The Play of the Day returns. I’m not overthinking this prop any more. First of all, it’s just a no brainer spot. Tigers starter Flaherty is out, Cleveland big favorites today around -160. Bibee heavily favored over his K’s everywhere. Detroit lineup is now confirmed and does not scare me.

Besides the eye test, the model now has bumped all projections for Bibee after the confirmed lineups. Not only that but Cleveland is now the top favorite on the entire slate to Win today on the sims, now coming in at 60.8%. Model projects Bibee at 35.1 FS.

Not overthinking this.

🤖 PLAY OF THE DAY 🤖

-Yusei Kikuchi over 32.5 FS

Big spot tonight, needing a big number from Yusei. But I’m more than ready for this ride.

This 32.5 FS line crosses a little threshold of comfortability, and demands more than we are used to playing. However, I think Kikuchi is in a good spot tonight to smack this line. Yusei comes in with one of the higher K lines on tonight’s slate AND one of the lower ER lines at 1.5, though favored over that line(of course). His Pitching Outs line is set to 16.5 with not much juice either way on books. The line may be sharp there, but if Yusei does push over that he likely soars over FS with ease. Even not, he has games this season where he has hit over FS without going over PO.

Small narrative here tonight but there is one never the less. Kikuchi is now the first Japanese player to start a game for the Astros. This was brought up in his first presser and introduction with the team.

Astros are at home tonight. They’re a solid favorite to win tonight. Kikuchi takes the mound to defend not only our coin but our an entire country on his back(half serious here).

Additionally, Kikuchi is coming up as the highest FS pitcher for tonight’s entire slate on the model, soaring over this line in sims. Robot projections coming in around 40 FS.

PLAY OF THE DAY

-Grant Holmes over 4.5 K’s

I’ve been deep in the lab for this. Studying film from the last 10 years in the minors, to making his first start last week. This is all systems go.

Grant Holmes is just over a K/Inning pitcher and is converting from the bullpen into a starter. He had his first start last week vs Milwaukee, a tough club I usually take pitchers unders, and struck out 8 batters in 5.0 IP, on 70 pitches thrown. Today he gets Miami who are striking out 6th most in the MLB vs RHP in the last 30 days.

Holmes has a high chase % and whiff %. From my film studies we saw his stuff. He’s got a curveball and slider that can both be nasty. He throws each quite a bit as well, throwing the curve 29% and slider 22%. You’ll see it move today.

Additionally, the model is loving this as well, further confirming and solidifying this play. Sims coming in averaging 6.16 K’s AND covering this line in 69% of sims.

-Andrew Heaney over 15.5 PO

This is going to be a very familiar spot with targeting 15.5 PO props that reflect solidly on the model. This one however, is coming up on projections even better than I may have ever seen before for a 15.5 prop. Usually there’s a sweet spot I like to see from these projections that will trigger my interest and this one is soaring over that. I’ve had this prop on my radar all day and it’s about time to lock in.

(UPDATE)

Lineups were just confirmed and new sims were run. Projections are now coming up even higher. I’m in. All eyes on Heaney tonight.

MLB PROP #2

-JP Sears over 1.5 K’s Innings 1+2 (MLB Live)

Here’s a prop that is checking all the boxes. Targeting a pitcher vs. the Chicago White Sox who are striking out the 2nd most vs. LHP in the last 15, 5th most in the last 30 and have the 2nd worst wRC+ in the last 30.

-Sears is 4-1 to this line in the last 5 games

-Pitchers are 4-1 vs. CWS in the last 5 games

Sears full game K line has been bumped to 5.0 K’s. FS is at 33.0 FS now. The 17.5 PO is a goblin. All signs point to Sears having himself a night, which I have been fully on and projecting. IMO the best line we are going to get out of all props for Sears will be this MLB Live prop.

Look familiar? I took it in my Flex Friday play. It bumped and I’m still playing it again. Because it’s hitting.

Zach goes against his old team the Rays today. Narrative enough? If not, the model is projecting Eflin as the 3rd highest FS pitcher on the slate tonight. Very solid look that the model also projects Eflin for the highest likely pitcher on the entire slate to Record the Win.

-Matt Waldron over 30.5 FS

All systems go here. This prop is passing all lab tests from The Robot and checking every box.

This 30.5 FS line is right in our sweet spot. Padres are a solid favorite today against the Marlins at around -200, one of the biggest favorites on today’s slate. Waldron has +110 odds to Record the Win, which is 3rd highest/most favorable of all pitchers today. You’ll see all books have big juice and favor his over 17.5 PO. At this 30.5 FS line there are many ways this can smack. If the Padres bats get to Roddery Munoz today this could actually soar.

