If inklings being splatted pretty much means they D I E, how does the respawn point bring them back? Furthermore, how the heck did they pull it off?

I’m going to assume that Inklings and Octolings are somehow linked to the Spawn Point so that soul thing that comes out when you die is kind of magnetized back to to spawn point, and activating Checkpoints moves the link to the checkpoint.

My question is does it continuously follow the age of the inkling or does it bring them back to the age they were when they touched it? And if it’s the ladder does that mean immortality is real?

how do they even get their gear/clothes back

#

you can see them explode and leave their stuff behind when they get splatted

warm bramble
#

Maybe part of the respawn process is getting the clothes the spawn point was activated with or they’re just made of Ink?

vernal bobcat
#

what's made of ink?

#

the clothes?

warm bramble
#

The made of Ink Part is coming from dropping your weapons when getting a new weapon/rainmaker in Splatoon 2 Hero Mode

warm bramble
#

Clothes is a bit of a stretch but I could kinda see it happen

plain harbor
#

In game the clothes literally shrink

#

And the weapons

warm bramble
#

The respawn point is just a small locker room so you gotta grab all your stuff before going back to the fight

plain harbor
#

But then shouldn't you be able to pull an overwatch and switch weapons?

Would be the most confusing thing to watch or play against, so they probably limit them to 1 weapon

river sapphire

Like, in lore they’d have a rule against more than 1 weapon wouldn’t they?

vernal bobcat
#

why wouldn't there be one

river sapphire
#

Who knows, maybe they don’t have any rules for Turf War and Inklings are just really nice. Hell they donate so much that they get free shirts because the gov’t has a surplus of ‘em

they most definitely were on naughty from that one spla1oon fest

Modifying weapons is illegal in the Splat universe sooo…

Oh yeah Neo 3’s bag is a spawn point

#

Does that mean all Salmonids can Respawn?

untold saffron
#

Probably not

#

Death is a big part of their culture, so I don’t see them respawning

#

Though I wouldn’t count out their potential to, but they would probably choose not to if given that choice

warm bramble

Imagine a Salmon run where they just pull out a spawnpoint and it’s endless waves of steelheads

Steelheads I could handle

Endless waves of Flyfish, Stingers, Big Shots and Drizzlers on the other hand…

Imagine a spawn point malfunctioning and spitting you out, naked

"Gameplay bullshit I guess"

Bu yeah, would like some science behind that, since I know the splatoon 2 spawn pads used high pressure ink to respawn.

Yeah fair

I think maybe the respawn points give another stable body of ink for the soul to use

#

like getting splatted just makes your ink body too unstable and thus explode

#

like maybe what seperates ink that can be used for a body and ink thats on the ground is pressure or smth

slate spoke

Id say, everything a inkling/octoling has is made from ink in some form or another, just the clothes and weapon being a hardened variant, and when splatted these things just slowly dissolve instead of just exploding, and the respawn point regenerating everything, thats why it takes so long.
And every time you activate a checkpoint/get ready for a fight the checkpoint/respawn station just remembers everything your clothing is and what attributes it had.
But thats just a theory from my side

The "soul", I'd say, is like the strictly vital parts of an Inkling, in a semi-gaseous state that can be picked up by spawn points.

My theory is:
To regain clothes/weapons: Stolen Octo Tech. Really is the only logical answer.

For ink/octolings, their entire body is the ink, and their “soul” is their true body, || Imagine Cuttlefish’s new form, but without being all dried up. ||
