The Oak-Arcade: Under development

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Oak Arcade.

If you've seen my first post, I recently finalized version 2 of Oak-Chess, which is a completely digital game within Oaklands. I plan on potentially releasing a v2.5 and maybe even a v3 later on for the same game. However as the game is now fully functional, without any major flaws, I'll be expanding into more projects!

Please feel free to offer up your favorite games, as I'd love to try replicating them into Oaklands : )

The next project being worked on will be Oak-Checkers! It should have a similar setup to Chess, but different movement features.

Finally, I'll be starting up a Chess Tournament with the winner getting $100k. We'll need 8 players to start, so hmu if you're interested either by ping or DM.

Free time for me is pretty much all of Wednesday and the nights of just about every other day, also Sunday is usually free. Competitors only need to be in the game for their competition. They don't need to be present to spectate the games of others, but are welcome. I will referee all matches and all matches will be recorded for my view only, to prevent cheating.

Yeah 100% imma rework the brackets tonight since we got more people. But it will be after 5pm est. The way this will work is the competitors will meet at any time and compete. Only thing is I need to be online for it. Additionally this tournament will remain active till 9/11 as I have plans for the days following.

What this means is you and your opponent can decide to meet for the match 8/31/25 10pm EST, ping me to see if I'll be active (I likely will), and have youe match.

If you and your opponent can't find a good meeting time, you can trade with someone from another bracket.

Depends on how many people we have by Saturday. Say we have 16 people.

The first round has 8 games
The second round has 4 games
Third round has 2 for the semi-final
And the final is 1 game.

So with 16 players we'd have a total of 15 games total. However youd only play in a max of 4

Ahhhh. I did experiment with that. Not for the board itself, but for tiles. For the board it's 64 electronic billboards with a plane on top of each. The image shows through the tile, and I can change the billboard output with logic. Sadly can't change posters with logic

Anyone who wants to compete is welcome. You will only need yourself and an opponent. So this is how we'll do it.

Entry is possible till October 10th. There will be no brackets until we start the second bracket. The delay between now and October 10th will act as an "entry" bracket. Endless openings. You simply must win a round with an opponent to be entered. For questions ping me.

I'll be clocking in "Active" and "Inactive" during avaliable hours so people don't have to guess. If you want to be pinged when I'm active let me know.

Gonna bump to Arcade! Line up to join the tourny! Entries close October 10th, to enter you need only compete against another player and win. Players who lose for entry positions may compete against other opponents for spots as well.

Now, updates on new games. I haven't made much progress as I've lacked the motivation for it. But. I put some thought into mayhaps having the Chess board and Checkers board function on the same table. It would only be a matter of changing around the pieces and making a toggle to switch between game modes. I'll be trying this a little later, and also I'll be implementing Chat based coordinate selection rather than button movement. As a final update I've put some thought into V3 for chess. There are things I can do, so I'll be sure to keep that updated. It's been fun so far and thanks to those who have shown interest in the project. After Oak Chess/Checkers v2.5 release I'll be working on card games like poker and blackjack

how does that work?

Typing A1 in the chat for example will trigger the A1 relay to send a number input signal, in this case "111" which goes to a memory unit. The memory unit holds and sends the number to the coordinate map generator (identifies the coordinate for the board itself) and that triggers the A1 coordinate. With the A1 coordinate active, it can take inputs from the piece placer.

The first two digits are the letter, which would be A, the last number is the normal number, in this case 1.

As another example, number 165 would be F5.

Thats kinda how it works actually.

Coordinate selection:

Calculators raise and lower the number stored in a memory unit and resets itself if the output is too high. This happens for both A-H and 1-8. This passes to a number combiner with possible numbers of 111-188 (A1-H8)

Coordinate map:

The Coordinate map is a set up AND Gates and number interfaces. A signal wire from the output of Coordinate selector connects to all AND gates, and each AND gate also receives a number-input between 111 and 188. Whichever signal is sent from the selector activates the and gate.

Coordinate placer:

The and gate that fires goes to a relay which allows signals to transfer from a piece selector. The relay has one output straight to the reset intake, and one to a tether which then delays the transfer to the memory intake allowing changes in pieces.

That connects to the board and boom.