Model projecting around 35 FS.

-Tyler Anderson over 26.5 FS

Let me just say, I know you’re scared of this. I know Tyler freaking Anderson FS isn’t a sexy prop. I get it. I’m scared with you. I do think it’s the right play though.

Bottom line, I just think this line is just too low. Especially for a Pitcher who is likely to get the Quality Start today, with books setting his PO line at 18.5, favored under, or favored over 17.5 PO. I looked up every game Tyler went +6.0 IP and he had gone over(soared) this line in 12/15 (80%) of those games.

I know Toronto doesn’t K much. And he’s very favored under his 4.5 K’s line. But there’s many ways he could cover this FS line. It’s pretty even but the Angels are actually a slight favorite at home tonight. Tyler recording the Win most likely SOARS over this line. The Pitching Outs will stack and the 4 points for the Quality Start are very likely. IF Tyler does K batters tonight this line is going over. We have many ways to cover here.

Additionally, Anderson is actually projecting as the 3rd highest FS Pitcher tonight on sims, with the Angels coming in a very, very solid favorite to win. Projecting the highest IP/PO on the entire slate. Around 6.16 IP and coming in over 31 FS.

-Nick Pivetta over 5.5 K’s

Huge projections that we cannot ignore today. Pivetta is coming up as the #1 Pitcher on the model, averaging 7.39 K’s in the sims. I do not think I have ever seen a Pitcher come up so high on the 10+ K’s than I see with Pivetta today.

The Robot Factory got deep in the lab with Houston strikeout numbers and how they fair in Whiff % and K% vs 4 seam fastball and sweeper, Pivetta’s two most thrown pitches, throwing at 72.8% of pitches.

Books are not in love with this play, for full transparency. But I am seeing a big discrepancy with our tools, data, analysis and lab work. Tanner Houck just struck out 8 Astros yesterday. Give me 6 tonight Nick that’s all we ask.

I know this seems wild, it seems crazy, yes. Is Rooker over this FS line in 12 of the last 15 games? Yes. Whatever. It’s an under tonight. Follow me, let’s go for a walk.

Rooker has a tough matchup tonight. Facing Shota Imanaga with zero history, but we do have data to input for hitter and pitcher types and projections for them here. Usually on the hitter board we see a “1-10” on the matchup machine. Well Brent is -5 tonight. I’ll show you a breakdown in one of the pics here as well. With all data input the model projects 6.82 FS tonight.

(EDIT: Sims re-ran, now projecting 6.41 FS)

Additionally, Lawrence Butler is out tonight who usually leads off for the A’s. Brent won’t have him in to bat that run in. Instead he will have … Jacob Wilson leading off. Jacob is batting .222 this season. He also bats only .194 in away games.

Last 5’ers have made this the 1st most played prop on PrizePicks for MLB tonight. We are going the other way on this one.

All books favor the under K’s and also the under 15.5 Pitching Outs as well. In games where Gil has only gone 15.0 PO max, he’s only hit this over in ONE GAME out of 13 (.07%) games this season.

This should be a slaughter. You can take this prop up to 46.5 FS if it bumps that high. Expecting 7-8Ks, QS, and a Win. Boston -200 odds to win. Reds got their rookie on the mound who likely makes a few mistakes out there. Crochet has the clear advantage here. Cinci 8.76 Ks per game, 8th most

Wacha line is way too low for with ability to make 6 inning. Seattle also Ks 8.87 times per game, 5th most. Great look for him as well, expecting a QS, maybe a win. Facing Kirby who has been a hot mess on the mound this year 🤝

  • Both pitchers are dominant strikeout pitchers.
  • Ray is at 6, Cam is at 5. The combo is lower.
  • The Yankees struck out 12 times opening night, Giants 6 times.
  • Expecting both to pitch 5 innings.

  • Looked amazing during the WBC. Especially against USA.
  • Likely gets hit around a little bit but 4Ks should be doable before he gets pulled. Should see 4+ innings.

Vladdy MORE 8 FS

  • Coming off of the WBC, he’s definitely warmed up for the season
  • Facing Sevy who tends to give up a lot of hits/HRs to power hitters.
  • Vlad is 5/13 against Sevy in his career with a HR.
  • Toronto has a high powered offense who gets on base A LOT. Vladdy should have multiple chances with guys on base.

Kirby MORE 13.5 1st Inning Pitches

  • CLE tends to draw long ABs and are patient at the plate.
  • 13.5 is extremely low, where other guys are at 15.5-16.5. This could clear even if Kirby gets all 3 batters out in the 1st.
  • CLE came out firing in game 1, putting up 2 runs in the first on Gilbert.
