I made a material gradient calculator, I was helped by raiqua a lot in terms of wat web scraper to use and all that stuff. I made this last night and the code is like genuinely just spaghetti html it’s pure hmtl with a json of data. Miraheze carried this project without it ts wouldn’t be possible. Will 100% work on pc and mobile (mobile is a little messed up)

It’s not public yet and that’s because I want to personally tailor it towards the community, for me it’s perfect but some things don’t work yet and it’s not even finished. The purpose of post is suggestions and qol. I will name all the things that are gonna be added and who wanted to add them. 🙂

Right now it has 719/2000 materials in it, it supports mostly everything except dyes and maybe some limiteds.

This is really for any builders who are wanting to make a gradient but not sure how to make one

1 corner to the other color of pixels averaged it and then turned it into a hex and it compares two materials basically

but it doesnt average it every single time

@rose bronze Having a live demo would be helpful for suggestions lol, but here’s some small ones I notice so far:

• The darker shades’ HEX codes are hard to read, change it to be like a colored background then black or white text on top to ensure sufficient contrast
• Change “PIN” to a lock icon 🔒
• Change the text like “Corrupted Blackstone Refined” to “Corrupted Blackstone (Refined)” with parentheses so that it reads better
• I have no clue what the C and T bars mean … either give them full labels or remove them if unneeded or smth
• The copy icon is pretty dark and detailed, you can use a simpler one that’s just the two overlapping rectangles. Material Icons is a good source for those
• Also kinda unsure what the flag icon means, as that’s typicalled associated with reporting people in video games, but again it might make more sense with the live demo idk
• The layout as a whole might be better if you just have the material details right next to / under it on the gradient, e.g. have it be a bunch of columns below each shade rather than the full gradient then the separate rows. Then you also aren’t showing each material/color twice as that’s slightly redundant
• Make sure the C and T bars on the endpoints align with the other in-between shades for easier comparison, or if they aren’t needed at all then just remove them

1. Idk why the ‘s’ in Oaklands at the top is purple
2. Subtext under the controls is redundant, especially “Prevent Repeats / no repeats”
3. Horizontal/Vertical toggle in the top-right would prob work better with just a switch toggle (left or right) with the icons, or words written out
4. Capitalization is generally inconsistent; sometimes you use Title Case, other times lowercase… I’d recommend to choose one and stick with it. Most notable example is “Theme” and “theme”
5. Theme icon is pretty ambiguous, something like a palette or paintbrush would prob be better. Also the theme button in the far top-right corner can probably be kept under just the settings menu instead of having its own button
6. Lots of the buttons’ icons or text aren’t vertically centered, e.g. the Amethyst Forged chip in the top left and the gradient calculator chip in the bottom left
7. I feel like this layout generally wouldn’t work well on mobile at all unless you’ve already built in good flexible design

2. Would be nice to be able to limit the number of total materials used (e.g. if you only want 6 or 7 different materials 😏). Dithering (and maybe dithering method options) would prob be necessary alongside this
3. More control over specific material options would be nice, e.g. being able to use a whitelist or blacklist for specific materials (not just groups)

1. Everything’s just really really wide … maybe make the palette colors taller so they’re taller rectangles, and bring the hex codes closer to the material names in the gradient preview
2. From a user perspective, I think it’s really unclear what “steps per segment” means or how it affects the palette
3. The contrast and accent colors both seem to just be the same as the contrast ones…
4. Are the four squares below each color just similar options you can switch to? If so, labeling that would be helpful

You would normally use a dome but it only goes to 30x30x30 so you’d then use cubes to rotate around your entire plot and then delete the excesss and use gap filling to smoothen it out which isn’t worth it cuz it’ll be like 20k schematics at the least and that’s pretty darn laggy for a public server so yeah but that’s for full plot @grim bronze
