I have an odd problem. When I turn on my laptop, if charachorder is plugged in, my computer doesn't start and the screen stays black until I unplug the charachorder so every time I restart my pc I have to unplug and replug the charachorder

This is likely a bios issue. I’ve heard of success when the user disables “legacy USB support,” but I doubt that is the case here. Keyboard and mouse is basic USB, not legacy. It’s just the most simple application of the standard. “Legacy” support in this case basically means to use the Win NT Microsoft drivers for basic devices. The latest keyboard and mouse drivers are mostly the same now as then, which is why I don’t think this will do the trick.

The other solution I rumored to work in similar cases involves Windows’ boot options to either do a “Fast Boot” or a “Thorough Boot.” Try switching Fast Boot off so that the machine has to do the the full boot process of determining what is attached and loading the right stuff, rather than assuming that everything is okay with the cached boot files.

I can’t remember exactly where that gets set, but a Google search on “windows 11 disable fast boot” should get you there. I don’t have access to a Win 11 box at the moment or I would be more specific on steps to change this setting.

I'll try to switch off the fast boot and see how it goes, ty

Ok. We keep going, then.

What are the make and model of the laptop, and is it a personal machine or a work issued laptop?

Dell inspirion 16, personal machine

It could be window 11, I had few problems with my Nvidia too

Ok. There are always machine specific issues that crop up when hardware changes every year, so I like to see if anything jogs my memory. The personal vs work is always important, because the security settings on work machines tend to be less accommodating and have presented issues for one user already. The intent was to use it at work in a hospital, and it appears that the security is locked down to the vendor and model of USB peripherals in that case.

This is striking me like a driver issue. You said you had an issue with your nvidia. Was that also a boot hang?
