I feel like the ocean can be a little more detailed plus be a biome on its own and if it were really worked on maybe like a reef with more materials or something like that also maybe even a deep sea/abyss within the new ocean for late game with scuba where there is who knows what. There is so much interesting things that could be done with this idea and the ocean could definitely use it.

why not give the surfboards a use other than decorating?
here's an example:
if you place a surfboard on water, you will be able to surf (works like riding a car but there's a new pose for it other than sitting) and do some tricks. Also if you go too far into the ocean on a surfboard (probably like 1k studs from the beach)
you will be teleported to the "deep ocean location" the location itself is really big, just almost a big as half of the main map.
in the deep ocean you will find a new type of kelp which is corals, it costs $1 if not used correctly, but if you bring it to a new shop at an island in the main map the corals can be only mined by pickaxes that are refined level or higher and the corals will give you a new currency which is fish:
10 fish (not processed)
30 fish (if sanded)
50 (planked + sanded)

for 1 stud of corals

You can also buy new things from the shop which is called "fishfinds"
the shop has a counter of fish which you need to step on for it to show how much fish you have right now.

Teleporter: looks like a gray pad with a blue circle inside. Teleports you to the same colored teleporter on your base (can be used like a multi-floor lift for tall bases if you build them)
price: 5k fish/1

The Ultra Grabby Grabber: same as the grabbiest grabber, except the range is bigger by 5,3 studs and the color is purple
price: 20k fish

Sailor: a small boat that can carry corals
price: 3k fish

Carrier: a big boat that can carry even more kelp
price: 10k fish

Triller: a small, trailer-like boat
price: 2k fish

The Super Surfboard: a surfboard with rocket thrusters attached to its back, the thrusters emit a water trail.
