Ahoy! This is a quick little post. Here’s a fun fact: the Captain actually has scars on the ends of their tentacles! That’s it. Have fun with this information.

I like to think that Captain 3 didn't get those scars from like super heroic thing but it's like something stupid like she tried to bathe Lil' Judd or something.

tough burrow

I’m hoping for a new squid amiibo for power armour mk2

tough burrow

something like getting some scars as deco so he/she could fit in

Funny how they have scars, but not the common fanon scar of, like, a lingering patch of discolored skin where they had an invasive, brain altering goo applied to them, which seems like it caused lasting damage. (They're left with notably less energy most of the time)

Instead, it's just generic cuts like they've been getting into knife fights or something.

This probably has something to do with being knocked out twice. First was from jumping Tartar as Telephone and then after the brutal fight vs Agent 8

When were they almost forced?

loud trout

bro obviously the scars were gained after 5 years of fighting

fierce nest

OK, but fighting what? The scars are clearly cut marks, but agent 3 has (as far as we've seen) fought octarians with projectile weapons, and a telephone which hit them with brain-sapping goop.

#

They didn't have the cuts then, so, it's not like they're from the blender either.

lime crown
#

I mean, debris is a possibility
And octarians do have real ass katanas

Them smashing through glass is an option

I have a question, how did they get the scars from only ink or did something or like what could've they fought to get the scars

#

its not like ink can cause permanent damage and that also poses the question. Why use ink to actually fight each other instead of other lethal weapons which can cause permanent damage to their bodies?

#

is it only because of the fact that they generate ink from their bodies

#

like couldn't they replicate actual fire arms which has longer rangess

#

since like a simple fire-arm like a handgun would have multiple times the range of for example E-liter

#

and its not like they don't know fire arms exist

#

since the hero shot resembles a real life gun (Its P90 I think)

#

(I mean the old one not the new one)

#

and even if thats a coincidence wouldn't they find like blueprint or firearms left behind from humans

marsh wadi
#

Ah yes, I am a bot. Mhm

raven cloak
#

Well, you’re not, but your string of nonsensical “No” messages could be considered spam thanks to the frequent repetition and general irrelevance to the topic and conversation at hand.

Either properly contribute or don’t say anything at all.

#

uh smashing through a glass ceiling

raven cloak
#

to be fair Agent 3 was probably up in the facility wrecking shit for hours if not days, so smashing directly through glass, breaking the machine, and kicking Tartar’s face in was probably the straw that broke the camel’s back

fierce nest
# crisp sage 'notably less energy'? when have they ever been shown to be energetic?

Captain 3 spends 98% of splatoon 3's story mode sitting down, and when doing the pose with the squid sisters, Captain 3's version is even less "enthused" than Marie's, and Marie's stage persona is intentionally being low-key. In previous games, agent 3 was the one that went out and did stuff, but even though they are on site in Alterna, they had to pull another agent in to do the work.

sophomore slump

fierce nest
#

Also only mustering up a "booyah" for saving the world. Altogether, this seems to imply that

  1. Their experience with tartar's goo and stuff in Octo Expansion left them unable to do standard field work.
  2. Perhaps cuttlefish felt guilty, so they actually started paying captain 3 to keep on as support/management
  3. Captain 3 is still is eager to bring the fight, although they can only manage short bursts of strength nowadays.
loud trout
#

yeah they sprained a tentacle somehow thats how not energizer they are

raven cloak
#

Sophomore slump, bored, maybe the limiter being off and spamming specials really affected them negatively, who knows

#

that’s right, S1 players! your beloved inkling from the first game has possibly been irreparably harmed via mind control!

blazing gull
#

*slaps mantle of squid* this bad boy/girl/enby can fit so much trauma in them

crisp sage
#

well theyve never exactly been up beat either- theyre sortof just laid back by nature.

loud trout
#

they are purposely silent cause they are designed for you to project onto them

#

its up to interpretation if they were laid back in the first game aswell

fierce nest
#

They were certainly a lot more physically active in the previous 2 games.

loud trout
#

well yeah thats for sure, turf wars are very physically demanding

crisp sage
tough burrow
crisp sage
#

they just have a bored and naturally laid back personality.

#

plus maybe they want to be out doing stuff instead of neo 3 and are annoyed.

tough burrow
#

They looked much more enthusiastic in 1 and 2

crisp sage
#

again, in 1/2 they were either the protagonist or seen exclusivley in action scenes.
in 1 they probably didnt want to paste a personality onto someone you were supposed to project onto, so they went with the sun and moon approach.

tough burrow
#

yeah, there was only 1 action scene of 3 in the story mode

crisp sage
#

and it was in roughly the same location plot wise as their appearence in OE, with similar results, and they were back on their feet within half an hour to cry all over craig's 'corpse'

loud trout
#

craig has been octavioified and now octavio is gonna be strictly in his human form

#

hes gonna be the ugliest mf in town 4euro

crisp sage
#

what

loud trout
#

uh

#

strictly in squid form thing

#

whatever

crisp sage
tough burrow
#

That was that one part though

crisp sage
#

yes- I- thats what im saying. we get about as much action from them as we do in OE, apart from that part where they were literally brainwashed, and personality wouldnt have been a factor in their actions anyway.

tough burrow
#

Actually change that to 2

#

everyone loved that part at the end where captain 3 goes “Booyah”

crisp sage
#

yes. plus its totally in line with the whole 'silent protagonist' trope I love. like how red only ever says '...' and the rse protagonists were forced to respond to everything as a yes or no question, to the point that the developers poked fun with it.
'where are you from?'
'y e s'

tough burrow
#

I like the booyah bc Captain 3 was a playable character and “Booyah” was one of the only 3 lines Agent 3 could say, along with “This way” and “Ouch”

loud trout
#

in s1 it was "nice!" i thought

#

and it was "cmon!"

#

i might be wrong

tough burrow
#

yeah

#

but it’s more now “Booyah”

#

and now since splatoon 2 there was also “Help”

crisp sage
#

in splatoon 1 the callouts were c'mon! and booyah! no 'oh no I got splatted' equivelant. and they changed c'mon! to this way! because it could be misinterperated as like encouragement or something, when they wanted two clear 'over here' and 'yes/hooray' callouts.

tough burrow
#

it made more sense in s2

#

especially with the booyah bomb

#

Yes, I’d like a Nice bomb
