this sport is different than sports like nba where you have all game to hit a line, and even if you start slow you can still hit. in cricket, it's like baseball with one at bat, you keep playing as long as you don't get out, but the moment you get out, you're done for the game. any player could get out for just a handful of runs and get out early, while others could end up batting out the entire game and collect 70+ runs. people who send picks can have leans based on prior history of the player, but due to the fact that you only get one life, even the players set up in the best positions can still go under

wouldn’t say that. each player has an “average” amount of runs they score per at-bat in their career, and usually when you compare to the lines that PP has, some of these players have higher averages than the line, meaning they’re more likely to go over than under. the catch with the “average” is that there will be some poor performances to counterbalance the really good ones

so right now these matches lock at 9:30 am EST (or 5:30 EST for the early matches), which is when the "toss" happens to decide who bats first and who bowls first, but the key point is that lineups aren't announced by this current lock time. lineups are announced right after the toss, and then the match starts at 10 am EST (or 6 am EST). i would want the lock to be at these 10:00 am EST or 6:00 am EST instead of the 30 minutes early that it is right now

i can help you with that. shreyas and rohit are currently some of the best T20 batsmen in the world. if you check their stats, rohit has an average of 32.48 and iyer 36.77, meaning on average they would go over their line. the thing about an average is that they will go over a lot, but also will go under sometimes (that's just the nature of an average). but if you pick them consistently, you'll win more than lose. today was just unlucky!

sure! so basically, once a batter comes up to bat, they face bowling (like pitching in baseball) from the opposing team, and their goal is to score runs while defending their wickets, which are 3 wooden stumps behind them. on each ball they face, their primary goal should be to defend their wicket, and then try to score runs. batsmen can get out in a number of ways, the most common are to get caught out (just like in baseball, on the fly), get "bowled" (meaning the ball knocks over the stumps behind them), or LBW (the ball hits them on their body, but if they weren't standing there, the ball would have crashed into the stumps). as a result, on every ball they face, there's always a possibility that they get out on that ball. of course, some batsmen are better than others, so historically they tend to score more runs before getting out (on PP, these players will have higher run lines). these good players tend to score higher than their line more often than not, but due to the nature of that possibility of getting out on any ball they face, sometimes they get out for very few runs. in the format for this tournament, once a batsman gets their wicket taken, they're done and don't come back.
