be saved I think.
Their best team would likely be Columbina + Ineffa, but those on-fielders are probably too much worse than alternatives with that core.

For the supports, Furina is best used with Skirk + Escoffier.
But she can also go on Chasca's team, which I'd probably do since you already have Chasca.

Though afaik Mona / Fischl / Durin / Furina / Bennett / Iansan / Citlali are all reasonable teammates for Chasca now.
So Furina isn't really tied to her I think

I like to build characters based on my like of their kit and less by teams or meta. However, due to the now added Lunar system I need to have a lunar character.

So my thought was to get Flins, I like him well enough and he is strong and has lunar.

Neuvillette's build is a bit lackluster, pretty much every piece can be improved
Raiden can also be improved, for personal damage you'd likely want to switch to ATK sands given the amount of ER you have already. If you manage to get more CRIT/ATK heavy pieces then ER sands is fine

If you want to get Flins I'd also recommend going for Ineffa eventually (she works well with Neuv, Flins, and can work with Raiden though you'd appreciate Columbina as well), and Durin would also be a nice pickup (you can use him with Raiden and have a separate team from the other two). Furina is also nice to have alongside Neuvillette if you don't have her already

The options with sustain tend to be a bit worse unfortunately but they are functional and will perform fine

Kinda, she is a shielder, her burst grants an EM buff, but her main upside is that she deals a significant amount of damage. And since she benefits from the same buffs as Flins, she ends up dealing a lot of damage in his teams, and she also covers the need for sustain
