The void currently is very bland and boring so I want to suggest a few ideas on how to improve it steamhappy

1) Making the void actually feel like a place the player is not supposed to be in:

The void is a very interesting concept of a location that looks like it was abandoned and the player is not supposed to be there. This feel could 100% be improved in a few ways.

  1. Parts of old maps: The void could have pieces of the old map, oaklands legacy and woodmil inc terrain around it. The terrain is very distorted to make it feel more abandoned and broken

  2. Glitched terrain: The void could also have broken terrain to make it look like the game is falling apart at such depths. Could potentially add the https://discord.com/channels/865737627712749579/1482482492895264839 too

2) A shop skullostawooga

I know it doesn't fit the void too much but there are some ideas for a potential shop. The idea is to make one piece of the old map have a shop that was overrun by voidlings that sell void stuff now. The shop requires void crystals as currency (like river shop uses lumite). The items in the shop include:

  1. The void vinyl: a vinyl that plays the music from the void and gives the void's black and white effect in the area where music is playing

  2. Camera stabilizer: when equipped allows using freecam in very limited range

  3. Crystal locator: starts beeping when moving in direction of void crystals. The closer the player is the faster the locator beeps.

3) QoL

We can all agree the void is annoying so there's a solution to make it better:

  1. Make voidlings worth killing: voidlings are pretty much just a nuisance to the player. Most people just throw them in void water to get rid of them. To make them worth killing, make them drop small pieces of void crystal like goblins so that players finally have a reason to actually kill them.

The darklings should have a small chance to drop their perspective trophies like the enemies in acidlands, it would be so cool to flex a light etcher darkling in statue form

I dont rlly see why people want it removed, cuz having to deal with darklings like those will bring an extra challenge to the void thats actually somewhat fun

Voidlings can also have item loot like weapons or trophies, not only the dark and white axes.

Maybe a key to make a op pickaxe or smth idk

To add on to the void shop idea a bit more I think adding a chance or making it so the ones without axes drop something like a “shadow token” similar to how the Lumite shop credits operate this will both give a use for the non axe ones other to be dropped in the void and having something you have to actually grind a different currency for so nobody is mass buying with cash

#

If there is a good enough item it could even add on to the market and become a huge seller (which could either be bad for market or good)

#

Ah huge idea maybe for this shop it has something that can get rid of vines for said “shadow tokens” a lot of players complain about the vines

#

Like a void thrower or something I know it’s a bad name but just improvising
