Seeing the Aurora Borealis in game sometimes made me think of an event based tree like the electrified one,
Making the Aurora more rare and adding a random chance of a thing that falls on the ground randomly (I know its not realistic but bare with me) It would be like the lightning, but, instead of lightning it's a ray of Aurora falling, if it hits a tree it turns it into an Aurora tree, giving it a rainbow appearance (maybe like a cel-coating with an animated rainbow texture?), oh and I also propose another secret thing to go along with it but sharing it publicly would ruin the fun of it :P
