i hate to be that guy but. doesn’t removing the entire chips system with its randomized stat buffs limited to run obtainment sort of negate the entirety of what makes a roguelike a roguelike

Does DJ Octavio is Gay?

[Gets criticized once: Fucking Dies]

[aka i don't trust myself to write coherently at midnight and i probably fucked it up further than that one criticism]

Side Order’s gameplay genre is the Roguelite genre, a group of games often categorized by randomized levels, tough-as-nails combat, a variety of set-in-stone weapons, and, most crucially, random power-ups and stat boosts that you collect throughout your run yet lose upon death. (see games like The Binding of Isaac , Crypt of the Necrodancer, or Hades for more challenging examples)
oftentimes this will also come with a permanent currency system that you can spend on things to make your future runs potentially easier.
now, the poster of this, before taking it down, had proposed a system to replace the chips with a system called “perks,” where you could freely customize your weapon, its stats, abilities, and subs/specials, which kiiiinda defeats the purpose of the roguelite genre

I wrote it at like midnight and

#

arguably it misses the point of splatoon and tries to make it an entirely different game

#

and is just me haphazardly slamming like 8 different games together

The Only Change I'd Make To Side Order Weapon-Wise Is Allowing You To Change What Tone Preferences The Palettes Have

#

Lock It Behind An Expensive Hack You Can Only Get After Beating All The Palettes Or Whatever

#

Not Only Would This Encourage Replayability Even More, But It Would Help With Completing The Chip Collection
