The engine I personally think is quite bulky, offering CCOS as a library would allow for lower latency and more control for the manufacturer. I think this would give chording more popularity and integration.

Let's say I am a manufacturer and make keyboards. Using the engine would increase latency because of the way data is transmitted, and increase cost. Using a free proprietary library on the other hand costs nothing and gives the keyboard chording capabilities.
