their real reason for dealing "no damage" is because they haven't gotten their talents level, weapon level, character level and probably put any remotely OK artifacts (as they won't have easy access to them yet), but rust itself isn't that good on childe compared to someone like yoimiya or other 4* bows either way

For proto sure it only works on enemies with a weakspot, but you can proc the passive quite easily by tapping enemies in the head before fouling, and you can still proc in foul legacy if you hit enemies in the head even if it's inconsistent (although sub 100% chance on geovishaps). R5 rust would lose to a r1 proto with 50% uptime even if you had benny buffs @hollow mirage
