This is a loooooong one and you might be a lil confused if you haven’t kept up to date on Alterna theories.
As always make sure to comment your ideas/thoughts
(Also take everything with a lil bit of salt because I in fact don’t know everything and might have gotten stuff wrong)
The Beginning
No.1: ORCA was created by the humans in alterna to record history, preserve history, announce events, and relay information of the outside world to alterna (Temp, weather, etc) they also may have at some point connected ORCA to a fax machine. Humans at one point made machinery testing chambers to test out technology’s (like floating tech, soaker blocks, and ink wheels). To house all of the servers needed to store all of this data they created a tower in happiness research labs dedicated to storing and cooling the servers.
Uh Oh Humanity died
No.2: The new generation of scientists wanted to leave alterna: the plan was to launch a rocket into space. But as we know things did not go to plan. As the crystals fell into the water and the creatures in the water evolved ORCA found itself starting to care about these new beings and wanted them to succeed so as the creatures started to walk on land ORCA knowing that alterna couldn’t house these new beings it opened the doors to the tunnels to the surface.
Squid Kid Time
No.3: Life on the surface was going well for the creatures and they were populating around the world but a flood that occurred in the splatlands was problematic and ORCA wanting to save the population decided to open the main hatch of alterna letting the water fill into the already watery alterna saving the splatlands. The locals assuming this event was divine origin, the people celebrated.
Straight Fax
No.4 ORCA watched and monitored the inklings and octolings. ORCA took note of a fax machine that they seemed to worship. While most of the received images were nonsense sent by humans into space for them to be received thousands of years later every once in a while ORCA slipped in a few more important ones that could help push them in the right directions.
Bear Moment
No.5 Until one day where ORCA noticed that the Ark Polaris’s orbit was starting to decay, intrigued ORCA started to monitor where it was calculated to crash to see if any of the inhabitants would survive. To ORCA’s luck one inhabitant did survive, one called Bear #03. Bear #03 was confused and scared when he couldn’t find any other mammals around. Desperate he used the technology on the ark Polaris to locate a human colony called Alterna that he heard the crew on the Ark Polaris talk about. When he got to alterna it was in shambles with very little liquid crystal on the walls. After much testing he figured out that by mixing his own fur with the liquid crystals he could create a substance called fuzzy ooze that that could make living creatures into “mammals”. Needing to know how he could create more liquid crystals with his current resources he figured out that the liquids in golden eggs was similar to the squid fluids used in the Original crystals. However because salmonid fluids were used in the creation of the ooze salmonids were unaffected, a problem that seemed to be unimportant. ORCA knowing bear #03’s want for mammals posed as a simple AI that would follow instructions. But behind the scenes ORCA was getting things ready just in case somehow someone would find alterna.
Bearly at Splatoon 3
No.5.5: (let’s step forward for a moment and explore what Mr grizz was doing at the time before splat 3.) At some point during/between splat 2 and 3 Lil’ Judd and grizz interacted (and possibly Judd?) it is unclear if lil Judd knows that Mr grizz is a Bear but what I do think is clear is that lil Judd did not know his intentions with ending the world. Lil Judd while not as popular as Judd would still be able to maybe make the government of inkcadia (and possibly other countries) turn a blind eye to some of grizz-co’s practices. Also somehow grizz had found out about the octarians and decided to kidnap a large portion of Octavio’s army. He most likely tested on these Octolings and octarians.
Help! my zapfish has gone missing
No.6: ORCA knowing that Bear 03 kidnapped the octarians and the zapfish had the idea to lure the squidbeak Splatoon to alterna by putting fuzzified octarians back into some of the old outposts in some of the smaller craters. After new agent 3 beats Octavio Mr grizz realizes that the fuzzy ooze that covers the alterna hatch he immediately realizes that the Squidbeak Splatoon has breached his defenses so he uses ooze to grab who he assumes are the most threatening to his plan: the (what he believes to be the leader) “leader” of the Squidbeak Splatoon and the head of the octarian army. After new agent 3 goes into Get to Know Alterna ORCA puts up the simple AI act again to keep from raising suspicion.
Yea!!1!1!! Kill the space bear
No.6: ORCA after seeing agent 3 arrive at the Alterna Space Center still removes agent 3’s weaponry (very conveniently allowing sidekicks) only to after agent 3 beats the level to give it back to them. ORCA also litters the sections with specials making it possible for new agent 3 to advance and stop Bear 03. After Bear 03 launches the rocket and leaves through the hatch ORCA leaves it open for New agent 3 to follow. As agent 3& bear 03 fight ORCA watches hoping that all that it has done to keep the world safe from grizz hasn’t been for nothing.
The FINish
No.7: And that is the end for ORCA (for now) and thank you for reading my grand theory on alterna and ORCA’s role in everything.

We don’t really know how bad outside of the dome was when the alterna rocket launched, it could have still been very dangerous to go out and do anything
