i mean adapting if you break it down is really just trying to do something different.
that could be shifting to a more aggressive playstyle, or going for sharks more, or playing to draw attention from teammates, or be as simple as taking different routes or deciding to sit back and bomb more or focusing on a different player.
you don't have to really be terribly smart to just try something different, just not be afraid of the possibility of it not working out. you'll gain a lot of experience trying things out and learn what "adaptations" work better or don't work well for various situations.
if you have enough knowledge on something ofc you can try making a more direct approach to counterplay something specific, like learning the safe distance you can be away from certain weapons or figuring out what you can do from various positions on the map
you can also just work on improving general map knowledge of how you can move on the maps and what you can hit from various positions or be hit by
and improve your base mechanics with movement and aiming drills
if your goal is to get better at making adaptations on the fly, i would give myself a very short timer of 2 seconds of doing anything in particular before trying something or going somewhere else. if nothing is progressing with what you're currently doing for about 2 seconds, or you aren't about to get some guaranteed kill on someone through sharking or something, it's often a good idea to do something else before the other team starts getting used to you being in that position and playing around that.

And yet it has more useful information per word than your comment.
