#Prefix Arpeggiates in CCOS

CCOS documentation describes an arpeggiate as “A quick, single key press and release used to indicate a suffix, prefix, or modifier to be associated with a chord”

I’m focusing on the “prefix” part. I haven’t heard much talk about it so I assume it isn’t a current feature in CCOS.

This would be a really interesting addition, and I assume would work like the capitalization modifier where you can delete the whole word and add it back with a different first letter (capitalized). With a prefix modifier you could add “un”, “pre”, “semi” prefixes to the beginning of chords.

I’m using this suggestions channel as a feature request, hope that works! 😀

I think to be most useful arpeggiates should be reprogrammable
and ideally be able to 'look back a word'

#

eg english prefixes / postfixes often have variants
prefix: im-possible vs ir-religious
for postfix: run-ning vs sing-ing

Though there are no current designated prefix modifiers, last month, users discovered that on the latest CCOS Beta, you're able to create chords that don't add a space at the end. This essentially lays down the groundwork for prefixes. You can create chords for "un", "pre", and "semi" and have them not add a space at the end. What ends up happening is that you end up with the cursor immediately to the right of the "prefix". One thing I have not personally explored is whether or not Chording immediately after a "prefix" will get rid of the prefix itself, in an attempt to "correct" the entire string.

Mav, that’s a good point, but doesn’t that feature that doesn’t add a space require that the output chord have a character with a code higher than 128? I think it works for zuffixes because it has the BKSP key in it which has a code higher than 128.

#

Can you add a backspace at the end of a chord to remove the space? Or would that just remove the last character?

Let me know your thoughts @viscid heart

Ok cool. I’ll give that a shot and see if it works!

So I heard that zuffix was renamed from suffix due to the first user that played with it. His username started with z. So do we rename this feature to tefix instead of prefix?? 😂

I can't remember who discovered this one, but I think it would be fair to rename it after them lol

Haha, just in jest. No need to rename
