#The character I've seen no talk about (spoilers for alterna logs, site 6)

It seems "important", being the end of the normal logs, but I guess it sorta gets overshadowed by the story mode finale that happens right afterwards.
It's possible they're responsible for some of the "biblical" esque prophecy stuff, like these two sunken sea scrolls (Although given the stylistic differences, probably not both sunken scrolls)
Squid Jesus
If we had actual confirmation they were responsible for scroll 17 from splat 2, then we'd have a name for this figure- Madai
If anybody has non-joke theories or information on this enigmatic figure, lemme know.
I believe there considered the first inkling
Like they were the first to get the swapping power
It was just said they're a prophet that was responsible for many good things
We don't know anything else
Well, maybe the current Deep Cut are descendents of the trio that was prophesied to save them.
They literally did help save the world.
I think they’re supposed to be the squid equivalent to the first true modern human
I don’t think they’re supposed to be a religious figure, even though the log definitely could be seen to be pushing that idea
Progenitor means “the person which originates a cultural movement” or as a biological ancestor from which a lineage emerges
i think it can be a little of both as historical events sometimes later become a religious thing but i think the purpose is just to show that inklings began evolving
Amen
Stop calling him Squid Jesus
Dude only invented turf wars
Also looks like humanoid seafood
It was never said he invented turf wars
Ditto.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t modern Turf Wars a result of the Great Turf War?
Maybe this character has something to do with the invention of Splatfests.
Well Cuttlefish seems a bit disstressed at first when turf war is mentioned so ig that's possible
It could be but they for sure didn't make the themes
They come from the fax
The fax machine is interesting. This interview (https://nintendoeverything.com/splatoon-staff-talk-about-the-inkling-design-more-on-the-squid-sisters-and-other-topics/) says that the intention was for messages from discussions 12,000 years ago to be transmitted, bounce back to Earth, and be received through that fax.
Though, I think the Callie v. Marie Splatfest kind of puts a hole in that.
I imagine that the machine printed out something about human pop idols, but since Inklings didn't know what it was they just replaced it with Callie and Marie
It was also said that this Splatfest occured due to their popularity so ig that could also be a stable reason
turf wars have been a thing since judd awoke 2000 years before S1
but the modern turf wars are generally put in comparison to how skating generated into becoming a sport
i.e starting as disorganised groups hosting underground competitions and then it becoming increasingly organised and backed by higher and higher-up groups
cuttlefish being distressed about the idea of turf wars is (iirc) only in the NOA english (and associated) localisations and cuttlefish in OE in general was pretty shockingly changed from his canon behaviour in that localisation
Oh, right. That whole ancient Egypt thing.
Maybe he plays a big role in one of the upcoming dlc
this is just an ancient drawing of a turf war
Yes but it must be one of the first turf wars
Because:
- They look like the squid prophet
- the squid prophet invented turf war
Also there's alot of details in that scroll
Ink tanks, splatbombs, burst bombs, super jumps, rollers, respawn points
Where is it said that the squid invented turf wars
It doesn’t say he invented Turf War in the English localization.
No way
Only vaguely that he, “was embraced as a prophet, gifted with numerous revelations that they shared among their fellow squids.”
And “During this period, the foundations for modern cephalopod civilization were laid.
That individual squid is now widely known and celebrated as the progenitor of the modern-day Inkling.”
Dang
The vagueness of that statement makes it possible that he made Turf War, but it’s not outright stated.
And I thought that the turf war symbol was the symbol of the squid prophet
Ooooh
I just thought of something
Dude
What if the squid prophet was receiving revelations from a surviving human, or even Tartar?
He laid the foundation of cephalopod civilization, that's why this word looks so similar to the human world
Tartar wanted the inklings to be like humans so he chose the squid prophet to make it happen
I’m doubtful.
It makes so much sense though
About Tartar specifically.
The only other option is:
- He is a false prophet
- He was an actual biblical prophet
- He wasn't really a prophet, nor did he think of himself as a prophet
But it would be really cool if my theory is right
There’s just not enough information to make any educated guesses.
True
The logo for turf wars is known as a "squidmark" (based on the name of certain pieces of gear with the symbol on it), and it's just the logo for the squidforce clothing brand, with eyes. Apparently the brand was so "popular" (aka it's the first set of gear you start with in the game) that the brand became the official sponsor of turf wars, which is probably why their brand logo is used to represent "turf war"
Ohhh ok
I was wrong
I wonder why there’s a steamy octopus in the top left of this.
